This Is Sad

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I was snooping around the internet and came across this photo from the 2006 Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Looks like the island has about a 70% death rate.  One note, out of the nine that are *dead* four had drunk driving charges at some point while on the show.   Don’t drink and drive kids!

Initial Thoughts: Meet Kevin Johnson

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I’m still disappointed with the whole Michael returns story line. I *almost* had sympathy for Michael tonight, however. He keeps making really bad choices and getting himself into some very bad situations. Not sure I thought it was a tremendous cliffhanger either.

1. What I want to know is when Michael and Walt found rescue how did they explain who they were and how they got that boat? They obviously didn’t admit to being part of the Oceanic survivors.

2. I would guess that it’s Michael in the coffin, but it almost seems too obvious. On the other hand, it would explain why no one came to the funeral - he was using a fake name. Again, how does Michael get back to the mainland if he doesn’t die on the freighter? Jack would have to know Michael’s pseudonym in order to know it was his obituary which means Michael meets back up with the survivors.

3. So the sanctuary is the last safe place on the island? I’m thinking it must be a bunker similar to the original button pushing bunker. Remember those thick doors that Michael was checking out?

4. Are we supposed to believe that the people on the boat are the one’s who are coming that Ben is so afraid of? I’m thinking we may see the “Other” Others that have been on the island. They could be the remaining Dharma’s that weren’t killed by Ben. Besides the fact that the men on the boat have machine guns, they don’t seem to be in very good shape (think Minkowski) and the boat is trying to get AWAY from the island but Michael sabotages the engines so they can’t get away. I’m just not convinced that the freighties are the ones coming to kill them all.

5. Michael’s eye opening in the hospital. Interesting it wasn’t at the beginning of the episode this time.

6. Did you catch that nurse Libby was bringing Michael blankets? Just like when she walked into the hatch when Michael shot her. So why is Libby haunting Michael? We’ve seen a lot of hauntings in this show. Charlie, Christian, Ana Lucia, Eko’s brother, Boone, and Dave who technically wasn’t ever alive.

7. So the time frame is that Michael has been gone two months according to his mother. Mr Friendly didn’t have too much more time to live after this episode if my memory is correct.

8. Could they have at least used the original actor for Walt? Seemed too cheesy.

9. Someone needs to read Korean! what was on the back of that watch? I haven’t thought about that watch for awhile. Good thing Jin didn’t make it back without it.

10. The island won’t let Michael die? Is that why Mikael kept living through those crazy accidents that should have killed him? This idea is very strange. If everything on this show has some explanation, how do you explain this outside of pure coincidence? Reminds me of an XFiles episode. I forget how that guy finally died.

11. Michael sure seemed to heal fast after trying to kill himself. He was out running around in no time. Did the island somehow give him the ability? Not like a Heroes power, more like some magnetic *hangover* if you will that allows your cells to heal faster. Or at least for awhile.

12. Mr Friendly tells Michael that he has work to do. Boone told Locke the same thing in his airport magic carpet ride dream and Walt also tells Locke this when he’s laying there dying after Ben shoots him.

13. It wasn’t a secret that Mr Friendly was gay. Remember that when Kate is first in the Others locker room after being kidnapped, he tells her not to worry because she’s not his type. He indulges when he’s not on the island.

14. I still don’t believe that Widmore staged the crash. Mr Friendly knows so very many details about how it was done, seems like maybe he knows just a little *too* much about it. I did appreciate that the reason the bodies weren’t pulled out of the wreckage and identified.

15. No one in Thailand noticed all those bodies missing?

16. Miles could have been talking to the ghost Libby that is following Michael around and that is how he knew it wasn’t really his name.

17. Maybe Michael sees that the effects of the island are killing the freighter crew and that is why he doesn’t want the ship to move away.

18. Is Frank really a good judge of character? He confides that the survivors of 815 might still be out there. Or since he has the manifest memorized does he perhaps know this is Michael somehow?

19. Michael killed Ana Lucia on his own. Wow, makes him seem even worse.

20. Ben wants a list of people on the boat. Makes me wonder if he is the one who orders the list of survivors on the plane. Makes me even think that there could have even been a mole on the plane who had the list before they crashed. Who is good on that boat that they want to save and why would Ben care?

21. Looks like Sayid must like Desmond’s hair this week because he has the same ‘do’ in the future. Yucky.

22. Ben is totally communicating with the Others - how else would they know Alex was coming? Ben is really a very selfish person - wanting Alex all to himself and he’s willing to kill to make that happen. However, it would be a cool twist if this explains where Frank and the other freighter guy went on their *errand.* They went to capture Alex because she is a great bargaining chip to get to Ben.

23.  They can’t kill Danielle!  We haven’t seen enough of her story yet!

24. April 24th. Doesn’t sound like too bad of a wait.

25. I could hear the monster outside of one of the houses in the previews. Looks like old Smokey must find a way around the security perimeter.

26.  Instead of whispers, Michael hears a song right before Libby shows up to tell him not to push the button (remember Walt’s “Push the button, don’t push the button.  The button’s bad?”).  And the Execute button was just like the one in the hatch.

27.  I thought for sure Michael would ask Sayid how Vincent was doing.

Trouble again

Tsk. Tsk.  Why couldn’t it have been a crazed white tiger?

Lost star blasted by animal rights group
Source:www.stuff.co.nz
Lost star Michelle Rodriguez has been criticised by animal rights activists for taking a baby tiger cub to a nightclub.

The actress played with Skanda, a nine-week-old white tiger, for a charity event she was hosting in aid of a nature sanctuary.

PETA have now slammed the star for using the endangered animal for entertainment purposes.

A spokesman for the animal rights organisation, Dan Mathews, said: “These are wild animals, not party animals.

“We know Michelle Rodriguez is an animal lover, but I think she is unaware how infant animals need to be around their mother and not a clanging party scene.

“They’re not meant to be an ornament at a party, even one that is designed to raise money for animals. It kind of defeats the purpose.”

Rodriguez fed the baby tiger a bottle full of milk and went swimming with it in a pool.

The tiger was said to have looked distressed as it scrambled around the venue.

Club owner Satsky, who paid $US10,000 to hire the tiger, said: “The music was bothering him a little bit. But his trainer was constantly feeding him milk, so that kind of calms him down.”

Are the Producer’s “PADD?” (Producers Against Drunk Driving)

Sunday, May 7th, 2006

All right, so there seems to be loads of chatter regarding “did they” or “didn’t they” kill off the two stars that *ironically* were arrested for drunk driving?

The answer is no.

Watros’ [Libby] impending departure was first hinted at last month, after it was announced that the actress had signed on opposite Tom Cavanagh for the CBS sitcom pilot My Ex-Life. She was initially described as “guest star,” but sources indicated that was a ruse to keep from spoiling the Lost storyline.

Rodriguez also tried to put to rest the rumors that the show’s writers were engaging in a little moral grandstanding by deep-sixing her, saying her contract was always meant to be for a year, no more.

“No, no, no, not at all,” she said, when asked if her offscreen troubles led to her onscreen demise. “I knew when I signed on.”

Two of the show’s executive producers, Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, seconded Rodriguez’s remarks in an interview with TVGuide.com.

“A lot of this is going to sound like spin, so all we can give you is our word that this is exactly what happened,” Lindelof said, reiterating that Ana-Lucia’s death had been plotted from the start.

So we know Ana is dead. She has been making the talk show rounds talking about it and “sticking to the story” that she knew from the start, but what about Libby?

I’m thinking that she is going to hang on long enough to tell the tale. She is still listed in this week’s epi in the cast so she must be going to make some sort of appearance.

Also, in the commercial we hear that “she is dead” not that “THEY are dead.” But if Libby has a part on an upcoming new series, I would say it’s a safe bet that she is a goner.

(My) Scott also made a good point.  We see someone holding a Virgin Mary statue in the preview.  Locke said he was keeping them for “medicinal purposes.”  Killing pain perhaps of *someone* who was shot?

That leaves very few tailies. Coincidence?

Two for the Road (2)

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

First thoughts:

1. Hm. Click here for the I told ya so dancing smiley face.gif(she says with arms crossed in defiance). I was scorned by fans last season for saying Boone was going to bite it and he did. Now Ana.

2. Did Libby die? We can see two graves in pix for upcoming episodes but she was holding something out in front of her when Mikey shot her that could potentially have saved her. Listen, I read today in a magazine about how an underwire in a bra stopped a bullet so stop your scoffing… BUT IF SHE LIVES this is going to be so freaking cool because she can rat out Michael. If she dies, Hurley and Sayid will have a new connection.

3. Michael, Michael, Michael. I said, that he was going to sell out his friends for his son. But again, I would send you all down the river for my daughter. However…. the killing part might stop me.
lost_michael.jpg Click to enlarge

4. Henry was expecting Michael. How did he know? I don’t think that he knew who was coming as much as he knew someone would be coming. So the tradeoff is Ana has to die in retaliation for killing Goodwin. Then, Fenry (aka Fake Henry) gets freed in a “supposed” trade for Walt. So what is next in Mikey’s plan? Hey Mikey, he likes it!
lost_henry.jpg Click to enlarge
5. Thought it interesting that they have Christian (Jack’s dad) and Ana meeting in a bar just like Ana met Jack — at the airport bar.
lost_jacks_dad.jpg Click to enlarge

6. So Christian has a daughter in Australia. How did that happen?

7. The name Christian picks for Ana is SARAH??? So was he the person that Jack’s wife SARAH had made dinner for the night that she dumps him. I would say that we are going to be seeing more of this in the future.

8. I hope that the writers/producers know how much they make this show seem like purgatory. I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT, however, think about the implications. Every time someone finds their peace, they die. So if this was purgatory and you found your peace you pass on to heaven. I’m just saying.

9. First Michael tells Jack and friends that the Others are weak and only number 22 with two guards and two guns (Two for the road???). But then he goes on to tell Ana that they are “animals” and he has seen what they can do. Somewhere in the truth Michael either sat down and worked out this compromise (complete with killing) or they kidnapped him, only to torture him to the point of this horrible deal. No matter, he is leading the survivors to a slaughter for sure.

10. Eko falls off a cliff next week? Will anyone believe Locke since he has lied about cliffs (remember Boone’s accident?).

11. Fenry’s quote was great. To Locke, ” If you’ve come to apologize I forgive you for hitting me with your crutch. I’m so glad my head didn’t break it.” Now how many shows would you find that kind of dialog, huh?
lost_henry_locke.jpg

12. Ana told Fenry the funny thing about killers is tha tthey love to talk, yet he said nothing while she yammered on….

13. Did you see Sawyer hit the car with his hands that Christian and Ana were talking in? It was right before Christian goes into the bar and Ana decides to leave him.

14. Hurley mentions the hosptial and then again remembering why Libby looks familiar. The camera went to Libby like they knew that we were going to be wanting a reaction. But I didn’t see a reaction.

Reckoning.

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

After watching with the thought in mind that THEY want us to see these *specific* clips, here is my list I call

(insert creepy echo) “Thoughts and Questions”

1. Arrow on the hatch door where the Tailies were staying. What does it mean? We know the medical hatch had a caduceus so what is this?

2. *Orientation* video indicated that they were to stay in the hatch for 540 days. Desmond says he has been there 3 years. What happened?

3. L-O-V-E-D the Locke quote after watching the film. “We’re gonna need to watch that again!” Yes we are!

4. Ana recounts the number of tailies that were taken by the Others. What happened to them? Why chose them and not any other survivors? Why take so many tailies and so few of the mid-section-ers?

5. I still think that Kate poisoned someone in her past. I saw her getting Sawyer to drink and it reminded me of my theory. We have seen alot of clues leading us to this (poison to Michael (meant for Jin), drugging Jack to get him to sleep, etc…).

6. LOVE the scene where Eko comes out of the woods with Sawyer over his back. “Where’s the doctor?” Classic TV.

7. OK so the guys from the raft come out of the woods and did you see how happy everyone was to see them? Wouldn’t you be like, holy crap, there goes our chance to get saved? I would.

8. Hurley told LIbby she looked familiar. Did he forget?

9. Eko’s stick with the bible references, what was up with that?

10. Mike on the computer. OK, so you’re stranded on an island and your kid has been taken by seabillies. The computer that is used solely for “saving the world” suddenly lights up with an instant chat and you don’t say anything to anyone?

11. Sawyer has really gotten beat up on this island. He gets stabbed by Sayid, punched by Hurley and shot TWICE by The Others. When will he get his revenge or when will we see the tough guy? He told Zeke that it wasn’t over… can’t WAIT for that confrontation!

12. When Sun asks Kate if she ever took a pregnancy test she answers yes. Tom? The Marshall?

13. What is all being built at this point? We are told that Eko is building a church but what was Charlie and Sayid building? And when did Charlie become Mr. Fixer Upper?

14. Henry is so freaking good at manipulation. I bet the actor playing him is just loving this part and I love watching him. Good job bad guy!

15. OK, I SWEAR that tonight I heard the word “Lockdown” come out of the speakers during the scene when the weird sounds are coming out before the doors go down. Me thinks the producers cleaned this up a bit for us.

16. The map. I think that in 20 years when there is a recap of the greatest TV moments, the scene where the map on the door lights up will be in that countdown. I can’t wait to look back and remember the moment and to also have all the knowledge of what the show is really about. In the meantime I’m enjoying the ride!

Another one bites the dust, my prediction

Monday, February 27th, 2006

Last season, there were widespread rumors that Ian Somerhalder (Boone) had been complaining on the set of Lost. It was said that he had taken issue with the fact that he wasn’t getting enough screen time! Imagine! You’re on the #1 show on TV and complaining about your part! I predicted then, amongst much flack from my co-workers, that he was going to go. The writers were not making a secret that “someone” was going to go and why not chose the squeakiest wheel.

“There will definitely be death before the end of the year, and it won’t be a dream,” JJ Abrams says of Lost. “And it’s not going to be a new character that comes on and all of a sudden dies in that episode. We’re aware it’s not realistic to have all 14 make it, and this is a very hard thing to do for us, because when you know you’re going to do a story where someone’s gonna have to bite it, you don’t want to like any of the actors–because you don’t want to have to say goodbye to any of them. And this cast, they’re just like family. They’re amazing. They’re all wonderful.”

So, JJ says last season that they don’t want to *kill* any of the characters, or fire one of the actors, because they like them. Let’s consider this when we look into the crystal ball for season two. Hm *rubs hands over smoking ball* it’s becoming clear.

I see images of a girl on-set complaining about not just her lines, not just her screen time, but is just overall grouchy and unapproachable. She’s a newer character on the show and the fans don’t like her story anyway. I see an actress who reportedly tells the cast and crew every night before she leaves what she is going to have for *dinner* by saying, “Good night, everyone. I’m off to bleep some bleep!” (Use your imaginations, pervs, there are children reading this!)

Yes, it’s Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia). The same actress who was arrested not too long ago for a DUI and still has to go back to court for that offense. The same actress that *forgot* to tell the producers that she had a few other traffic offenses prior to joining the cast - and not just for tickets, my friends! She has even, as I have read, taken some time off of the show for recovery (or rehab, as we non-Hollywood types would call it). You haven’t seen her in a few episodes, have you?

lost ana arrest.jpg

Read from The Awful Truth, 1-25-06, “‘Michelle is offending the cast and crew,” blabs my on-set insider. “With the goodbye thing, she also wags her tongue between her split fingers. It’s just, you know, gross’“ The article goes on to say, “‘I’m just gonna say that Michelle is not working out so well for any of them,” blabbed my source. “Why does she have to do that thing with her tongue and talk about her sex life all the time?’”

According to one of the writers for Lost (Matt Raggs), it will be shown before the end of the season why Ana was in Australia in the first place, this could wrap up her back-story enough for the viewers satisfaction (hello, Shannon!!??). I’ve also read that she will be somehow linked to Sayid this season. Wouldn’t it be poetic justice if he *accidentally* is the one that kills her? We don’t know that Sayid didn’t (oopsies) hang on to the gun that Danielle handed him two weeks ago, so he has the means.

“The producers are fed up with the fact that she barely shows up on the set and is always in a bad mood,” Us Weekly quoted an “insider” as saying.

“They said she was getting killed off as soon as they could write it in.”

So, let’s recap:

1. Rodriguez is a nightmare on the set.

2. Her character is not central enough to the story that she can’t be written out.

3. In “The Hunting Party ” Ana-Lucia was shown at the end of the episode petting Vincent, which if you remember the last person who looked after the dog was Shannon who is now deceased. (The dog is baaaaad news).

4. The fans do not like Ana. Most of them, OK? So don’t write angry notes to me that YOU like her.

5. Someone needs to die. OK, maybe no one needs to die, but you know as well as I do it makes good TV.

6. Maybe the Others are mad at her for killing Goodwin. I would think that this doesn’t put her on their “nice” list.

7. She killed the man that killed her baby (remember ole what’s his face?) so wouldn’t it be an eye-for-an-eye if Sayid in turn kills her? Especially if he was to find out that Shannon was preggers.

8. lost red herring1.gif OR maybe since the fans are starting to assume she is the next to go, they are throwing us off and Jack will die. Hm.I say, Sayonara Senorita!

The Long Con

Monday, February 13th, 2006

1. Let’s just get this out of the way. Bernard is a dentist. How convenient. Next Ted McGinley will show up as the crazy jungle neighbor who happens to be Claire’s uncle who is in love with Kate. OK, OK, maybe I’m still smarting from the Charlie fiasco but still, come on!

2. Bad Twin. Hurley is reading this manuscript by the fire. Seems like we have some “red herrings” in this episode and I don’t think that this is an exception. No, they can’t exactly have product placement on the island, but knowing the fans of this show, where else would you go but Amazon.com to look this up?

Bad Twin Cover

3. OK astute readers, remember our friend Josh Holloway telling us at the end of Season One, before the beginning of Season Two, to pay attention to the “twins” on the sea-billy’s boat? Here is where I’m going with this… what if Ethan has a twin? I’m shooting a long shot here so don’t ring the buzzer yet. I watched “All The Best Cowboys…” from Season One again and Ethan reappears to beat the crap out of Jack. He appears to be much stronger than the Ethan we see back at the camp. The “second Ethan” appears to be way more muscular than the ‘original’ Ethan. Plus, remember the screen shot where Charlie is burying Ethan? It appeared that he was breathing. No, this doesn’t seem logical so it could be that we were being set up to believe that the reappearance of “Ethan” is a resurrection, when in fact it is just his twin. So why bring this up now? I don’t know outside of the manuscript making me remember Josh’s comments…

Ethan Not Mean

Ethan mean

4. “You run. I con. Tiger don’t change their stripes.” But do they? So Sawyer pulls a “long con” on the survivors. Or did he? Was it really in the best interest of everyone to have the guns in the hands of a raving, magic potion dispensing lunatic (Locke) and a gungho, god complex surgeon (Jack)? Was Sawyer doing them a favor? Jack has been resisting the role of leader from the start anyway and Sawyer seems OK taking it over. Well, at least the role of the sheriff. Every town needs one, right? Someone to uphold the law. Doesn’t it seem more like this than Sawyer holding the guns “hostage” if you will, from the group? Didn’t Locke even refer to something about not wanting everyone to have guns because they would just shoot each other with them?

5. Seems appropriate to bring up the #5 here. Cassidy tells Sawyer that even a 5 year old could tell his necklaces were fakes. More importantly, Sawyer counts to FIVE before going back into the house. Again, astute reader, JACK is the man who told Kate that he counts to FIVE before going into a stressful situation. Kate counts to five on Jack’s advice before ascending into the hatch. Coincidence?

6. Back to Sawyer. He tells Charlie that he hasn’t done a good thing in his life. Oh really? What about the fact that Sawyer backed off of the original con that we saw when he realizes that the people have a kid? What about the fact that he shoots The Marshall out of mercy? Remember how remorseful he seems when he shoots the wrong guy in Australia? What about how he tells Jack about his dad right before he shoves off on the raft? I think that Sawyer may be setting himself up as a martyr from the group to try and infiltrate the “Others” (since it’s not secret they are being watched) and then he can get to Walt. I truly think that Sawyer is still reeling over losing Walt and takes a huge amount of responsibility for his kidnapping and wants to get him back. What better way than to join the Others? If nothing else, Sawyer is comfortable in the role of “the most hated” and wants to get back to what he knows and the control that comes with this.

7. I was wondering if Sawyer sent Cassidy to the same hotel that we see Kate changing plates, etc. in Season One. But, from my research it seems that Cassidy was headed to Sioux City, Iowa to the Sage Flower Motel and Kate was in Cedar Rapids. Anyone know more than this or find a connection? We did see Kate’s mom waiting on Sawyer and Gordon so we know that they were at least close in proximity.

8. Everyone seems to be a con on this island or have been conned. Hurley cons Sayid into fixing the radio (or at least hooking it up). Locke is conning Claire and Charlie (the entire HOW of this is yet to come). Eko has conned the group into believing that he is a priest. Locke is conned by his dad. Claire is conned into keeping the baby and flying to LA. Desmond, or so he says, is conned into the hatch. On and on.

9. Locke says he is alphabetizing the books. Hello? I think he is looking for more film.

10. The music. Sayid picks up ratios station WXR which I now know is the call letters for the Coast Guard radio station in Kodiak, Alaska from 1945. Also, the song was Glen Miller “Moonlight Serenade.” RED HERRING! RED HERRING! Red Herring Come on, like Hurley believes that they are stuck in the time loop (like I insisted they were in from Season One). Nope, won’t believe it. Like the book Locke was holding, “Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.” Check it out. I’m beginning to believe less and less in these obvious clues and just think that we are being mislead, my friends.

11. Combination on the safe was 7-33-18. Usually people pick numbers that mean something to them. Was Locke 7 when his sister died? 33 when dad took his kidney? 18 when Helen first appeared? Hm. Thinking we will see lots more of this in the future.

12. Why was there a girly entertainment mag in the hatch? No, dirty minds, not that kind of dirty mag. The “Elegance” magazine that Kate brought to Sawyer with the lady on the cover who had feathered hair. It definitely had a 70’s flair to it (remember Geronimo Jackson?). Red Herring or clue?

Mag Cover

13. Did Sawyer really lose his glasses on the raft? I have read that there are screen caps (somewhere) showing him wearing his glasses in a future epi. I highly doubt at this point that Jack will make him another pair unless Scott/Steve ends up being an optometrist. Yowza!

14. Sawyer taking the guns has pretty much disbanded Jack’s army, right? I am wondering if Ana LuLu knows where the guns are. She was a cop back in “real life” (man, I’m sick if I’m referring to their character lives as real life). ANYWAY, wouldn’t she have had to have some type of detective training as a cop? She would *have* to know how to investigate so maybe she finds the guns or even followed Sawyer and knows where they are. But for all intents and purposes as it stands, the army is on hold.

15. There is talk that the lady in Desmonds photo is Cassidy.

Desmond Pix2

I think that she is the chick that Jack’s dad killed on the operating table in “All The Good Cowboys …” Check it out:

Dead Lady

Cassidy

16. Vincent. Damn Dog. Shows up every time there is trouble and he aint no Lassie! Where there is Vincent, there are problems. Sun gets kidnapped right after Vincent shows up AND it rains. How does he know? Is Vincent the mole? Plus, if it was Charlie that nabbed her then how did Vincent the calamity sniffing dog know?

Lost Hall Of Shame Part 1

Monday, December 5th, 2005

I wonder if we’ll see more of this? Maybe they had to drink away the agony and wonder of Flash Forwards! HA!

Two ‘Lost’ stars arrested
Rodriguez, Watros charged in separate incidents
Friday, December 2, 2005; Posted: 10:48 a.m. EST (15:48 GMT)
HONOLULU, Hawaii (AP) — Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros, who star on ABC’s “Lost,” were arrested within 15 minutes of each other in Kailua for allegedly driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Both failed field sobriety tests and were released Thursday on $500 bail each, police said. The actresses, who were in separate cars, were arrested after their vehicles were spotted weaving on Pali Highway, which connects Kailua and Honolulu, police said.

Watros, who portrays Libby on “Lost,” was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Rodriguez, who plays Ana Lucia, was arrested at 12:20 a.m., according to police records. Rodriguez was booked under the name Mayte Michelle Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, 27, and Watros, 37, were to appear at a driver’s license revocation hearing at Kaneohe District Court on December 29, police records showed.Motorists arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant automatically have their driver’s licenses revoked. They are given a temporary license that allows them to drive, but under several restrictions.
