Lost Clues

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

For those of you off of work (lucky dogs) and have time to be sitting at your computer reading rather than fighting crowds for the post season sales, here is an interesting little read I found and thought you might enjoy.

‘Lost’ Clues You Can Use

Want answers? You’ll get ‘em! (Maybe.) When Lost returns from a hiatus on Feb. 7, fans will get 16 consecutive episodes, as well as the scoop on Jack’s tattoos, Locke’s wheelchair, and Desmond’s creepy clairvoyance, which exec producer Damon Lindelof says factors ”big-time” into the remainder of season 3. A preview of some other burning questions:
Is mutinous Others doc Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) a friend to the castaways — or a foe?
”Her agenda is more in line with the castaways’ than we originally suspected, but that does not mean she is not sinister,” says Lindelof. FYI, the Feb. 7 episode is all about Juliet.

How will Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) escape Others Island?
Of course, the showrunners wouldn’t tell us — but exec producer Carlton Cuse allows, ”You heard correctly: The Others do have a submarine.”

The Hatch ”imploded,” according to Locke (Terry O’Quinn). Case closed?
Nope, says Lindelof. ”Definitely more to this story. You will get a better picture of what happened when Desmond [Henry Ian Cusick] turned the fail-safe key.”

Who is ”Jacob,” and why is Jack (Matthew Fox) not on his ”list”?
”The answer lies further downstream in the ongoing story,” says Cuse. A clue? Lindelof reminds fans that character names in Lost are not assigned without reason. Yes, that is a clue.

A Tough Choice

The Golden Globe nominations have been revealed. I would have liked to have seen more Lost nominations, but after the Emmys at least there are a few nods here. Plus, Heroes is up for a few awards which leads me to believe that whoever chooses the nominees at least has *some* taste!

“24,” Fox; “Big Love,” HBO; “Grey’s Anatomy,” ABC; “Heroes,” NBC;Lost,” ABC

Actress, Drama:
Patricia Arquette, “Medium”; Edie Falco, “The Sopranos”; Evangeline Lilly, “Lost”; Ellen Pompeo, “Grey’s Anatomy”; Kyra Sedgwick, “The Closer”

In case you missed it….

It’s a REAL Christmas Miracle!

I cannot believe it’s true! My campaign to kill these losers (Ken and Barbie) off is working! Super duper Merry Christmas to me!

Hate the new LOST Characters? Prepare to get your Wish!

He may be a big star in Brazil, but Rodrigo Santoro is having a hard time securing a following with LOST fans, which may not bode well for his on-screen alter-ego Paulo. Fan reaction to the jarring inclusion of new characters Nikki and Paulo has been less than warm. Folks are quick to blame rough editing and the writing tactic of “just pretend they were there all along” for the latest fan-uprising.

Who can forget the uproar over Michelle Rodriguez’s tough girl shtick from season two? The appearance of a self-stereotyping character wore on fans nerves rapidly and probably led to her demise months later. Could the same fate be awaiting Paulo and Nikki? It may turn out that their fate has already been decided.Rodrigo, in particular, has been quite busy with new projects lately, including being cast opposite Shakira and Paz Vega in a new film called ‘Dare to Love Me’, which tells the story of tango legend Carlos Gardel’s life in Paris in the 1930s.

It would be unlike LOST producers to just give up on a character based on extremely early fan feedback; so the reasonings for his being dismissed can only be guessed upon at this point. But his schedule looks nothing like someone who has a full time gig on LOST.

If Stephen King Wrote The End For Lost

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

I’m not an Entertainment Weekly fan, but this article makes it worth the money. The only way this article could be *any* better is if they somehow included Heroes. lol

The upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly has a BOMBASTICALLY cool article which is basically a conversation moderated by Jeff Jensen between Stephen King, JJ Abrams, Carlton Cuse, and Damon Lindelof! The conversation took place right here in Maine (I’m a Mainer, ayuh) in King’s home town of Bangor – just 40 minutes up the road from yours truly. For Jeff’s memoir of the event click here.

During the conversation, the inevitable happened. Much to the delight of dual LOST/KING fans everywhere they asked King the big one: How would you end LOST. His answer lays beneath the jump!

Here, in his own words, is how Stephen King would end LOST:

I would take the main guy, Jack – the first shot of the whole series is his eye-ball close up, right? What that always said to me was that from now on, everything I see, Jack’s the eye of the beholder. So I would do something at the end where I flashback to the airport when they were getting on the plane, and I would have him taken away by people who wanted information out of him.

I would have them hook him up to a machine or something, or feed him drugs, and reveal the whole series had been Jack’s hallucination, built out of fragments of his real life – people from his past, people in the airport, his father, of course, and the numbers. The whole thing would be a lot of shuck and jive. I’d make it work somehow. It would creak, but I’d make it work.

‘Lost’ Producers Dismiss Dominic Monaghan’s Ideas

Monday, December 11th, 2006

I never thought about Widmore having some sort of vendetta against *all* of the survivors.  Maybe Libby could be the link between them all?

Dominic Monaghan’s attempts to clarify the plot of complicated TV drama Lost have been dismissed by producers. The 29-year-old, who plays rocker and heroin addict Charlie Pace, thinks the desert castaways are at the mercy of a bitter billionaire wreaking revenge for past wrongs. But the star’s ideas fell on deaf ears with directors.

He says, “One of the theories I came up with was that we’d all in some way p**sed off some huge billionaire. He’d managed to get us all on a plane and have it crash into this island so that he could watch us from his castle with hidden cameras and create a Truman Show nightmare for us all.

“Maybe I’d s**gged his daughter, or Evangeline’s character, Kate, had stolen money from his bank, or Josh’s character Sawyer, had fandangled money out of him. But (the idea) got pooh-poohed by the writers.”
