Final Set?

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Enlarge picture below at your own risk.  Even if you do I don’t consider it to be a spoiler (you won’t see me post any spoilers prior to the premier because frankly I don’t want them!), just a tease.  This is reportedly from the set of Season 6.

The Captain Is Back

Friday, January 15th, 2010

In a TV Guide interview with Greg Grumberg, he revealed that he will be in the final season of Lost!  Remember Greg’s role as the captain of Flight 815 who survived the crash only to get really nosy and thrashed around and killed by old Smokey?  Here’s what he says,

” Fortunately, this is a guy who always lands on his feet. He confirmed some exciting news to me that has been the topic of much speculation among sci-fi fans. Greg will indeed be back in the February 2 season premiere of Lost as Seth Norris, the doomed captain of Oceanic flight 815 and the very first victim of the infamous smoke monster. “It’s a very cool wrap up that makes me so invested in watching this last season,” says Greg. His part, he concedes, is very small. “It’s actually a voiceover thing I was able to do in L.A. People are going to like hearing me as the Captain.”

Though he wants to keep his dialogue secret, it’s safe to assume it will be something along the lines of: “Fasten your seat belts. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.” ”

One could assume that Faraday’s plan worked and the bomb somehow “reset” time and we open Season 6 back on Flight 815.  But I can’t believe it’s that easy.  I’m thinking that either we’ll start with a scene from the original flight or they’ll be on the flight only to somehow flash back to the island.  Somehow they have to also join the 1977 group with the current day island group.

Lost After May, GG After May

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

ABC is kicking around ideas of what to do with the Lost franchise after May.  Frankly I’m concerned that the idea with become “watered down” with any kind of spin off (insert shiver here) or movies.  This article in Variety makes a good point that Star Trek has done well after the original series but without Darlton I’m pretty skeptical.

This gets me thinking about what to do with this website once Lost is off of the air.  If ABC can make a go of keeping Lost alive and it’s worthy of the original series I could keep up with that.  But I’ve also considered just letting the site die in honor of how great the show and the run has been.  I’ve also considered doing my own “spin off” of the site and keeping it themed to television, movies or scifi media.  Then there is the idea that I could totally switch gears and just go with a new idea and theme all together.

I’ve very much enjoyed the past five years here and for everyone that also writes their thoughts.  So any input in keeping our own little community together will be considered and appreciated.  Or, if you have a site and you”d take a moderator or guest writer I’m up for that too!

The New Big Bad

Monday, January 11th, 2010

More fun stuff from Kristen:

“For a good five seasons now, Benjamin Linus (Michael Emerson) has been one of the most spine-tingling, blood-curling “bad guys” on television and certainly the most creeptastic Other on ABC’s Lost.

But that’s about to change in the upcoming final season, starting Feb. 2, because there’s a new baddie on Lost who will make Ben Linus look more like the wimpy Peanuts character with whom he shares a name.

So who is this terrifying and awesome new Big Bad? What has he done and how will you see him?

As our 12 Days of Lost-mas—in which we stuff your stockings with spoilery goodies—continues, here are four true things I can tell you about the New Big Bad.

He:

* Killed **h*.
* Killed ***o*.
* Is *** **o** *****e*.
* Wants to “g* ****.”

Again, this time, all four of these things are true. Your job is to decifer the missing letters…

Maybe Santa will buy you a vowel for Christmas? ”

Josh Holloway’s Interview With TV Guide

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

He’s been shot, repeatedly beaten to bloody hell, circled by a hungry shark, chased by a Smoke Monster, electrocuted and locked in a polar-bear cage with only decades-old fish biscuits for sustenance. But James “Sawyer” Ford’s greatest adversary has long been Josh Holloway, who decreed early on that his wily hillbilly deserved to die as karmic penance for years spent conning the innocent.  hollowaybeach.jpgBut with just four months left of filming on the final season of Lost, the 40-year-old actor has had a change of heart. He’s lobbying for a stay of execution. “After six years, I love this character—he’s a living, breathing part of me,” says Holloway. “And I think he deserves a second chance to rectify some things he’s done. It would be a shame if he were not given that opportunity. I’d feel cheated.”

This newfound compassion sprang to life sometime between the shooting of last season’s explosive finale, in which Sawyer failed to save his sweetheart, Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell), and the first few episodes of the coming season, which finds Sawyer wrestling with deep guilt.

Still, whatever fate the island gods (aka exec producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse) bestow on Sawyer, come May 2010, Holloway will be ready to slip out of those soiled denims, cut off that long hair and move back to Los Angeles to pursue film roles. “By then, Sawyer’s story will have been told,” says Holloway. “My journey has been full.”

Strolling past a beach not far from his home in Oahu, Holloway says he’s not alone in his feelings of satisfaction and gratitude. With the groundbreaking series’ end nearing, he’s noticed the cast rediscovering a profound appreciation for the show and one another. “It’s just been a pleasure on set this year,” he says. “When we see each other, there’s this joy that’s lovely.”

“It feels like high school’s going to end, and we’re getting wistful,” agrees costar Terry O’Quinn (Locke). “There’s a sweetness to these days.”

“Everyone has a sense of last moments,” echoes Michael Emerson (Ben). “Maybe this will be the last scene we shoot at this old location…or maybe this is the last time I’ll talk to this particular character.”

But it hasn’t always been like this. Holloway concedes that as the seasons wore on, dips in camaraderie could be seen as actors buried their heads in both iPhones and feature-film scripts. Now there’s “silly conversations” with Emerson, Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and Ken Leung (Miles), impromptu jazz sessions with O’Quinn, Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) and Naveen Andrews (Sayid). And Yunjin Kim (Sun) says she, Jeff Fahey (Lapidus) and Leung have even taken Pilates classes together, “as an excuse to hang out off set.”

“There is an energy here now that is reminiscent of the first year, which was so magical,” says Holloway.

Back then, Holloway never could’ve envisioned the bizarre turns the trippy series would take, including time travel, conversations with the undead and the discovery of an ominous giant four-toed statue. Yet he acknowledges the roller-coaster plot brought out some of Sawyer’s finest moments. His favorite: when Sawyer and Kate (Evangeline Lilly) were imprisoned face-to-face in the Others’ cages in Season 3. His least: Sawyer’s recurring con of sleeping with women, taking their cash and skipping town. “It didn’t feel real, and I always felt stupid doing it,” he says.

More recently, he objected to his character’s content life with Juliet, which turned Sawyer into somewhat of a softie. “I rejected it when I first got the scripts. I was like, ‘C’mon, he’s a nice guy now? Head of security? What bulls–t.’ It was scary for me. I didn’t want to lose his edge.”

Holloway needn’t worry. Come February, he—and fans—can expect a reemergence of the sorely missed badass Sawyer. But not before tying up the Juliet story line. Mitchell, who’s moved on to star in V, recently returned to Hawaii to shoot some top-secret scenes.

“It was pretty poignant and important to the setup of things people will discover later on,” says Holloway. “We had this amazing experience, and then she was gone again.”

Similar reunions were recently enjoyed with other long-gone costars. Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) and Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) have all returned to film a few scenes. And Emilie de Ravin’s Claire will be back full-time this season.

But the reunion many fans are dying to see is Sawyer and Kate. In last season’s ender, the two shared a longing glance, witnessed by an intuitive (and heartbroken) Juliet, who realized there’s still major chemistry brewing. Still, in the aftermath of Juliet’s demise, Holloway says Sawyer’s agony makes it “not possible for him to be with Kate. Right now, he doesn’t give a f— about life…or anyone in it. He’s destroyed inside. There’s an undeniable love for Kate, but everything inside of him is fighting not to go there.”

Holloway’s not even sure he could swallow a happily-ever-after conclusion for Sawyer and Kate, whom he describes as two lone wolves—passing ships in the night. “I think she would have a happier life with Jack,” he admits. “More so than with Sawyer.” Kim, whose Sun remains separated from husband Jin this season, disagrees: “I think Kate’s suited for Sawyer.”

At this point, Holloway can guarantee only one happy ending: his own. “It’s been an honor and a pleasure to take this journey with this group of people and with this caliber of writing,” he says. “It’s priceless what it’s done for me as an artist and a human being. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

Ninth Day of Lost-Mas

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Thanks Kristen for some great stuff!  I’m jealous that she has all of these great scoops.

” According to sources, all of these things will be said in the first six hours of Lost’s new season (starting Feb. 2), and they are pivotal to the plot:

1. “Am I alive?”
2. “It turned out she did not want out.”
3. “I wanted you to be able to go home.”
4. “I was killed by an *** ******.”
5. “I was supposed to die.”

Who says what? And why?

I’ll give you a clue. The first one is not a female, and is the same person as #5.”

White House Could Derail ‘Lost’ Premiere Plans

ABC insiders may soon want to tell President Obama to get “Lost.”

The White House is finalizing plans for this year’s State of the Union address and is said to be mulling two dates for the speech, according to a person familiar with the matter: Jan. 26 and Feb. 2.

So what’s wrong with that? Well, Jan. 26 would mean an interruption of “American Idol” — though Fox likely planned for that (or would simply tell the White House to take a hike, as it has before).

But Feb. 2? Other than the fact that it’s a holiday (Groundhog Day/TV MoJoe’s birthday), that’s the date ABC months ago staked out for the premiere of the final season of “Lost.”

Yeah, right. We know.

The White House has already royally peeved the broadcast networks by scheduling so many prime time news conferences and speeches during President Obama’s first year in office.

But forcing ABC to move “Lost”? Such a move could make the Tea Party protesters look like flies.

It could make the wrath of Rush and Drudge look pathetic.

Plus, it would be really bad Dharma. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

The good news, according to sources, is that the White House hasn’t decided to press the button on the Feb. 2 idea. No doubt ABC has made its displeasure with the date very clear.

After all, it’s not like the network hasn’t been airing promos for the Feb. 2 date every three seconds since November.

“Lost” fans may already be mobilizing to halt this madness. Particularly since logic would suggest ABC would be forced to move back the “Lost” premiere to Feb. 9 — forcing fans to wait another week for answers.

Desmond In Season Six?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Another tease:

“Desmond, aka Henry Ian Cusick.

Assuming the rumors are true that Lost’s sixth season will center around that fateful Oceanic Flight 815, which Desmond was not on, does that mean we won’t see Des?

Here’s what I can tell you…

1. According to sources, we will see Desmond again…
2. …fairly early on in the season.
3. His first appearance will be with one of the Losties, and the scene/encounter is very surprising.
4. You guys are going to love it! (Honestly)

That’s all I can spill for now, ’cause I’m told this is one surprise you won’t want to be spoiled for. “

BEST Idea EVER!!

If this is real I’ll be the first in line!

Will Disney Ditch Tom Sawyer Island for a “Lost” ride?
A group of die-hard “Lost” fans is urging Disney to pay homage to ABC’s “Lost” by building a ride based on the show at one of its theme parks.

A crazy idea? Not to “Lost” overlords Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, who’ve seemed to endorse the idea by backing  an online petition urging Disney to consider the idea.

The budding Internet movement began with a “Lost” fan named Jon Stueve, who suggested the concept by arguing that “Disney should give this awesome show its due” by creating a “Lost Island” at either Disneyland or Disney World.

Lindelof and Cuse apparently agree: They’ve both indicated, via their respective Twitter feeds, that they’re on board.

“Consider the petition signed!” wrote Lindelof Tuesday.

Cuse, meanwhile, gave thumbs up as well.

“While I like the idea of Tom Sawyer’s island getting a LOST do-over, I’d rather see Disney make a big LOST E-ticket ride,” the producer wrote. (Disney revamped Tom Sawyer Island a few years ago; it’s now officially Pirate’s Lair at Tom Sawyer Island).

As of early Wednesday morning, the petition has attracted about 1500 signatures. But the idea could be going viral: Yahoo! featured a link to a blog post about the movement on its homepage Tuesday night.

So what would a “Lost Island” look like? The petition suggested including the following show landmarks in any design:

–The frozen donkey wheel behind the Orchid Station testing chamber.
- -The Swan station and Hatch ride
– A submarine ride to Palu Ferry.
– Dharmaville Barracks.
– Smoke monster
- -Jacob’s Cabin.

Disney these days has shown more of a willingness to turn park attractions into filmed entertainment than vice versa. But “Lost” clearly has a big fan base, making the notion of some sort of attraction not completely insane — particularly since Cuse and Lindelof have indicated they’re not behind the notion of a movie or spinoff series after the show signs off in May.

Stay tuned.
