3 X 13: The Man From Tallahassee
No, there are no reruns this season. But there are huge breaks in story lines. For instance, Locke sees his dad tied up on a mysterious island that he is trapped on but we won’t be seeing any more of what happens from there for five weeks! But, there aren’t any reruns!
1. Locke did not age well after he did/didn’t shoot the cop/kid on the commune. In these shots he looks as old as his dad!

2. How many people go on disability for depression? Not to mention that Locke was some type of home appraiser/fix it man (remember he was at Nadia’s house?) so I would assume his benefits wouldn’t be that great. I think this is *another* indication that he was a former military man. VA benefits for depression make more sense that just a regular health insurance carrier. Later, Ben asks John how he is going to navigate the sub, it’s complicated machinery (Ben knows something) and Locke says, “For all you know, I was a commander in the Navy). It all goes along with Nate’s comment on the last blog.
3. What is on Jack’s arm? It looks like a new tattoo but when would he have gotten this? Oh yeah, Claire is a tattoo artist (just kidding).

4. I can’t make out what these metals are, but here is a screenshot of them (they are said to be Navy metals-see the comments after my last post).

5. When Kate comes upon Jack playing the piano, it sounds like the same song he was playing in the lobby before his wedding (remember that Sara finds him there?).
6. Ben asks “Richard” to bring him the man from Tallahassee. He HAS to know that this is Locke’s dad. Why else would Ben ask for him but more importantly, WHERE did he come from, WHERE have they been keeping him, WHY is he bound and gagged and HOW does he know that he is Locke’s dad. My sister thinks his dad is a hallucination. This makes sense considering they drugged Kate when they captured her, maybe Locke has been given some of his own wacky paste. He could see anything in that *magic box!*
7. Do you remember Richard — he tricked Juliet into going to the island. Richard was in Florida and “The Man From Tallahassee” was Locke’s dad. Is there a connection? Did Richard also get Locke’s dad to come to the island for some reason (redemption) or maybe he really was some type of computer entrepreneur and they wanted him for his *skills.*

8. Ben and Locke both had some really good lines this time. Ben: No, unfortunately we don’t have a code for “There’s a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter’s head. Later, Ben: … it was immediate… and you were just walking…. right away… the same day of the crash? Locke: That’s what immediate means Ben. More, Locke: Where do you get electricity? Ben: We have two giant hamsters running in a massive wheel in a our secret underground hatch.
9. More of those red flowers.

10. I’m not so convinced that this is the *real* Sawyer. It’s hard to tell with Lost because sometimes the most obvious answer *is* the answer! Locke’s dad scams single women. The real Sawyer seemed to scam couples (sure, he probably woo’ed the wives first) for their money. Plus Anthony is a killer. Sawyer’s dad killed himself. Maybe it is, maybe not.
11. Locke needs to stop pressing the damn proverbial *button.* He really seems to have a big heart and means to do well (except for blowing up the sub which was purely selfish) but it keeps ending up really badly (things blowing up, people dying, etc…).
12. Mr. Friendly and Jack have made friends somehow. When he brings Jack to see Kate he tells him to “Be careful in here” and points to his ear (obviously the Others are listening to him). Cool, maybe he’ll head back to the camp and we’ll get that backstory on him now.

13. Jack asks Kate again if they hurt her. It’s the same question he asked her when Juliet brought her down to ask him to do the surgery. I like the chemistry between Kate and Jack better, but Lord help us please don’t make this show a soap opera.
14. I loved that when Ben is questioning Locke intently about walking again Locke stops and asks “You got anything to eat?” just like when Ben stopped and asked (in the hatch) if they had any milk. Excellent dialog.
15. Finally! Someone tells Alex about her mother (well, sort-of). I think she’s eventually going to find out the Ben is not her father at all. At some point I could see Danielle emerging from the shadows. That was her goal from Season One, right? Remember when she had Sayid tied up and kept asking where Alex was?
16. Sayid has a watch on. Again, I ask, why is everyone wearing watches? They take a licking and keep on ticking but can they never said anything about a magnetic, mysterious island. Oh, and a clock in Ben’s house.

17. What is the magic box? Is it like Locke’s “Sweat Lodge” only on a much larger scale? Damon Lindelof states in the last podcast that there isn’t really a physical box, it’s just a metaphor that Ben uses to put it into perspective for Locke what is on the island.
18. I know this is just a tv show, but the scene where Danielle sees Alex just broke my heart. Maybe it’s because I’m a mom and I can’t imagine wondering for 16 years the fate of your daughter on a island with sicknesses and violent strangers then suddenly knowing she was OK but not being able to run out and hug her. *Ugh!*

19. Most excellent shot of the show.

20. (See comments on last post). I wondered the same thing but didn’t draw the same conclusions. Why was Locke soaking wet? How did he know how to just flip on the light switch without a thought?
21. This makes Locke looks so evil! But at least he said he was sorry! And all who noticed the explosion is in the middle of the pier and not off to the side where the sub was, I would say you are all right. That sub is not gone at all.

22. I guess we know now where Locke found his determination (don’t tell me what you can’t do)! I like this guy. He’s like the angel that comes to Locke after being attacked by the devil.

23. Posting a spoiler for tomorrow. Whether it’s real or not I do not know but I sure HOPE it’s for real!

I’m pretty sure the pot commune is actually Locke’s oldest flashback. It’s prior to all of his other ones.

See my post http://www.gitsiegirl.com/3-x-3-further-instructions.htm. His license expires in ‘02 which puts him in somewhere in that time period when he was at the commune. However, Ben says he was in the wheelchair for four years before the plane crash so that is pretty good evidence that the commune was in very close time proximity to the flashback Locke we saw last week since we know the plane crashed for sure in 2004.
