Initial Thoughts: The End (pt2)

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I think I may still be crying from last night! I know that I am biased to this show but I challenge any show out there to come up with a better and more satisfying ending than what we just saw on Lost.  After six years of building and building you would have to wonder just how brilliant and involved the writers would have to be to come up with just the “right” ending, and they managed to do it.

Do we still have questions, YES!  But I’m OK with that.  I really started getting it in my head that I didn’t want them to answer everything.  I like my ideas and my theories and sure, they could have addressed a few of the bigger issues but I really am OK going out like we have.

NOTE: I don’t have a copy of the epi last night so I don’t have screen caps yet.

1.  Yes, I watched Jimmy Kimmel live and he addressed two items that I thought about as well.  One, why weren’t Michael and Walt in the church?  The first thought is that Walt isn’t dead yet so he can’t be there.  As for Michael, is he not headed to the same white light they are?  Harold Perrineau said it is because Michael is “trapped” on the island, like he told Hurley earlier this season.  I like that better than what I thought.  The other idea he presented is that the show was Jack’s redemption song, if you will and I like that too.

2.  However, I was laying there last night and still crying… and thinking that there were many of them that found redemption on the island.  Yes, Jack was our main character and the show really focused on his redemption especially this season but I like to think that the reason they can all meet in the church is that they all found their redemption.

3.  I also like the idea that in many religions that there is the theory that you are reincarnated, if you will, until you get “it right” and at that point you can go on to heaven.  I don’t think that everyone in that church died at the same time but that they were all kind of wandering around waiting on each other to come before they could all go.  I think the message there is of hope.

3.  So I guess Jack and Jacob had a little more talking off camera.  Sounded like Jack knew that he was only the temporary carrier of the torch.

4.  I was thrilled that Richard didn’t die so easily at the hands of Smokey.  I loved that by releasing the light Richard was set free and started showing a gray hair.  I just wonder after being on an island for hundreds of years what on earth could he possibly do back on land?  Imagine the culture shock!

5.  And I also never would have guessed Claire and Kate BOTH raising Aaron.  Nice touch.

6.  When Jack was down in the cave I kept expecting him to come roaring out as a plume of WHITE smoke.  Especially when he woke up in a very similar position as MIB after he was thrown in the cave.  His death, if I may, was beautiful and poetic.  And when Vincent came over and laid down beside him it was all over for me.  I couldn’t actually fully see the ending because I had a good “ugly” cry going on.

7.  So Des got a look at “the other side” when Widmore had him in the cabin with the electromagnetic energy and that is why he did whatever they needed him to do.  He knew that on “the other side” he would end up with Penny and his friends and he knew that everything that happened on the island didn’t matter.  I like when he is about to go into the cave how he tries telling Jack but Jack seems to still be holding on to one little bit of his science minded side.

8.  I love that this episode opens basically telling us the end.  The coffin is not for Christian at all.

9.  So David was what?  Just a wish of Jack’s?  That in an of itself is totally heartbreaking.

10.  I can’t believe that the big Jesus statue with it’s arms open didn’t clue me in to what was really going on.   Then there was Kate asking why she was “here” and Des telling her that no one could tell her why she was there.  And him telling her that he just wanted to leave.

11.  I was totally expecting Eko to show up and preside over Jack’s funeral.  That was disappointing actually.

12.  Them all being dead in the side time line explains why they could see the flashes of the island (life flashing before their eyes) but the island folks couldn’t see to the side.

13.  Miles and Sawyer both got off the island.  I guess those two really could become cops back home.

14.  I love that Hurley is the real care taker of the island and that Ben agrees to help him.  I bet Hurley could come up with some crazy rules for that island.  Did the writers know this way back when?  I remember Hurley coming out of the forest in a robe looking very angelic back in one of Charlie’s weird dreams.  I worry about Ben though because we have seen that he’s got a very, very bad side.  I would hope by Hurley telling him he was a “good number 2″ that means that Ben was good to him on the island.

15.  I guess Desmond’s flash of seeing Claire get off of the island in a helicopter was wrong.

16.  The smile on Hurley’s face when he first sees Charlie is priceless.  Sweet.  I loved when Sayid asks him “what was that” he says “that was Charlie.”  LOL’d

17.  And Vincent!  Hooray!  I’m so glad, even though it’s silly, that we got to see the fate of that dog.  I guess we can assume that Rose and Bernard do live happily ever after too now the Hurley is running the show on the island.  They are the new Others, only they don’t get involved.

18.  Des is the only one that crossed to the other side and came back.

19.  Since this seemed to be Jack centered redemption, then the show ending on the 23rd makes even more sense.

20.  Cracked me up when Flocke asked Jack how he planned to kill him and he told him it was a surprise.  Sounded like something Sawyer would have said.

21.  Dan and Charlotte aren’t “ready” yet and thus no flashback and they are not in the church.  Plus, they weren’t really a huge part of the Losties lives so I can see why they wouldn’t be there.  Plus it was nice that they left Dan behind to be with his mother.  As mothers we can understand why she would want him to stay with her.

22.  I loved the look on Charlie’s face when he sees Claire.

23.  MIB cracks Jack a good one upside the head with a rock.  Like mother like son!

24.  The Jack and Locke fist fight was a long time coming and it did not disappoint.  Especially the part where Jack pushes him off of the edge of the cliff.

25.  Did I mention yet that it’s a good thing Des got them all dressed up since they are all going to their funeral (s)?

26.  There has been a lot of speculation about the rain.  I think that the rain is brought on by the light or the island.  What it means is still to be discussed but after Des uncorked the light it started raining.

27.  I’ve rethought (already) why Ben didn’t go inside the church.  His real love is Alex.  Alex is probably not ready yet to cross over.  Ben logically wants to wait for her.  Christian says everyone wants someone to cross with and it makes sense that Ben would want to cross with her.

28.  Duct tape.  I think that they have a new use they could show in their ads.

29.  Did you guys have the Lost-related Target commercials?  I really loved that someone on-staff is obviously a Lost fan and they would make special commercials just for us.  I will do more shopping there just for that.  I already do shop there but I may think of them first for other things now too.  I couldn’t TiVo through them so at least they were entertaining.

30.  Fitting for MIB to die the way the Locke should have.  Locke was thrown from the window and landed just like MIB did on the edge.  I’m also glad they let him go before the end because I didn’t want the end to be a scene of them fighting.  This gave time to really build to a meaningful conclusion to the show.

31.  After Hurley drank the water (which was filthy, btw) he looked like he kept waiting on something to happen.  Can Hurley give Ben everlasting life like Jacob did for Richard?

32.  I was holding my breathe until the plane made it up in the air.  This show is so unpredictable I wasn’t sure if they would really make it or not.  But I’m glad they did.  And I’m glad that I can make up what happens from there for myself.  And if you’ve ever seen Stephen King’s The Langoliers you were probably wondering what they would face once up in the air too.

33.  So the plug in the cave is like one big button to press?

34.  Jack wakes up in the same pool area that we’ve seen many times.  Kate and Sawyer took a swim there and Kate, Jack and Hurley woke up there after being transported off of the Ajira flight.  It must be close to The Source and would explain why it’s special.

35.  I will post some screen shots of the office Jack enters at the church.  Appears to be religious symbols from every religion you can think of.  Bravo Producers.

36.  Jack and his daddy issue = RESOLVED!  And wow was it moving.

The End.

6 X 16: What They Died For

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

What did they die for? I was thinking back to Season 2 (I think) when Locke had Ben trapped in the “safe” with Sayid.  Jack tried going to stop Sayid from torturing Ben.  Locke stopped him and said something to the effect that anything happening behind that door was necessary because they are in a war.  My point being, everyone being brought to the island and perhaps even their deaths is part of that same war – the war between good and evil.  The people brought to the island both Flight 815 and before are soldiers in the war.

I also think when Jacob told Richard he brings people there to “prove a point” to MIB that people can make the right choice.  But so far what choices is he talking about?  Ben chooses to be with MIB but does that make him immediately bad?  The killing people part was before he agreed to side with MIB and at that point he was supposedly on Jacob’s side.  And why bring people to prove a point?  Is he lying?  Which is the correct answer- bringing them to prove a point or bringing them to take over for him?  Or, and I think the most accurate, bringing them there for company because being alone on an island for all those years sure can make one pretty lonely.

1.  On an aside, I just watched Josh Holloway on Jimmy Kimmel and he mentioned the best show idea.  If there would be a spin off I’d watch this is the one!  Sawyer and Miles cop show.  Now, wouldn’t that be fun to watch?  No island mysteries, just a good old fashioned cop show.

2.  Is this eye opening thing ever going to amount to more than just a common thread between episodes?  Now that we are down to the wire I have my doubts.  However, I have decided that I’m OK not knowing all the answers.  Sure, it would be nice to have some explanations but I am OK with my theories on things and I don’t need everything explained.  I’m hoping mostly just for a killer ending (which I have a theory on and will post later here).

3.  Looks like the original timeline is literally “bleeding” through.  I cannot believe that the writers would show us this twice without it having significance.

4.  How odd that Desmond calls Jack to lie about finding his father’s body.  Jack is already going to the concert so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

5.  Out of the four left Hurley has suffered the most loss.  He has lost Libby and Charlie on top of Sun, Jin and Sayid.  They’ve put him through a lot and I’d like to see somewhat of a happy ending for Hurley.  I’m not sure the other three will get that but seems like Hurley also has the most to lose back home too if he would decide to stay on the island.

6.  Here’s Ben getting beat up again.  A couple of things about this scene.  First of all, Desmond is acting like Jacob here beating people up.  Seems like Jacob had a hot temper.  Also, Desmond didn’t need to beat the crap out of Ben but when Ben asked the question of who he is Des seemed less interested in getting Ben to “see” something as far as enlightening him and more interested in some overdue revenge from when Ben tried to kill Penny.  Lastly, Des says he’s there to get Locke to “let go.”  Maybe someone by getting Locke to let go he’s trying to really get to Flocke and have him let go of the hold he has on Locke’s body?  What else is Locke holding on to that he needs to let go of?

7.  I want to know what Alex said that Miles was picking up.  Perhaps we will still find out in a moment where Miles needs some ammunition to calm down Ben?  Why else show this to us and remind us that Miles can hear the dead?  Miles even started to say, “I don’t think…” before Richard stopped him.

8.  Ben says that he was told he could summon the monster.  He also says that was before he discovered it was actually summoning him.  Who told Ben about the monster?  I’m thinking Smokey himself.  Maybe for a real reason and maybe just to mess with The Others and have a little “fun.”

9.  I know you’ve said that you really like the mean & evil Ben and I agree, he plays a fantastic bad guy.  I think that Ben did intend to help the Losties until he saw Widmore.  I imagine he was REALLY irritated when Widmore started bossing him around too.  Then for Widmore to say he talked to Jacob (knowing now that Jacob talked to Ben for the first time in the foot) must have just put him over the edge.  Ben decided then that he wanted his control back and the only way to do that was to side with Flocke.  Guess he got part of his wish, too, when he got to kill Widmore.

10.  Ben’s reflection looked somewhat distorted to me.  But that just might be my perception.  I did got back and watch this several times and it looks like Ben furrows his brow almost like he knows something or suspects his own reflection.

11.  Sawyer tells Miles that he isn’t going to the concert.  I guess if Des clues him in that 3 fugitives are there he can get him to go there!

12.  It is really weird that Des asks Kate “… and how are you doing today?”  I can see why she and Sayid would think he was insane.

13.  Every once in awhile Sawyer’s humanity pokes through.  I figured he was going to feel responsible for Sun and Jin’s death but not enough to volunteer to take over Jacob’s job.

14.  Jacob must pick and chose who he “reveals” himself to.  When he appeared as a little boy originally Sawyer could see him and now Hurley can see him but not Kate.  And why show up as the little boy to get the ashes from Hurley?  Hurley would have readily handed them over to adult Jacob.  Again, may be an unanswered question so let’s make our own reasons!  Because like the magical spell put on the water that turns an ordinary man into a timeless island man, Jacob can only set the spell as a boy that will enable him to appear to all of them and have a fireside chat.  There, I don’t need their reasons, I have my own!

15.  Red flowers all around Jacob.

16.  The last we saw of Richard he was flying through the air.  I am not on board with believing he is dead.  It was just too abrupt for a character of his importance.  Plus, I think that at some point Ben will show a morsel of kindness to Richard in appreciation of him burying Alex.

17.  Cute, Alex tells Ben he looks like Napolean.

18.  Alex asks Ben why someone would beat him up and Ben says “I guess they had me confused with someone else.”  Yes Ben, Des sure did.

19.  I liked seeing Danielle all cleaned up.  And if this is not the last couple you would put together in Lost then I don’t know who is!

20.  Widmore says he brought Des back because of his resistance to electromagnetism.  Could they be planning to throw Desmond in the cave of light?  Will that be what stops MIB?  Or maybe Des can go into the light cave and extinguish whatever source keeps MIB alive.  We know Des can survive it.

21.  I thought for sure that Flocke was going to cut Widmore’s throat when he leaned in to whisper.  Who knows, he might have if Ben hadn’t shot him first.  And, I wonder if Widmore didn’t really give him the reason he is there or maybe not all the information.  They better hope so!

22.  Ironically, Flocke tells Ben that he got the info that he needed before Ben shot Widmore so “no harm done.”  Yeah, no harm, just two dead bodies.  Ho hum.

23.  Sawyer asks a good question, why should they pay for Jacob’s sins?  He doesn’t really answer the question but rather goes on to speak about their lonely existence back home.  I also wonder if Jacob also answered the infertility question.  He took Kate off the list because she became a mother.  Perhaps those on the island were all candidates and Jacob couldn’t use a mother so he selfishly ended their pregnancies?  He did say to them that he chose them because they needed the island as much as the island needed them.  I suppose when you become a mother there is someone that now needs you more than the island.

24.  I love Sawyer’s line, “And I thought that guy had a God complex before.”

25.  However, Hurley follows by stating he’s glad it’s not him (taking Jacob’s place).  Makes me wonder… it really seemed far to easy to have Jack take over.  Perhaps Hurley just gave us some foreshadowing?

26.  Jacob really needed to get some MacCutcheon whiskey to inaugurate Jack into the Island Protector job.  Now that would have been an ironic twist!  Crappy pond water isn’t nearly as special.

27.  Now that Jack is the great island protector can he start making up his own rules since Jacob got to?

28.  Right after Jack drinks the magic pond water he sure looks like he suddenly knows stuff.

29.  Kate tries her best to flirt her way with Saywer and get out of jail but he isn’t having it.  That is good because he needs to be single for when he meets up with Juliet. ;)

30.  Flocke really made a big mistake in telling Ben that he’s going to destroy the island.  I believe that Ben was totally on board with Flocke until he found out that Flocke is going to destroy the one and only thing left in his life that he cares about and that is the island.  With a backpack full of C4 I’m sure that Ben is now going to be devising a plan to off Flocke and regain control.  Perhaps a Ben versus Jack ending to all of this?

31.  My thoughts on the ending are this.  I cannot believe that the writers are going to give us a happy ending.  If it was up to ABC that is exactly what we would get.  But these are the same writers that killed off Charlie, Sun and Jin (knowing they had a little kid at home) and just had Flocke slit Liz Lemon’s throat.  I think that when everyone converges at that concert Faraday is going to do a little course correction and kill them all.  This new timeline was not supposed to happen and he told Des that he is responsible.  The enlightened ones will know that, like Jake in The Dark Tower series would say, there are other worlds than this.  If he blows them up they will still exist somewhere.

32.  Or we may have a Stephen King ending where Jack opens the door only to find himself right back where we started, only with one tiny change that shows the viewer that he has another shot to get it right.  Perhaps Jack will wake up in the bamboo with Vincent by his side.

33.  One last thought, Miles hasn’t heard Flocke speak yet, right?  Does that mean he’s the only one left that can kill him?

Initial Thoughts: What They Died For…

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

OK so wow, more deaths.  I didn’t expect that Widmore would be killed off so easily.  I expected many more explosions and action from him and his group!

1.  Anyone else thinking that Jack drinking the water and taking over was just way too easy for this show?  I’m not buying it.  On one hand I think that Hurley is a good candidate because of his innocence.  On the other, Sawyer is a good pick because he’s a good guy at heart.  Either way, I’m not believing that Jack is going to stay and protect the light.

2.  Jack seeing another cut.  I’m wondering how the new time line is now literally “bleeding” through.

3.  How cute seeing Claire with Jack and David.  This new time line is just so happy that it cannot last.  It’s like when someone is telling you a joke and you keep wondering when they are going to get to the punch line.  We know something is coming up at that concert but who knows what its about!

4.  I haven’t commented a lot on the obvious things that we’ve seen before that have come up again (Jack now sewing up Kate, the phrase about mistaking coincidence with fate, and you know others) but I’m wondering if there is a subtle hint there.  A hint that things are coming full circle now and perhaps will continue to circle through Lost time.  Like holding two mirrors up to each other and the reflection goes on to infinity.  So will the events, sayings, relationships and so on in this Lost universe.  Perhaps in our own lives the same thing happens if you are paying attention?

5.  Maybe Kate won’t raise Aaron.  Maybe Kate will go back for Ji Yeon.  Wouldn’t that be a fun twist?

6.  Did you text your message to ABC?  I had to use my daughter’s phone because she’s with Verizon.  I asked them to use Gitsie Girl if they used mine so here’s hoping!

7.  Sawyer should know where at least one of the wells is located.  He helped lower Locke into the well when they were time traveling.

8.  I wonder if Ben didn’t stop Des if he was going to hit him again or just drive away.  And is Ben constantly being beat up or what?  I want to feel sorry for him but boy, I just don’t.

9.  I loved having Miles back.  We needed some comic relief.

10.  I’d really love to know what Alex “said” to Miles.

11.  Ben now has all that dynamite in his backpack.  Something is going to blow.  We’ve seen an ongoing theme that everyone has good and evil in them so the question is, who or what is Ben going to end up blowing up with all of that C4?

12.  Ben checking himself out in the mirror in the nurse’s office.  Guess he’s starting to really “see” isn’t he?  So much faith starting to show up in these people!

13.  Why does Des need Locke to “let go?”  Perhaps he needs Locke to die so that when Flocke is killed it doesn’t cross over or something along those lines happening between the two timelines.  I still think that Locke is going to be key in stopping Flocke.

14.  How convenient for Des that Sayid and Kate are in cells with one another.

15.  Sawyer’s guilt just might lead him to agree to protect the island as well.  It’s a powerful motivator.

16.  Here’s an answer – Jacob can appear as himself as a kid.  Guess it explains why he was following and taunting Flocke.

17.  Good thing they showed us all that equipment in Widmore’s canoe by the dock.  The Losties are going to need that to fight Flocke and we needed to know it’s there so when they get it we know where they got it.  Make sense?

18.  Smokey didn’t kill Richard.  Richard will be back in some form as I cannot accept that quick moment was his end.  He’s been far too important to this show.

19.  Why would Ben want the island now?  Alex and all of his people are gone so what is left there for him?  I can see why he would rat out Widmore, he wants him dead.  But there is good in everyone as we saw in the new timeline.  I’m till holding out hope that Ben will help the Losties out of love for the island since he has nothing else left.

20.  How weird seeing Danielle in a dress!  And I for one like the idea of Danielle and Ben hooking up.  After their rocky relationship on the island I like the idea that Ben can legitimately be part of Alex’s life in the new timeline.

21.  I really don’t think that Flocke knows what is off the island.  He’s never been “across the sea” so outside of what people have told him he really doesn’t know.

22.  Yeah, Widmore may have told Flocke some but I have a real feeling that he didn’t tell Flocke everything.  After all, Flocke didn’t even know why he was there so how would he know if Widmore told him everything?

23.  Apparently Jacob can reveal himself when he wants to so all those years he chose not to show himself to Ben.

24.  I still think at this point Sun and Jin did die for nothing but, until I see the last 2 1/2 hours on Sunday nothing is hopeless.  There may be meaning there yet!

25.  Here comes Locke, Mr Man of Faith in the new timeline.  Reminds me of Season One where Locke was so full of faith and Jack was so full of …. science.  That certainly turned around so I guess it can in the new timeline.

26.  Jacob is the anchor that hold Flocke there.  The rules state that Flocke and Jacob can’t kill each other and apparently Flocke can’t kill the candidates.  Now that Jack has been “baptized” by Jacob is he invincible like Flocke (can’t be killed by bullets)?  And how on earth will they kill Flocke unless Des being the fail safe will “turn the key” so to speak once again.

27.  Hurley saying “I’m glad it’s not me” in reference to taking over the island makes me think even more he could take on the position.  Jack taking over is just so simple and obvious.  Unless the island is somehow destroyed by the new timeline and it ends up that none of them have to take over.  That they can all live in the new timeline happily and not so lonely.

28.  Des is pretty creepy around the Losties in the new timeline.

29.  Somewhere along the line Des convinced Hurley and then some that whatever they are doing in the new timeline is vitally important.  I love Des and Hurley working together.  He’s shown him “whatever” to the point he even recognizes Ana Lucia!  And Hurley and Sayid back together too.

30.  OK, first Flocke tells Ben that if he helps him he’ll leave and turn the island over to him.  Now he says he’s going to use Des to destroy the island.  Will this be what turns Ben around and has him end up killing Flocke to protect the island?  Ben only ha s the island left.  His people are gone and Alex is gone.  The island is the only thing that he really cares about that is still around and now Flocke wants to blow it up.

31.  And where is Vincent?  I know that we won’t get all the answers and really I’m OK with that.  But I really want to know where that damn dog is.

More numbers.  Good shots of the numbers.  But who is 108???  I’m voting Desmond.  He’s special.

1.  First shot.  Jack’s dad in a white suit, Jack and his mom in black.

2.  Second picture, Jack smiling with his arm around his dad.  Maybe Locke isn’t the only one in this new timeline that has resolved his “daddy issues.”  Not only do they look happy, but to have a picture of his dad out?  Most of us only keep pictures out of the people that we really care about, not some drunken relative that ruined our life.

3.  Jack looking in the mirror.  Seems to be a theme going here.  Alive on the “other side” and you look at yourself in the mirror (Locke didn’t).

4.  Jack suddenly discovers the appendix scar.  This Jack had it taken out at 7 or 8, Original Jack had his taken out three years ago.  He just now discovers the scar?  I’m thinking that things on the island are somehow crossing over like Faraday talking to Desmond  back in time then Desmond “remembering” it.

5.  I love that Jack has a kid and I love that he’s a “good” kid.  He gets his redemption with his son also.  Uh oh, we know what happens to characters that find redemption (at least on the island).

6.  Lots of reflections in this episode.  Next scene is Jack looking at himself in the water.  Jack seems to have some sort of “feeling” or intuition that there is more then just his one timeline.

7.  They must be going to do more with Miles then have him play tick-tac-toe.  He talks to dead people too.  Maybe one for each side?

8.  Hurley has become Jacob’s new Ben.  I remember Ben telling Locke that he wouldn’t be able to see Jacob and was shocked when he did hear him (help me).  Now Hurley is in the same position when Jack asks to see him.  And Ben told Locke that it didn’t work like that when Locke insisted he take him to talk to Jacob.

9.  The book David was reading “Annotated Alice’… Jack starts to talk about “Kitty and Snowdrop” who were the black and white kittens and according to Wikipedia, “At the end of the book they are associated with the Red Queen and the White Queen respectively in the looking glass world.”  Ah, so many crossover themes!

10.  Could anyone hear what David was listening to?  Jeronimo Jackson or Driveshaft?

11.  Jin hurt his “left” leg.  Locke was always hurting his left leg.  When Michael hurt his leg it was the left leg.  Claire points to her left leg when she says she was shot.  Probably doesn’t mean anything but at least they are consistent.

12.  Claire knows that they left the island?  If she saw the whole thing then wouldn’t she be shocked to see them back?

13.  OK so Hurley, dude,  THE best lines this week!  Indiana Jones stuff, Obi Wan Kanobi, lying to a samari… ROTFL!

14.  Dogan knows that the candidates are but Richard doesn’t?

15.  Do we know why the line “you have what it takes” means so much to Jack?  I’m thinking that he had conversation with his dad but not the specifics.  Jack talks to David near the end and says that his dad always told him that he “didn’t have what it takes” but can there be more to this then just the obvious?

16.  The doll that Claire has in the bassinet solidifies the fact that he is coo-coo for coco puffs.  That was so creepy!

17.  Oh yeah, and the fact that she just kills the temple guy without blinking an eye.

18.  And yes, I noticed how much she and Danielle were alike. But I think Claire has a huge lead on the crazy train over Danielle.

19.  I love the new crazy jungle claire too.  Without the perfect hair and make up she looks pretty cool!

20.  Claire’s buddy is Christian, I think she sees Christian.  Jin saw Locke.  He takes all sorts of forms.  Who will Jack see???

21.  It’s nice to see that Jack has stopped drinking back in the new time line.

22.  Did you catch the “McKutcheon” whiskey at Jack’s mom’s house?  I’ll get a screen shot.  It’s Desmond and Widmore’s whiskey if you recall.

23.  And Jack’s dad must not be too much better if he still has an illegitimate child (Claire) in the new time line.

24.  Should be very interesting when Kate does reveal she’s been raising Aaron.  Kate can really kick some butt and our new Claire is pretty intense.  Going to be quite the showdown.

25.  Shannon’s inhaler was finally found!  They thought that Sawyer stole it and if memory serves he got quite a beating over that thing.

26.  Did Hurley just tell us who is in the cave?  Is it Rose and Bernard perhaps?

27.  Was I the only one who loves seeing the caves again?  Very nostalgic.

28.  I think it was Jacob that led Jack to the cave.  Jacob tells Hurley that Jack has to find the answers in his own way and finding the coffin was probably one of the ways to lead him there.

29.  I assume that Sara is David’s mother but I guess it doesn’t have to be her.  I notice that they didn’t show the “mother” in any pictures, she was “out of town” when Jack went to the house and they never say her name.

30.  House key hidden in the rabbit.  Another reoccuring theme – rabbits.  But this bunny didn’t have any numbers on it.

31.  I guess by Jack hearing his message on the answering machine for David (before he left Australia) answers the question of whether this time line started on the plane.

32.  Jack came back to the island because he was broken.  Jack always has to fix things!  His faith brought him back because he thought the island could fix him.  And it will.

33.  Jack questions why they hadn’t seen the lighthouse before.  Maybe it’s like the cabin that appears and disappears.

34.  Remember how much Faraday wanted to play the piano but his mother wouldn’t let him because he had more important things to do?  I just can’t help but think there is some connection between David and Daniel.

35.  Dogan at the tryouts.  Coincidence?

36.  Gotta get screen shots again of those numbers.  Now this looks much more like Jacob’s work (very detailed and orderly).  I think Desmond is at 108 degrees.

37.  How cool were the reflections in the mirrors?  Will have to screen cap but I thought I also saw buildings from sun and Jin’s meeting with Jacob.  Why Jack’s childhood house for him to see?

38.  Someone bad is going to the temple?  Could that someone be Claire?

Initial Thoughts: The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham

I didn’t get to watch the pop up episode before the new one this week.  Anyone have any good stuff from it?

1.   How could Locke not be nominated for an Emmy award for acting?  He has been spectacular this season so hopefully we’ll see a nomination next year.  Although, Lost isn’t the show dejour anymore so who knows if the powers that be will even notice.

2.   Alana tells Cesar that she first saw Locke standing in the water in his suit.  I just watched part of Season One again this past weekend and the first time Jack sees his dad on the island is…. you guessed it, just standing there in the water, in his suit!  I think this is confirmation that Jack’s dad had some sort of resurrection like Locke has had coming back to the island.

3.  Cesar and the new plane crash “Losties” are on the second island.  He knows stuff.  Why else would he be looking for maps and information about the island?  Why does he need the shot gun?  Seems like someone gave him some insider information before he came to the island.

4.  Also looks like rather than a tragic plane crash, they were lucky to have the landing strip that Kate and Sawyer helped build.  My guess is that in some of the time travel they knew that the plane would be coming with Locke so they were building the strip for that landing specifically.

5.   Frank and “some woman” took one of the boats and headed off.  Great, now I’m wondering what Frank is up to (I thought he was a good guy).  How could he have possibly known that they had landed on a second island?  Who was the woman he was with, where did they go, what are the up to?
6.  Is Alana going to be the new Ana Lucia of the island – only far less annoying?  She fits the tough cop role.

7.  I’m guessing Locke wants the passenger list so he can make sure all six were on the plane.  Remind you of another list?  Ben wanted the manifest from flight 815 probably for a very similar reason and maybe one of them was to see if Christian was there as well.

8. I love how Locke just enjoys life.  He eats that mango like it’s his first after being resurrected from the dead.  Oh wait…

9.   There is a lot of truth telling this week.  But then again, maybe not.  Do we really know that Widmore is the good guy?  Creepy eyed man wasn’t telling the truth – from what we saw when he first lied about Helen.  Ben loves, hates, loves, kills Locke.

10. Did we really need to see Locke puke? YUCK!

11.  So Widmore is watching the “exit” from the island.  His story sounds about what we thought.  He was exiled by Ben and now he wants to go back.  But I’m not so sure I believe that Widmore was the leader.  However, Ben just takes what he wants so I guess it’s possible that in his jealousy he found a way to get Widmore off the island.  It’s also possible that they are *both*hot heads and they *both* wanted and still want to be the leader and each is willing to do anything to get back and be the self-appointed leader.

12.  Somehow Locke does fit into all this and I don’t know that there is enough information at this point to know why he’s so important and why both Widmore and Ben want Locke back.

13.   You know, they could have treated Locke a little more gently when the plucked him from the desert.  The only thing I can figure is that they didn’t know if he was a good guy or a bad guy when they first found him.  Also, I was thinking of the parallel imagery between being born and what Locke went through.  He “wakes up” like just being born, and all these strangers grab him and man handle him and shove stuff in his mouth and hurt him.  Maybe like what a baby feels right after being born?

14.   So what’s this war all about that’s coming?  I don’t think they are talking about some type of atomic bomb or could they?  If it was an actual world war I could see why they’d want to be on a time shifting island.  I want to go there too!

15.   Widmore says that the island needs Locke and it has for a long time.  Can’t wait to see what that’s all about.

16.   When Widmore and Locke were chatting right before Locke took off for the airport, it looked remarkably like Eko’s village.  The dirt and the kids kicking a ball around.  Maybe a recycled set?

17.   I also liked that Widmore answered every single one of Locke’s questions without hesitation.  Now, maybe he’s a professional liar and is just less jumpy and allusive than Ben, who knows.  But it was nice that people were asking and people were answering!

18.   Interesting that Sayid chose to do charity work.  Seems a bit like he was running away from the law while trying to make some type of penance for all the bad that he did back home.

19.   So why did the obituary say Locke was survived by a teenage son?  Did I miss something?  And I was certainly expecting more when Locke met Walt.  I thought it would be a far more touching scene.  Instead Walt is just having dreams about Locke back on the island in a suit and a lot of people trying to kill him.  I’m hoping we’ll see more Walt as there has to be some explanation of why he’s so special.

20.   Abbadon helps people get to where they need to go.  So he’s the grim reaper, right?

21.   Helen died of a brain aneurysm 4/8/06.  Really? Just because we see a tombstone doesn’t mean someone is dead (Jin).  The writers once said that once someone dies, they are dead but I guess that’s not true since Christian and Locke are up and walking around.  I still found it very sad for Locke.  The one person in his life that he really loved.

22.   Locke’s one visit to Jack was enough to convince him to go back?  Now we see why he was on that plane ride a few seasons ago, just wishing the plane would crash.  I think that Jack already had a very heavy sense of guilt for leaving the other Losties back on the island and Locke’s visit just pushed him over the edge.

23. That is one crappy hotel that Widmore puts Locke in.

24.   I want to confess that I cried when Locke was trying to kill himself.  His anguish was palpable!  And I don’t think he was going to kill himself to save the island, he was doing it because he genuinely believed that he was a failure.  Heartbreaking scene for me.

25.  I believe that Ben truly did not want Locke to kill himself.  That is, until he heard that Jin was alive and then to know that Locke has to see Mrs Hawking, that put him over the edge.  But… killing Locke with his bare hands!!!  I know that Ben is not above killing people (remember the killing his own father while looking him in the face?).  But come on!   Outside of when Charlie died, this was my second least favorite scene of this show.  And I don’t mean in an angry way, but that “I’m so emotionally invested in these characters I couldn’t bear to watch” kind of way.

26.   “I’ll miss you John, I really will.”  Ben is completely convinced killing Locke was what he had to do.  Does he believe that Locke will rise again?

27.  So the previews are setting it up like Kate and Sawyer reuniting is the scene we’ve been waiting for.  Not for me!  The first scene I wanted was the Desmond and Penny meeting, which we got.  The second one that I want to see is when Juliet reunites with her sister.  Sawyer and Kate, yeah, it’s interesting but I have sisters and one in particular that I’m very close to and if I knew she was sick and then I left and couldn’t come back to know how she was doing I’d be devastated!  To me, that is way more moving that two people that only met a few months ago.

28.  Cesar saw the light right before the O6 disappeared huh?  So far, only those *traveling* have seen that light.  Not sure that there is anything to that yet.

29.  And when is Vincent coming back!

5 X 02: The Lie

Could Jacob be Alvar Hanso? I was thinking about the way we saw him the first time from the window, turned sideways. I know this doesn’t really pertain to this episode, but in trying to make links between old and new information this possibility came to mind.
alvarhanso2.jpg alvarhanso.jpg jacobeye.jpg jacob2.jpg Click to enlarge

1. I was also thinking back to some unsolved issues. Like the cages that Sawyer and Kate were in – I know they were for the animals, but what were they doing with the animals and why? And the landing strip that Kate and Sawyer were helping to clear rocks for – another plane coming to the island? Is this where the O6 will land, conveniently, when they come back? Kate’s airplane – did she forget about it? She robbed a bank to recover so why wouldn’t she be obsessing if she hadn’t taken it home with her? Will we ever see Libby’s connection to Hurley in the institution? There are so many for them to wrap up!

2. I was also thinking back to when Ben was looking at those dolls that Annie had made for him and Richard comes in. Ben asks something to the effect of “You remember birthdays, don’t you Richard?” Has Richard harnessed the healing power of the island to also maintain his youth? I like sci-fi and I’ll buy into the time travel, but never aging is going to be a hard sell to me.

3. I have more thoughts but I think I’ll save them for the next post after the recap.

4. So the O6 has been off of the island for 3 years. I can’t imagine that the Losties are going to have to suffer for three years with time moving. Remember that Walt had amazing growth and the writers promised they would explain why. Well, if Walt was off the island for years he would have grown quite a bit. But, if that same time frame was island time it would have only seemed like days. So time off the island is moving much faster than on the island. The O6 come back after 3 years but the Losties only think they’ve been gone a few days to a week.

5. Hurley tells Sayid that someday he’ll need his help but he won’t get it. But Hurley goes through great lengths to help him back home. Change of heart or foreshadowing?
hurley1.jpg   Click to enlarge
6. Ana Lucia tells Hurley not to get arrested. Hurley purposely gets arrested to avoid Ben. I guess we’ll see what kind of ramifications that decision has.
analucia.jpg   Click to enlarge
7. Must pay homage to the shirt.
shirt.jpg   Click to enlarge
8. Sun is up to something. It’s too convenient that she was in such a hurry to make her plane and then right after Kate goes on the run, Sun shows up! Does she blame Kate somehow for Jin’s death? Is she really trying to help Kate or is she setting her up for some future purpose?

9. Ben’s secret box. Reminds me of when Miles visited the lady whose spirit he talked to, he took something out of the air vent also (but I think his was money). Why was it in the vent – someone must have placed it there before Ben showed up.
benbox.jpg   Click to enlarge
10. Ben tells Jack that he’s never coming back once they return to the island. Is Jack really OK with this? I guess outside of his mother we haven’t seen that he has anything left to live for at home but wouldn’t Jack be looking for ways that he could bring them all back home? Jack seems too heroic to just accept that they will all live happily ever after on the island, which makes me think he’s got his own plan. After all, we don’t know what he planned with Juliet before they left.

11. I’m not convinced that anyone is really out to kill Hurley and Sayid. I think they were hired by Ben to scare them and send them right into his trap for the O6 to get them to agree to go back to the island.

12. Jill tells Ben that Gabriel and Jeffrey have already checked in. The flight crew perhaps? Ben then goes on to defend Jack and his drug abuse. Wow, a little empathy from Ben. Not sure outside of his daughter we’ve seen Ben express true feelings (of kindness, at least).

13. Vincent! The one character the writers have promised will live to the end. But with Vincent, there always comes trouble and sure enough, flaming arrows coming their way.
vincent.jpg   Click to enlarge
14. That was some crazy arrow shooting at the Losites. The Others were violent but not like this. Had to be the hostiles and my guess would be it was from the distant past. I wonder if the dead Losties bodies will time travel or since they died in that time then they will stay there?

15. “Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?” Hurley has the best family!
hurleymom.jpg   Click to enlarge
16. Sun really is not the person we thought she was. I think back to The Glass Ballerina and that Sun blamed the maid for breaking the figurine knowing that she would lose her job. I don’t know if she really expects Kate to kill the attorneys, but she wants her to “take care of them.”

17. Watching the scene again where Hurley tells him mom the whole truth about the plane and the survivors makes me question how more of the actors on this show don’t get Emmy or other award nominations. I’ve watched a lot of the other shows that get nominated and most of them don’t sustain the believability or momentum that Lost has. I watch Jorge and Jeremy Davies and they are so great in this show. Yes, a few of the actors have been nominated (and won, yeah!) but not enough in my opinion.

18. NOW we see hostiles! Wow, cutting off her hand “just because.” And dang it Sawyer, take their shoes!!!
hostiles.jpg   Click to enlarge
19. Loving the hot pocket thrown at Ben. That thing was hot too, that could have hurt!
hotpocket.jpg   Click to enlarge
20. The cloak and dagger outfit was a little silly here. But the dichotomy between the science and faith was interesting (science in the basement, faith upstairs). Mrs Hawkins comes across as a leader in the way she speaks to Ben and he reacts.

5 X 01: Because You Left

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Here is part one of a VERY loooong blog post. My Lost brain is in high gear and with two episodes to recap I think I need to break it down. I’m pretty excited about this season and thankful that things are starting to come together. Our obsessive breaking down of the episodes is paying off now in double time. If you can make it to the end of this post, please leave your thoughts and comments and come back tomorrow (or later tonight if I really get to obsessing) for my recap of “The Lie.”

1. Maybe the reason the O6 must ALL go back is because of course correction. If Des hadn’t been late in pushing the button that fateful day then the plane would have went on it’s way to LA and landed safely. This is how fate meant it to be so all 6 must be there to fly back and land safely in order for the course of events in time to put upright again. Therefore, FRANK will also have to be the PILOT because he was originally supposed to be flying the plane (as he told us).

2. However, if the Losties need to leave safely as the original group then that would mean that Dan, Miles, Charlotte and JULIET would not be able to leave with them. I could see Dan and the gang staying to re-start DI but Juliet… if Sawyer grows to care for her (which seems inevitable at this point) and then he has to leave her behind? Ugh, I don’t know how that will play out for him. Seems like it would be a heart-wrenching choice but not really a choice as they all must be saved which means Sawyer could not chose to stay behind with her.

3. Could the baby in the beginning be Miles? He was chosen by Widmore to come back with the “rescue” operation and probably not just because he sees/hears dead people. Seems like when Naomi was questioning Mr Creepy Eyes about why the would chose such a rag-tag group to go with her to the island, there would have to be a plausible reason why. Also, women who have babies die on the island before giving birth. Wouldn’t this make the baby “extra” special if it was born there?
baby.jpgClick to enlarge

4. There have been many references throughout the seasons about an “incident” on the island. We know that the energy behind the wall being drilled in the Orchid Station, well, according the Candle if it were released, “God help us all.” I think Dan may have caused the “incident” and that is what fried his brain. We know he was there and we know that his memory is mush so it seems possible that he was the creator of the “incident.”

5. I wasn’t sure Dan was hiding his face from Candle (aka Pierre Chang) but I want back and watched the video shown at Comic Con and now I think he was. Dan for sure is the one video taping here (you can hear his voice) and you can hear th baby in the back ground. It makes much more sense now as Dan must have told Candle what was going to happen to DI and the way to save them. But…. he also says something to the effect of changing the past, but he as much as called the construction supervisor an idiot for suggesting that you could change the future. So was the video perhaps made for Locke or for Desmond to see since they seem to be the two that might be able to alter the future?
danhide2.jpg Click to enlarge

6. If Dan was “traveling” to the island then it would make the scene with Dan and the supervisor amusing as he says, “Did you hear that? Time travel, how stupid does he think we are?” Dan just has this look on his face and nods… Context makes all the difference, doesn’t it?
dantimetravel.jpg Click to enlarge

7. Ben tells Locke that he is sorry for making his life so miserable. At first glance we think it’s a reference to island life. But what is Ben is really referring to Locke’s “whole” life? We know Richard has been around 3 or 4 times in John’s life prior to the island so it’s definitely possible that it was their version of the Truman Show, orchestrating events and making sure Locke was on the right path.

8. Another possibility of what the “incident” was… the wheel somehow gets exposed. Dan knows it’s buried in the wall in the past when they are digging. Maybe Dan is the one who blows out the wall and exposes the wheel since he knows it has to do with time travel and he is obsessed with time travel. Candle says it would release something horrific if they kept drilling in the wall. The contractor knows where to place the detonators and doesn’t believe in time travel so I’m sure it would be easy for Dan to talk him into blowing up the wall.
wheelinwall.jpg Click to enlarge

9. Did the island somehow get moved ahead just a few minutes in time and that is why it can’t be found? Does the electromagnetic events (like Desmond’s turning the key) somehow correct the island in time and that is why it could be found and seen?

10. In the first scene with Locke after the donkey wheel is turned, why does just Locke move in time? He is standing there talking to Richard and The Others, why didn’t they move? All of the Losties on the island moved together (Sawyer and the gang) why not Richard’s group?
lockealone.jpg Click to enlarge

11. Do attorney’s and their associates really go to people’s houses to collect blood? Seems first of all like a qualified skill, something a phlebotomist would do. But I agree with Sun, the attorney wouldn’t show up to the house in private, they would have her somewhere public to do the test. I also think Ben could have easily have put these attorney’s up to scaring Kate so she will do what she knows best, run. Where better to run to and take Aaron so no one would find her then the island? After all, outside of Aaron, what does she really have back home?

12. Kate still keeps a picture of Jack and Aaron on the table? How many of you out there that are broken up with your child’s parent keep a picture of them on your front table? I can see keeping it in your kid’s room and keeping albums of pictures, but out by the front door? Someone is obviously still carrying a torch for him.
jackaaron.jpg Click to enlarge

13. Thinking back a few seasons, remember that Eko and Jin and walking through the jungle and come across some of the Others and they are traipsing through the woods with no shoes on? Now we see Sawyer with no shoes on? First of all… OUCH! Second, instead of looking for a shirt, why wouldn’t he be more interested in shoes? I’m not complaining… :)
feet.jpg Click to enlarge

14. I like the way Sawyer is playing surrogate for the viewers and asking the questions about time travel. I agree with Dan that I doubt someone like me could fully grasp it, but the explanations we have are somewhat understandable.

15. Dan says the island is dislodged from time and skips like a record player. This reminds me of Danielle’s message that had been also playing the same message over and over for 16 years.

16. Ethan comes across this guy in the jungle who says Ben appointed him to be their leader, then the guy disappears right in front of his eyes. Ethan goes back and tells the Others. X-years later here comes the plane and who is on it, John Locke! Yes, I’m sure that when Danielle caught Ben in her net he WAS coming the meet John! And how many times is this guy going to fall on his back!
ethan.jpg Click to enlarge
17. Speaking of disappearing people, could time travel have something to do with the “dead” people we’ve seen on the island? When Christian appears to Jack, could it have been the Others somehow projecting him to the future (would explain how he just disappears)? There was also Dave, the black horse, Walt (although he’s not dead), Locke’s mom, Boone, Ana Lucia, and Yemmi.

18. This also brings me to the idea that time travel might have something to do with the Whispers. I haven’t been able to hammer out a complete theory on this yet as the Whispers are actually talking about the people so if they were phantoms of real people slipping by in time I’m not sure why we wouldn’t also see them.

19. Another thought, remember the guy Lenny who was in the institution with Hurley who kept repeating the magic numbers? I’m thinking this guy was also a worker on the island who was around during the “incident” and it also fried his brains.

20. Three years later and Sun is still wearing her wedding ring. Guess a few months on the island changed her mind about marriage.
sun.jpg Click to enlarge

21. This is weird, it looks like the word “chicken” was photoshopped and put the right way in the puddle. It’s a reflection so shouldn’t it be backwards or distorted? I don’t think it means anything besides the writers or editors being silly. Also, Hurley is on the run and wanted for murder but they still take the time to pick up chicken. Priceless. Then Hurley’s line to Sayid, “You know maybe if you ate more comfort food, you wouldn’t have to go around shooting people.”
chickenshack.jpg Click to enlarge

22. Every time I saw Sayid and Hurley together I kept hearing the theme from the Odd Couple. Neil Simon couldn’t have come up with a more mis-matched duo then these two!
hurleysayid.jpg hurley.jpgClick to enlarge

23. Locke is the only one that can stop the time from moving or so we would believe. When Sawyer asks who can stop it the next flash is to Locke.  But Dan goes on to tell Desmond he is the only one that can save them.  I assume his mother will tell him how.
24. How does Richard find Locke? Unless there is some predictable way that time moves and Richard understands this. Then he would have calculated based off of when Ethan came back to the camp and spoke of shooting the mysterious Locke. Kind of like when Desmond told Penny to be home on Christmas Eve 2004 because he was going to call her.
richard.jpg Click to enlarge

25. Now the issue of the compass and Locke dying. The compass may not be the “same” compass that Richard showed Locke when he was a kid, but it has to have significance to that scene. Here is a link to a clip of the scene. I hate to bring up the time loop theories (go back to season one, there are lots of them out there, including by me), but it could somehow come to play here. Time loops back around so Locke can correct it? But why would Richard say the knife wasn’t his “yet?” This is still a mystery to be unlocked (no pun intended).

26. Does Locke really die? Ben never answers. Right after Jack asks Ben it flips to Hurley’s dad watching Expose, the show Barbie was on. Ken and Barbie were bit by spiders and *looked* like they were dead but they were only paralyzed. With no traceable heart beat they thought they were dead. Maybe Locke has to look like he’s dead because the island won’t let him back if he’s alive. The writers have said that Ken and Barbie were more than just an annoyance and somehow an integral part of the story, could this be it!
lockecoffin2.jpg Click to enlarge

27. I don’t think that Dan means that Sawyer literally can’t meet Desmond. I think he’s telling him he can’t change the past, or shouldn’t change the past. Des obviously hears him because he comes out and asks why he’s making all that noise on the door (to Dan). Plus, if Des is freaked out by Sawyer then he wouldn’t be listening to Dan when he tells him about going to Oxford.
desmondhatch.jpg   Click to enlarge
28. Dan tells Desmond he is uniquely special. Then Desmond wakes up and suddenly he remembers the talk with Dan. I don’t think that Dan changed the past necessarily but since Desmond is special somehow Dan created a new memory at that moment. Also, Desmond’s seeing the future is nothing more than like when Dan changes the past by talking to him at the hatch, he suddenly “remembers” the event. Maybe the events are taking place in the future and Des being special all of a sudden “sees” the future while in some “time” it’s actually happening. Des is there to course correct and make sure current events lead up to the future that he is “seeing.”
desmondboat.jpg   Click to enlarge
29. Speaking of course correction, Des stopped Charlie from being KILLED several times but he allowed him to live long enough to push the button and consequently several of the Losties left the island. Mrs Hawkins is the one who introduced the concept of course correction so it makes sense that they all have to go back because of course correction. Whatever is going to happen, they all have to be there. Charlie should have died one of those times and therefore the six would have never left. Now that has to be corrected.

30. And for the record, I think Mrs Hawkins might be Dan’s mother.

Initial Thoughts: Because You Left & The Lie

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

1. “Love” the irony in the opening scene. Looked eerily similar to the opening with Desmond in the hatch. Then the record player skipping, like now time is skipping.

2. The clock showed 8:14 but alarm didn’t go off until 8:15. I thought it meant they were going to go ahead in time.

3. So, Dan was on the island before the hatch was built or was it some type of time travel that he was there when they were drilling? It would explain how his brains got scrambled (remember when we first met Dan he was crying over the plane crash but didn’t know why). He was probably messing around with the “energy” on the island and cooked his brains. He would no longer be of use to them and that could be why they let him go home and why they wanted him to go back. Also, seems like now we see that Dan has a prior connection to island, we think Charlotte does and my guess is we will find out what …. ’s is too. That is why they chose those three to go on the mission back to the island on the freighter.

4. I’m wondering why they were drilling underground to begin with. Maybe to somehow get closer to the energy? Also, I wonder if they somehow “unleashed” the smoke monster when they were drilling around the island.

5. It was raining on Locke when he first “wakes up” after the time shift. Rain has always signaled weird things on the island.

6. Lots of Rose and Bernard this time around. Lots of shirtless Sawyer too. I found it funny that Sawyer is on a mission to get a shirt. Kind of a “shout out” to the viewers like me.

7. Kate should be good at running from the lawyers, it’s what she does best. I need to think on who would hire attorney’s to question her paternity. My first thoughts are that Ben has hired people to come after the six in order to “persuade” them or give them reason to join together and to want to go back to the island. Sun will be the hardest. Maybe show her that Jin is alive and that will stop her from wanting to kill Ben and want to get back to the island.

8. I think that Locke may be the “him” that Desmond referred to when we first met him. If you recall, he asked Jack fi “he” sent him. Since Locke is floating through time maybe he somehow meets up with Desmond and tells him that someone will come to relieve him. Remember the snowman joke?

9. Dan tells Desmond that he’s “extra” special. Why? Or is he just extra special because he’s Dan’s constant? I know Desmond can see the future but maybe there’s more that we’re about to see. Maybe it’s Desmond that is going to stop the time from slipping all around, but must be through Dan’s mother. Why else would Desmond need to go see her?

10. I was thinking back to Desmond’s flash where he saw Claire and the baby getting on a helicopter and getting off of the island. Since we have been told many times that you can’t change events, then this must be the end when they all get saved. Desmond told Charlie that through his sacrifice they would all be saved.

11. Do they all need constants now? Why can’t they be each other’s constants?

12. Sayid can kick some serious butt.

13. So how did Richard find Locke after he was shot by Ethan? How could he possibly know on the island where Locke would be or that he was shot. It’s possible that Richard heard Ethan come back and tell the story, but then how would Richard be able to calculate “when” to find Locke? I’m sure we’ll get the answer but it’s still interesting to ponder how he does it. And didn’t Richard offer Locke the compass when he was little boy and he didn’t take it?

14. Although Hurley said he wouldn’t help Sayid, he’s too sweet not to help him when he needed it.

15. It was kind of sad that Ana Lucia told Hurley that Libby said hi.

16. It was also a funny moment when Hurley puts the glasses on Sayid.

17. Anyone get a look at what Ben took out of the heating vent at the hotel and hid in his bag?

18. NO! Hurley’s dad was watching Expose… the show Barbie was on. Ugh.

19. I think it’s safe to guess that the slipping around in time is what drove Danielle’s people crazy and will start to affect those on the island. Frogurt was showing signs.

20. I love Hurley’s family. They get the best scenes.

21. Did you notice Sun in the red shirt when she is talking to Kate? I don’t think it means her death, but the death of others.

22. Hurley had the best line, to his mom, “… and pushing the button every 108 minutes or… I was never really clear on that.”

23. Yes! It was great to see Locke. He’s going to start bang-a-rangin’ this time travel I think. He’s a go with the flow guy.

24. So 70 hours to round them up and get back. I guess they will be going back this season. yeah!

25. The lady Ben talks to in the last scene is the woman who sold Des the ring for Penny and told him he had to go back to the island.

26. Vincent is back!

Will get this one screen capped. More to come!

Ding, Dong The Wicked Witch…

Friday, September 5th, 2008

I wasn’t going to comment on this… but I found an angle that I like! So the chatter out there is that Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) is going to *appear* in episode 2 next season. I decided that this could actually be a good thing because it gives us yet another chance to have her killed off the show. Once just wasn’t enough! I know there are some of you out there who are fans but I personally couldn’t stand her character.  Why can’t they get Eko to come back?
Cheech Marin (aka: Hurley’s dad) is also set to appear in the episode so it’s looking like a Hurley flashie (I would assume flash back but Hurley sees dead people now so it could be a flash forward too).

This Is Sad

I was snooping around the internet and came across this photo from the 2006 Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Looks like the island has about a 70% death rate.  One note, out of the nine that are *dead* four had drunk driving charges at some point while on the show.   Don’t drink and drive kids!
