Eko “must” be alive!

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

I was reading back in “LOST, The Official Magazine” Issue 4, a Q & A with Damon (I’m not even going to tell you who that is because you should know by now!). Here is one of the questions that when I first read it I didn’t take much note but the season finale had not yet aired. Now it seems to have much more meaning.

Q. “On the Internet, I saw that someone with TiVo saw 10 different images in the ‘monster’s’ smoke. I went home to my old-fashioned VCR and, going frame by frame, I could see a very fuzzy image of a man and another of a lady. Are the images important for us to freeze frame and debate meaning of, or are they just some interesting little things that you’ve added for people who have more sophisticated equipment?

A. …. To answer your question … The images in the smoke are ALL very relevant. Some make sense to you now (like the church from Eko’s flashback), some will make sense to you LATER (like the woman with the headdress)…but all of them are there for you guys, so debate away!!!

New cast member

Looks like Rodrigo Santoro will be joining the cast of Lost next season. I’m guessing that he is going to be an Other, but they managed to bring in Danielle with a believable story. Maybe they will find the “midsection” of the plane. Just kidding.

I guess he’s had a few forgettable roles here and there but being on the island should help with that. Read his bio here.

Translation: Underworld

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

At Comic Con 2006 the producers confirmed that the translation of the heiroglypics is “Underworld.” Does this confirm or debunk the underwater hatch? They wouldn’t say.

ABC and Verizon collaborate to squeeze more money out of you dear fan

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

What images would ABC and Verizon executives see in the black smoke?

ABC plans to produce 13 “mobisodes” or mobile episodes that were shot by *Hurley*. Somehow (even though as fans of the show we haven’t seen this) Hurley got ahold of a video camera and made a diary of his experience on the island. Also “SOMEHOW” Verizon mobile users will be privy to these episodes on their phones. Screw the rest of us, huh ABC? Yeah, well, I know where YouTube is and I am sure some friendly Verizon user out there will make them available to all of us, so screw you ABC!

According to executive producer Damon Lindelof, “It has been hard to get it off the ground, because we don’t want them to be … lame.” Well, could you just concentrate then on the hour long show instead and forget about lining the big boys pockets? How about instead of 13 mobile episodes that only a handful of people will or will want to see, make an extra episode for all of your fans?

Am I sounding bitter here? Is anyone with me on this?

Season Three “goodies”

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Finally, some information to get excited about! There is some information contained here that is probably borderline “spolier” considering we don’t know for sure the fate of the four in the hatch, so keep that in mind if you want to still read this.

Source: The Ausiello Report

During an interview Carlton Cuse revealed: We almost view the first six [episodes] as a miniseries. And it’s going to answer what we left hanging at the end of the finale. Obviously, we’re going to explain what happened to Locke and Desmond and Eko, and sort of deal with the fact that Sawyer and Kate and Jack are in captivity. We would love to sort of finish up [Libby]’s story.

We’re casting two female roles and one new male role. I can’t tell you where the characters are going to come from, but obviously, one of the things we’re doing this year on the show is… learning a lot more about the Others, and their society and their history. So it might be fair to say that you’re going to learn more about some other characters who are also Others.

I wouldn’t call it the season of sex, but I will say that romance will play a much more active part of the show this year… We actually meant to get to it last year. We didn’t really get to the romance as fast as we thought we were going to. So this year that’s definitely on our agenda. I think actually one of these new female characters is going to be a romantic interest, possibly for Jack. There will be several new romances on the show this year…

I think that this year we’re looking to make the show a little bit brighter, a little bit more vibrant, a little bit more on the action-adventure axis, a little bit more on the romance axis. I don’t think the show will be as dark and as intense this year [as it was last season]. And it will be, I think, even more on the character axis than on the mythological axis.

John Locke will be a very different person in Season 3. All of his questions and his doubts and his uncertainty have been answered. In fact, the button did mean something. And there was something at stake. And I think that will bring about a change in that character.

Penny is an important character in the overarching mythology of the show. The interrelationship between the outside world and the island will be something that will be a part of Season 3. The monster will be a part of Season 3, as will the polar bear. People are asking what happened to the polar bear, so we will be doing some polar-bear stories. The smoke creature and the monster are one and the same. I hope Cindy shows up at some point. Let’s just say we have many actors on our show; she is not at the top of the list of actors we’re servicing.

Lost Fan Club

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

I don’t mean to sound bitter here, but I despise when something really cool sells out. Now I have found this Lost Fan Club and all you have to do is send them $32.95 plus $8.00 shipping and handling (there are even higher shipping fees for our friends outside The States) and look what all you get:

* A “Namaste” T-Shirt, available only through the club, yours to wear proudly out amongst the masses. Specify size (and shipping destination) when ordering by clicking the appropriate button below. (yeah, proud that I am supporting you leeches)

* Exclusive Dharma Key Necklace as seen in the season two finale “Live Together Die Alone” This amazing collectible is limited to the first 3,000 folks who sign up for the kit. Please order soon to guarantee that you receive this highly prized item. (so exclusive in fact that I might not even get one!)

* Wanted poster of Kate (um, yeah, I’ll hang it right beside my N’Sync poster)

* Frequent flyer card of Dr. Jack Shephard (this will come in handy when exactly?)

* Airline Ticket of John Locke (think they would take this at the airport?)

* 2 Bumper Stickers: 10800 and WalkaboutTours (if Lost is off in 3 years from now chances are that I will still have my car. It would be like a political sticker long after the election. Not so much)

* Hurleys Lottery Ticket (for this much money it better darned win for me too!)

* Dharma Swan logo black carrying bag (this I might use)

* The Pearl Hatch logo decal (at least it’s not a permanent sticker)

* Four full color 5 by 7 lithos (well, my daughter’s school pictures were getting kind of boring. I could replace them with these. She’d appreciate that I’m sure)

* Swan logo patch (didn’t we patch our jeans back in the 70’s?)

Why can’t I just be a fan for free?  What happened to the clubs where you send them your name and you get a nice card that you had to write your own name on?  Heck, I’d take a secret decoder ring to remind me to drink my Ovaltine at this point!

Here is an ABC sponsored game. It’s kind of silly but the kids might enjoy it too, although, in the day of Nintendo, maybe not.

Link here to play.

On an aside, I was just thinking how odd it is to play a game about an airplane crash…
