.. or at least this guy is from that show.  Another new character.  Link on the title below to read the story.

John Hawkes joins for season six

“Lost” will be adding a little “Deadwood” to its cast for season six.

John Hawkes, who played Sol Star on “Deadwood” and co-stars in HBO’s “Eastbound and Down,” will have a recurring role on the ABC show’s final season. He’ll be playing a character named Lennon, The Hollywood Reporter says.

Here’s the interesting part, though: Lennon is described as a “scruffy, edgy and charismatic spokesperson and translator for the president of a foreign corporation.” The character also wields more influence than it would seem based on his job.

Two things spring to mind from that: First, it sounds like an excellent match between actor and role. Second, who does Lennon work for? My first thought is that he’s a minion of Charles Widmore (Alan Dale) — and given where “Lost” seems to be headed, it would seem natural that Widmore be more involved in the final season.

Sun (Yunjin Kim) is also the president of a foreign corporation, but she doesn’t really need a translator. Another possibility, reaching even deeper into the “Lost” mythology, would be Alvar Hanso. We’ll find out come early 2010.

What do you think of the casting, and how do you think Hawkes’ character will fit into the story?

Hiroyuki Sanada joins ABC’s ‘Lost’

Leading Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada, a former protégé of Sonny Chiba, has been cast to play an undisclosed character in the sixth and final season of ABC’s LOST TV series.

American audiences last saw Sanada as Mr. Musha in SPEED RACER, fight Jackie Chan in RUSH HOUR 3 and train Tom Cruise in THE LAST SAMURAI.

He is best known to martial arts film fans as a member of Chiba’s Japan Action Club and for his fighting roles in a series of period chambara films ranging from playing a teenage ninja in THE SHOGUN’S SAMURAI (1978) to a middle-aged swordsman in Yoji Yamada’s THE TWILIGHT SAMURAI (2002).

Season Six Poster

Everyone (except Ken and Barbie)** are in the poster.  More allusions to a time loop / starting over?  And notice that only Locke is turned around.

Mr Eko Wants To Get Lost Again

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

I dunno.  After slamming the show I’m torn on whether they should write him back in.

Mr. Eko Does An About-Face, Wants To Get Lost Again

Will we be seeing Lost’s mysterious Mr. Eko return for the ABC series’ final season? If actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has any say in it, the answer is yes… but maybe he’d say anything to escape GI Joe 2.

After asking to leave Lost during the show’s third season, Akinnuoye-Agbaje is now seemingly wanting back in for the show’s end run, telling reporters during a press appearance for GI Joe,

I’m here for [the Lost producers]. Adewale is open for business. We have had talks about some things they might do for the final season and there are other dead folks coming back allegedly but at the moment it is still a maybe. A strong maybe but I have not shot anything yet or signed any contracts. But I’m hoping.

Explaining about why he’d be willing to go back, he said,

I loved working with that team and the reception I got from people was phenomenal. Even at Comic-Con this year I went to sign my action figure for G.I. Joe and people had tons of questions about Lost. It makes you feel good that you could be off a show for more than a year and still have people thinking about your character. It was a great part.

A slight difference from Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s comments at the time that “the character was complete” following the actor being “devastated” about revelations about his history, accompanied by producer Carlton Cuse saying that “it was the best time to go our separate ways,” but I guess you can never underestimate the effect of starring in GI Joe will have on a man.

Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Do if you watched the audience question portion of the Comic Con video, you may remember the guy (comedian Paul Scheer) who presented Damon and Carlton with a velvet picture of Darlton with a polar bear.  Well, the guy has a website and it turns out that the site is owned by ABC.  So I’m thinking he’s working with Darlton to  pass out these clues to Season Six.  At the end of the video below he even reveals the name of the first episode “LA X.”  I think I’ll keep an eye on the site to see if anything interesting comes out.

I’m Going Back To School

I have officially signed up for Lost University. I wonder if Locke will be teaching the “Jungle Survival” class?

Faraday, Is That You?

I can’t believe it but our beloved Faraday played Manson in the 2004 version of Helter Skelter. Creepy.

Dom Joins Flash Forward

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Well, if Dominic Monaghan is really in this show then it may have a chance.  He says, however, in an interview that I saw that he’s not in the pilot but rather joins a few episodes into the show.  That could explain why I haven’t been able to find him in the show’s credits yet.  But… they may want to make a bigger deal of it if they are hoping to draw in Lost fans.

Penny Leaving?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Sonya Walger appears to have a lead part in the new ABC drama “Flash Forward.” I guess her part on Lost is small enough that she could probably do both but would she?  The new show is set to be the timeslot companion for Lost as well.  Would they use the same actress for both shows?
