I think Ellie knew she would shoot Dan, but felt that there was a set order to how things must go. Dan seemed bent on denying that things could not be changed, only to die and disprove himself...... i can't help but think this show is going to focus on pitting the two groups of remaining losties against each other based upon whether to prevent the crash, and change the future, or let the course play out and what ever happens, happens. it seems like this show always divideds the cast based upon faith/science kinds of issues. just my $.02. On a side note Charlie is in the new Wolverine, X-men movie. if i remember correctly Miles was in the last one....maybe that explains all of this? Lots to think about on these last few episodes. Remember the movie Star Gate where they plan to send the bomb back with some of their super minerals making it a hundred times more powerful to destroy the Earth? Something like that. That way Charlotte will never be able to return to the island since it'll no longer exist.
