You must watch this YouTube video.  This guy is amazing with his “Lost” software how he explains the two parallel time lines exist.  Then there is this “deleted scene” from Season Five where Faraday also explains the split in time.

So, we can see how the island is underwater in the “new” 2004 airplane scene.  How?  In 1977 Juliet detonated the bomb.  The whole thing was gone and sunk the island (no, I don’t know how but come on, Locke turns into smoke so it’s possible here).  Butterfly affect comes into play.  Widmore has no reason to want to get back to the island (it’s underwater and everyone there is dead).  Desmond never sets sail on his around the world trip and lands on the island.  Ben and the Others back on the island never travel back and forth doing who knows what back on land.  Juliet never goes to the island.  Leonard would have never been chanting the numbers in the asylum for Hurley to use (yes, I know Hurley still won the lottery so it goes along with the theory that what must happen will happen).

In Season One people’s paths were crossing and it was fun to spot them but in Season Six their crossing paths now has a whole new significance.

If we believe the time line of Vaughn (the first video I linked) then the the two (or more) time lines will never cross.  But if we listen to Faraday he doesn’t say they will cross either but he does reiterate that whatever happened, happened.  On a side note, he says that he spent the 3 years back home recreating his all of his work back in Ann Arbor (if you recall that is where the DeGroots  founded the Dharma Initiative) so in this alternative time line they have access to all of Faraday’s work.  I can’t imagine what they might do with it in this alternative time line.

And let’s agree that Not-Locke was correct when he called their lives “pathetic” back home.  As we can see from this first episode, they are no better off with the plane not crashing.  Kate was better the original way because she didn’t have to go to prison and could stop running.

1.  Remember right after Faraday talks to Desmond about finding his mother Desmond wakes up with Penny and suddenly “remembers” the conversation?  When we first see Jack on the new plane he looks for a minute like he’s disoriented. I wonder if something similar happened to Jack in that we see him only moments in time after Juliet detonates the bomb.  Hopefully you understand what I meant here.  Not that she changed Jack’s present but it’s happening on two different plains of time simultaneously.

2.  I don’t know if they were serious, but Darlton were recently on Jimmy Kimmel and indicated that the fact that the stewardess only gave Jack one drink instead of two was significant.  But they joke a lot.  Time will be the judge.

3.  Darlton also told Kimmel that Rose being the confident flier while Jack was frightened has significance.  I think it’s cute that Rose tells Bernard she missed him while he was in the bathroom.  Or is there more to this as well.

4.  How is it that Jack doesn’t remember cutting himself?  And I love the scene here of Jack looking at himself in the mirror.  Symbolic of the time lines.

5.  If my theory is right then Jack would have never met Desmond in the stadium because Des would not have been preparing for his big sailing trip.  Ever had dejavu?  Jack is having it right here. Makes me wonder what my dejavu means.  Hm…

6.  Underwater shots.  Here you go!  Dharma security, Dharma houses, the swing set and even the Dharma shark!

7.  One thing has stayed the same, opening the scene with an eye.  But I have a hard time believing Kate could get her hands on false eyelashes.  Maybe she took them out of Claire’s bag.  Remember how Claire always had makeup on?

8.  If Artz is asking Hurley to site lines from his Clucky commercial, then these teasers this summer really meant something; Clucky Commercial, Kate on America’s Most Wanted.

9. I still want to know how the Dharma van traveled with them through time.

10.  Shouldn’t Rose and Bernard be in the current time with Jack and everyone?  And are we going to see Vincent again soon?

11.  Michael Emerson must be as excited at Terry O’Quinn for this season.  Ben is now tied with Not-Locke and way far away from being any kind of leader.  So his role and Not-Locke’s roll are going to reverse.  I can’t wait to see how these two guys embrace these characters.  You can see already the desperation in Ben’s face.  But he always has a plan, right?  Maybe Ben will be the one that saves them all.  That would be ironic.

12.  On a side note, are we going to find out anything about the “real” Henry Gale?

13.  Here’s the shot of Not-Locke sitting in the old rocking chair.  Looks like the chair from the cabin.

14.  Wow, Not-Locke can repel bullets too.

15.  Ash ring repels Smokey.  This makes me wonder who exactly was in the cabin.  We saw in the pilot episode (Season One) that the trees were being parted and the sounds of Smokey.  But I also thought for awhile that Jacob had Smokey trapped in the cabin.  Now I think that it really was Jacob in the cabin as it was surrounded by Ash.  I think it was Locke who ended up breaking that ring and that is when Jacob retreated to the foot.

16.  Locke had to die so that Smokey could take over his body.  But there is more to Locke then just a vessel.  Smokey also took over Eko’s brother, Christian and Ana Lucia so if that’s is all he needed then he could have killed Jacob before.  He needed a true believer, like Locke.  I wonder if Jacob also had Locke in mind for his own use?  Remember how Richard came to him as boy with his “test” that Locke failed?  They came to him again in high school.

17.  I think we are going to hear the Juliet- coffee line again with Sawyer.  I’ve said previously that I think she’s “mind” traveling between the time lines and that is how she knows the plan worked.  Elizabeth Mitchell did say that she has more then one scene in Season Six.  How the survivors will come to believe it is the next question.  Maybe Juliet will somehow retain her memory from the island in the new time line.  Maybe that is how Mrs. Hawkings knew to tell Desmond that he “had” to go to the island – she remembered or “mind traveled.”

18.  Yeah Charlie!  I really hope they bring him back more for this season.  Charlie and Hurley were good friends so I can hope.

19.  Looks like it’s still 2004 according to Sayid’s passport.

20.  Guess we might find out why this watch was so vitally important to Jin.  But all the money they find in his luggage makes me think that perhaps Jin was the one thinking of leaving Sun in this alternative world.

21.  I don’t think that we discuss enough what a great job Josh Holloway does with his role as Sawyer either.  We know what a great looking buy he is and to come onscreen with matted hair and all covered in dirt and blood, well he still looks good.  But I think he’s really brought something extra to Sawyer last season and so far this season.  I can’t wait to see how much he does this season too with the grief that Sawyer is going to be carrying.

22.  I’m thinking that although the island is underwater in the new time line, someone (whether it be Jacob or Not-Locke) needed that body and that is where Christian is.  I’m sure he’ll be popping up this season.

23.  Nice of Kate to walk away with the torch right as Jin and Jack are going around the huge, gaping hole.  But then she hears the whispers.  I know that it appears that it’s the new Others but I’m not 100% sure of this.  I could believe that they are talking in the cavern and the whispers echo, but it doesn’t explain how they traveled out in the jungle when the survivors heard them back in Season One.  I’m hoping there is a little more clarity coming.  Maybe all of the new Others at the Temple are dead or something like what Richard is?  Afterall, they do have a ragtag group of people – ranging from a hippie to a Japanese Samurai dude.

24. More red flowers!

25.  Here is the description of the new guy “Lennon” when they were looking to cast him.  “According to the casting breakdown, Lennon is the scruffy, edgy and charismatic spokesperson and translator for the president of a foreign corporation who is far more powerful than it seems from his position.”  Is the samurai guy president of a company back home?  Did they change their minds about his role?

26.  Jack didn’t care to know what the “risks” of putting Sayid in the water were because he’s not 100% a man of faith yet.  Jack just thinks Sayid is all but dead anyway.

27.  Non-Locke says he wants the one thing that Locke didn’t – to go home.  Why does that have to mean off of the island?  I think that the reason that the Temple Others got so upset knowing Jacob was dead was because the Temple is his “home.”  And I would guess that he can do very bad things from “home” especially considering that they have the magic water at the Temple.

28.  Jack tells Locke that nothing is irreversible.  What if Locke does go to Jack and have his back fixed?  Could Locke being fixed in this time line explain and carry over to another time line?  Could it explain how Locke suddenly has the ability to walk once he’s on the island?  I’m sure there is a subtle meaning to the line also but thought maybe there was a literal meaning as well.

29.  Here’s a shot of Jack’s card, in case it means something later.

30.  Right after Not-Locke knocks out Richard he says “I’m very disappointed in all of you.”  Huh, why?  the he slings Richard over his shoulder like an old boar.  Maybe he’s going to hold him ransom to get inside the Temple?

31.  I originally thought that Sayid was taken over by Jacob.  But when asked, Darlton would only say that “something” is inhabiting Sayid.  What are the possibilities?  We may not know yet.  After all, who could have ever dreamed that there would be a freighter appear or that only 6 would get home then come back.  But I would still prefer that it’s Jacob.

Could Jacob be Alvar Hanso? I was thinking about the way we saw him the first time from the window, turned sideways. I know this doesn’t really pertain to this episode, but in trying to make links between old and new information this possibility came to mind.
alvarhanso2.jpg alvarhanso.jpg jacobeye.jpg jacob2.jpg Click to enlarge

1. I was also thinking back to some unsolved issues. Like the cages that Sawyer and Kate were in – I know they were for the animals, but what were they doing with the animals and why? And the landing strip that Kate and Sawyer were helping to clear rocks for – another plane coming to the island? Is this where the O6 will land, conveniently, when they come back? Kate’s airplane – did she forget about it? She robbed a bank to recover so why wouldn’t she be obsessing if she hadn’t taken it home with her? Will we ever see Libby’s connection to Hurley in the institution? There are so many for them to wrap up!

2. I was also thinking back to when Ben was looking at those dolls that Annie had made for him and Richard comes in. Ben asks something to the effect of “You remember birthdays, don’t you Richard?” Has Richard harnessed the healing power of the island to also maintain his youth? I like sci-fi and I’ll buy into the time travel, but never aging is going to be a hard sell to me.

3. I have more thoughts but I think I’ll save them for the next post after the recap.

4. So the O6 has been off of the island for 3 years. I can’t imagine that the Losties are going to have to suffer for three years with time moving. Remember that Walt had amazing growth and the writers promised they would explain why. Well, if Walt was off the island for years he would have grown quite a bit. But, if that same time frame was island time it would have only seemed like days. So time off the island is moving much faster than on the island. The O6 come back after 3 years but the Losties only think they’ve been gone a few days to a week.

5. Hurley tells Sayid that someday he’ll need his help but he won’t get it. But Hurley goes through great lengths to help him back home. Change of heart or foreshadowing?
hurley1.jpg   Click to enlarge
6. Ana Lucia tells Hurley not to get arrested. Hurley purposely gets arrested to avoid Ben. I guess we’ll see what kind of ramifications that decision has.
analucia.jpg   Click to enlarge
7. Must pay homage to the shirt.
shirt.jpg   Click to enlarge
8. Sun is up to something. It’s too convenient that she was in such a hurry to make her plane and then right after Kate goes on the run, Sun shows up! Does she blame Kate somehow for Jin’s death? Is she really trying to help Kate or is she setting her up for some future purpose?

9. Ben’s secret box. Reminds me of when Miles visited the lady whose spirit he talked to, he took something out of the air vent also (but I think his was money). Why was it in the vent – someone must have placed it there before Ben showed up.
benbox.jpg   Click to enlarge
10. Ben tells Jack that he’s never coming back once they return to the island. Is Jack really OK with this? I guess outside of his mother we haven’t seen that he has anything left to live for at home but wouldn’t Jack be looking for ways that he could bring them all back home? Jack seems too heroic to just accept that they will all live happily ever after on the island, which makes me think he’s got his own plan. After all, we don’t know what he planned with Juliet before they left.

11. I’m not convinced that anyone is really out to kill Hurley and Sayid. I think they were hired by Ben to scare them and send them right into his trap for the O6 to get them to agree to go back to the island.

12. Jill tells Ben that Gabriel and Jeffrey have already checked in. The flight crew perhaps? Ben then goes on to defend Jack and his drug abuse. Wow, a little empathy from Ben. Not sure outside of his daughter we’ve seen Ben express true feelings (of kindness, at least).

13. Vincent! The one character the writers have promised will live to the end. But with Vincent, there always comes trouble and sure enough, flaming arrows coming their way.
vincent.jpg   Click to enlarge
14. That was some crazy arrow shooting at the Losites. The Others were violent but not like this. Had to be the hostiles and my guess would be it was from the distant past. I wonder if the dead Losties bodies will time travel or since they died in that time then they will stay there?

15. “Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?” Hurley has the best family!
hurleymom.jpg   Click to enlarge
16. Sun really is not the person we thought she was. I think back to The Glass Ballerina and that Sun blamed the maid for breaking the figurine knowing that she would lose her job. I don’t know if she really expects Kate to kill the attorneys, but she wants her to “take care of them.”

17. Watching the scene again where Hurley tells him mom the whole truth about the plane and the survivors makes me question how more of the actors on this show don’t get Emmy or other award nominations. I’ve watched a lot of the other shows that get nominated and most of them don’t sustain the believability or momentum that Lost has. I watch Jorge and Jeremy Davies and they are so great in this show. Yes, a few of the actors have been nominated (and won, yeah!) but not enough in my opinion.

18. NOW we see hostiles! Wow, cutting off her hand “just because.” And dang it Sawyer, take their shoes!!!
hostiles.jpg   Click to enlarge
19. Loving the hot pocket thrown at Ben. That thing was hot too, that could have hurt!
hotpocket.jpg   Click to enlarge
20. The cloak and dagger outfit was a little silly here. But the dichotomy between the science and faith was interesting (science in the basement, faith upstairs). Mrs Hawkins comes across as a leader in the way she speaks to Ben and he reacts.

4 X 06: The Other Woman

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

I don’t want to say that this episode stunk because it really was OK, but certainly not in my top favorites. Even if it didn’t follow the amazing episode last week, I think that this one would still be just mediocre at best. Still not a stinker yet this season though.

Click here for my initial thoughts.

1. OMG! It’s a black rock in the Zen garden! It must mean something! (sacrasm people!)
zengarden1.jpg Click to enlarge

2. Juliet is going to die. We know about Ben’s obsession with her and I doubt he would ever let her leave the island. BUT… what if she dies helping Aaron leave the island? She obviously cares about children (she asked Ben about Zach and Emma not to mention she’s a baby doctor) and that would also explain why future Jack can’t bear to see Aaron off of the island.

3. Way to go Harper! Not only does she have a Certificate of Recognition from the Hanso Foundation, she also belongs to the Experimental Social Psychology Society. She is obviously well qualified to be counseling people on *this* island.
certificates1.jpg Click to enlarge

4. Wow, Harper, jealous much? I can understand the animosity once she finds out that Juliet is a home wrecking ho sleeping with her man, but in their first meeting she’s already cutting her down (“You’re not a celebrity…. you’ll find out soon enough that you’re no different than anyone here.”). Claws are out!

5. Yeah Tom! They really should have kept him. I would have loved to have seen his flash back story.
tom1.jpg Click to enlarge

6. I’m thinking that Juliet is of so much interest to everyone not only because she is the baby doctor, but also because Ben has obsessed about her for some time and I would guess they’ve all heard or know about it. “So, this is the woman he’s been so infatuated with.” Sounds like Ben did quite a lot of research and work to get her to the island.

7. AND, we’ve finally found Ben’s Achilles Heel. Juliet.

8. I’m wondering if Juliet somehow did figure out why the women keep dying but that Ben has sabotaged her research because it will keep her on the island. He knows how passionate she is about her work and if she can’t solve the puzzle it will keep her there until she does.  Juliet probably has no clue that she has solved the mystery because Ben is a very sneaky little man.
9. Those are pretty amazing torches that can stay lit in the rain.
torches1.jpg Click to enlarge

10. If you heard scary whispers in the jungle wouldn’t you be like “What the hell was that!?” Juliet and Jack never discuss, at least that we see.

11. Of course Ben would send Harper as an unspoken reminder to Juliet that she still *belongs* to him.

12. It was pretty good timing that Harper showed up during the whispers then vanished. It reminded me of the old Walt apparitions.

13. Why is it safer for Jack not to know about The Tempest? He’s not prone to freaking out over new information, so why not at least give this guy a clue about the gas? If I were Matthew Fox I would not be pleased with how naive they make Jack all the time. You can’t just chalk it up to trust.  At some point doesn’t he want answers?

14. I really like Kate’s new, darker hair. She must have gotten a touch up from Claire while she was at the barracks.
kate1.jpg Click to enlarge

15. Michael Emmerson is truly an amazing actor. He goes from a love sick little puppy in this scene to the crazy mad man who practically drags her to the dead, rotting corpse of Goodwin. I thought the scenes where Ben is doting on Juliet were great. He is practically skipping around his house getting ready for their dinner together.
benlovesick1.jpg Click to enlarge

16. There must be a lot of (ahem) *coupling* going on here at the island for all these pregnant women to be running around. They have to conceive on the island in order to be part of the experiment. I’m just saying that they can’t all be using in vitro fertilization.

17. I miss the old crazy, jungle running, knife throwing, sneaking around Locke. This domesticated version isn’t nearly as interesting.
locke1.jpg Click to enlarge

18. I found it interesting that the writers hinted that Ben had something to do with the plane crash. I thought that it was settled that Desmond’s error caused the crash. But Goodwin asks what Ben is going to do then they flash to the plane breaking apart mid air.

19. This is definitely a new tape of Widmore. Ben just showed Jack the Red Sox game a few weeks back in island time.

20. Does the tape of Widmore really prove anything to Locke? I think I would have had a heck of a lot more questions for a man that had just shot me and left me for dead days ago.
unamedother1.jpg Click to enlarge

21. When Locke asks Ben what Widmore wants, Ben goes into the story about the mold. I’m thinking that is our answer why Widmore wants to find the island – for the healing powers.

22. Locke wants to keep this island to himself just like Ben wants to keep Juliet. They do have this obsessive side to their personality in common. I think that Locke will help Ben keep Widmore away so he can keep the island secret.

23. Ben’s man on the boat. We all think it’s going to be Michael, but it just seems so obvious. It’s torture because on one hand we know Michael is coming back and it makes sense. But on the other hand it seems to go along with the show to have a twist. Maybe have Michael as his man but Christian Shepherd be the captain? I would love it to be Charlie but that is just asking too much. Any wild and crazy theories out there?

24. Cool new hatch.
tempest1.jpg Click to enlarge

25. Notice the painting over Ben’s shoulder. I think that this is the “her” that Harper was referring to that Juliet resembles. I think that it’s Annie. Annie probably got preggers, died, lost the baby and that is what fueled Ben’s fire to fix whatever is killing the women. Then he found Juliet and kind-of, sort-of started to forget about Annie.
her1.jpg Click to enlarge

26. Daniel sure can type fast in those heavy rubber gloves!
gloves1.jpg Click to enlarge

27. Here are a bunch of screenshots from the computer:
computer1_1.jpg computer2_1.jpg computer3_1.jpg computer5_1.jpg

computer6_1.jpg computer4_1.jpg computer7_1.jpg

28. I forgot to mention the map that Faraday is looking at to find The Tempest. My guess is the original was taken out of the Black Rock log but since they are using it to find the hatch (that could not have been there in the 1800’s) then someone who has been to the island would have had to give them the location. Michael perhaps? Maybe that is why they were holding off going to the island because they needed the one last piece to be sure they wouldn’t be killed when they stormed the island. I know that Charlie had to flip the switch to get them there, but they needed to be able to find The Tempest and the Losties on the island didn’t know about this hatch.
map1.jpg Click to enlarge

29. They have to be either purposely filming where these red flowers on the island are, the red flowers do mean something, or there are just a whole bunch of these around Hawaii. Anyone from Hawaii know?
flowers1.jpg Click to enlarge

30. If Juliet was so in love with Goodwin, then why is she so hot and bothered for Jack (outside of the fact that he’s a hottie)?

31. Awesome camera shot.
shot1.jpg Click to enlarge

32. Oops, here are some shots of inside the new hatch:

inside1_1.jpg inside2_1.jpg Click to enlarge

33. Hurley is darned good at horeshoes. But remember how good Walt was at throwing that knife? They both apparently have some special *abilities.* Either that, or they’ve spent some serious time in the Southern US learning these skills.
horseshoes_1.jpg Click to enlarge

34. First we have Hurley questioning Locke out in the jungle on the way to the barracks. Then Claire wants to talk to Miles. Now Sawyer sees Ben just wandering around. Yes friends, I think we are going to see a revolution just as Ben predicted, against Locke.

35.  Now we know what Daniel’s purpose was in being chosen to come to the island. Didn’t see that one coming. Now it will be interesting to see what Miles and Charlotte’s uses are. I’m not so convinced that they are good guys or really care what happens to the Losties. Well, Daniel and Frank seem to care, but Miles and Charlotte are certainly more self centered.

36. Could Smokey be the by-product of a gas leak from The Tempest? I think there is more to it than just gas (like it cloaks something solid) but it appears that this gas is deadly and could certainly kill people.

Initial Thoughts: The Constant

Desmond episodes have been so good! I knew we were in for a treat this week.

1. No eye opening this week at the beginning.

2. I found it interesting that Desmond and co. were out in the rain exercising. Rain always seems to be a bad omen.

3. I don’t think that Desmond’s life is being course corrected by finding Daniel in the past. Desmond is exactly on the right path. He has to go AWOL in order to go to prison in order to go on the boating trip around the world in order to make it to the island.

4. Daniel, however, was put back on the correct course by Desmond being there. Desmond said he knew he was there for Daniel, but what was Daniel going to do for him? Daniel kept Desmond on his course. Desmond set Daniel on his correct course (with the numbers for his time travel device).

5. What is messing with their perception of time? The rocket timer showed a 31 minute difference, but the helicopter has been gone a whole day but in reality it’s only about 20 minutes? That could set off a whole new world of speculation about how much time passes and how old Walt is going to be when we see him. Then Sayid points out to Frank that they took off at dusk and landed in the middle of the day. Difference coming and going?

6. Speaking of Walt… kudos to my sister for this one. What if Walt is on the freighter and Desmond and Sayid find him locked up? The only way to save him is to meet with his constant – Michael. Then it could turn out that Michael is also on the freighter, but he is Ben’s “man” on the boat. The one that opened the door to let them out of the medical room. I’m thinking that Michael knows about equipment so maybe he is also the one who cut the wires thinking the freighter people were going to hurt the survivors on the island and/or Ben.

7. The guy on the freighter who first meets the helicopter when it lands doesn’t seem too surprised to find out that Sayid is a flight 815 survivor. But, he asks Frank what the heck he was thinking bringing them to the freighter. Guess that answers the question of whether they were there to save any of them or not.

8. I know I’m skipping ahead, but what if the lady that Desmond meets (last season, the psychic from the jewelry shop) that tells him he can’t go back to Penny because it would mess up the course of events… what if she was actually good? If Desmond would have gone to Penny instead of to the island at that time then he would have not kept his promise not to contact her until 8 years later. Then maybe Penny would have changed her number and he would not have been able to contact her from the freighter. He was on the right course by going on that sailboat to the island.

9. Clean cut Desmond looks really good. Much preferred to dirty, hairy Desmond.

10. Desmond and Minkowski have the sickness! Remember the sickness that Danielle’s group got so she killed them all? And… it appears that the injections/immunizations must somehow either ward off the sickness or somehow counteract it’s effects. Dr Ray was giving it to Minkowski.

11. Omar (freighter guy) says the last port was Figi so they know they are in the Pacific. The news reports, if you recall, were saying they found the plane in the Indian Ocean. I know that whoever planted the fake plane wanted to throw off the scent from the real plane, but I’m just saying that they must have been VERY far off course to not even be close to where the fake plane was found.

12. I’m so glad that Sayid called Jack and let him know that they were OK. It only makes sense that he would do that and it ties up a small loose end (especially when there are so many BIG fish to fry).

13. For any CSI fans, it was funny to see Ecklie as Dr. Ray. He was such a jerk in CSI.

14. Lots of *the* numbers in this episode. 2.342, house #423, lot 2342 on the Black Rock journal, 8 years before Desmond calls Penny… I know that there were more.

15. I wonder how many times Daniel has been to the island. It totally explains why Daniel was crying when he was watching the news report but couldn’t remember why. His brain was fried from the trips to the island. Also explains his bad memory.

16. Daniel says that you can’t change the future. But you can change the past? How does that work? And apparently time travel involves the conscience and not the body as evidenced by Eloise. But, Daniel sends Eloise forward in time to learn the maze and she comes back to run the maze. What is the point of traveling in time if it doesn’t change anything, but it does appear to change or correct things. Desmond kept trying to save Charlie because he was having visions of his death, but fate wanted what it wanted and eventually had it’s way with him. Maybe that is what Daniel meant.

17. The incoming calls from Penny to the freighter… how did she get THAT number? I’m wondering if it had something to do with the guys she had stationed in the arctic. If somehow they were trying to contact freighters in the area they thought may be near the island but it was on behalf of Penny. And why were they under strict orders not to answer?

18. Here is my theory….. Mr Widmore (Penny’s dad) is not a bad guy. We thought he was, but I started thinking otherwise when I saw that he left the water on in the bathroom. Who does that? What if he needed the Black Rock boat log to find the island. He knows that Desmond is there. He didn’t stop him because he knows that Desmond has to go there for whatever reason fate has sent him (in the end because of him the Losties are saved perhaps). Anyway, he tells Desmond in the bathroom that he is not the one that hates him (implying it’s Penny, because she is obviously hurt and mad). Then he gives Desmond her address. Not her phone number, her address. I think that Widmore knows that Desmond has to go to Penny to get the number because of the future event on the freighter (with the Christmas Eve call). It has to happen this way. He is helping Desmond to stay on course. You following me here?

19. I also think that Hanso found the island through that journal and that is why they didn’t want anyone else to see it.

20. Dang it! Why did they have to kill of Minkowski? Fisher Stevens is awesome and I was very much looking forward to seeing him in the show.

21. Poor Sayid. Running around a freighter with these two nuts that weave in and out of consciousness.

22. Penny has a red door. Bad! Hopefully it means nothing.

23. It looks like future Penny is wearing a wedding ring.

24. I was getting all teary eyed when Desmond called Penny. Such an awesome scene! Still the best show on tv bar none.

25. Sayid gets the phone working and lets Desmond call his love. He could have called for help, but decides this call is more important. I am happy that he did, but I worry that when Ben told Sayid (in the future flash) to remember the last time he thought with his heart before his head what happened… I’m hoping that this call doesn’t lead to very bad things.

26. Penny says she has been looking for the past three years for Desmond, but he has been gone for eight. I’m guessing we will see what happened three years ago that prompted her to look for him. And she says that she was *researching* the island and then when Charlie called she knew he was alive & she wasn’t crazy. She will find them, but will it involve the Oceanic Six?

27. Desmond is Daniel’s constant. I’ve got to go back now and watch Daniel’s reaction when he first meets Desmond. I don’t remember it being significant but maybe Daniel forgot him and that is why he wrote it down. But, I also think we saw the journal to show that Desmond traveling “back” in time was real.

28. Next week looks really good too! Jack asks Juliet what she knows but Juliet is the one with a gun to Charlotte telling her to make Daniel stop whatever he is doing. I also heard a siren much like the one that was in the hatch.

29. Thanks for not making fun of my prior theory of Ben being able to time travel. I guess this week proves to me that I was right. He must have to go back in time, though, to get the money that Miles wants. The island is probably Ben’s constant and that is why he wanted to make sure to protect it. But when was he exposed to radiation? My sister thinks that he could have gone through radiation treatment for his back at some point.

Initial Thoughts: The Economist

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

I started off thinking this episode was really slow then true to form, for every one answer we got another 12 questions.

WARNING: If you haven’t watched the episode don’t read this. There is a major twist at the end.

1. What is up with this bracelet? It reads, “N, I’ll always be with you. RG.” Elsa is wearing one that we can see when she is getting ready for the opera and when Sayid is in bed with her right before he kills her. Is it something with the organization Sayid/Ben/Naomi works for? Does Mr Creepy Eyed Man have something to do with it? He is the one that hired Naomi. Seems MCEM would also want Sayid for “missions” considering all the skills he has and that he is a ruthless killer. Sayid gets to the boat and could be Ben’s mole that he can’t tell them the name of. My sis is convinced that Sayid is the mole.

2. Red towel on Sayid’s golf bag should have been a sign that someone was going to die (red has been the death theme all three seasons). But where does this guy who pulls up to Sayid even come from? I may not know much about golf but you don’t just come up to someone who’s about to hit a shot in the middle of the course for nothing. He’s not trying to pass and he even offers him a ride to the next hole. But he can clearly see Sayid is in the middle of this hole. Then, when Sayid tells him who he is, the man seems frightened and tries to leave. Did Ben send him there and why does this guy need a killing? Is he part of Dharma and they are slowly killing them off one by one? Ben killed them on the island so I’m sure he’s not above killing them off the island. This new guys tells Sayid he’s the only one on the course all morning. Suspicious, don’t you think?

3. I just watched the scene again. This guys works for Oceanic or whoever set it up to look like they died on that plane. THAT is why he freaks out when Sayid tells him who he is.

4. Looking back at the “previously on…” why was Frank studying every single name on the manifest if they thought or were told that there were no survivors from the flight?

5. So starting in the cafe, Sayid and Elsa were both playing each other. Ben actually sends them both there.

6. I knew the second Elsa had that red dress on that she was going to die. Then to see that bracelet, it was all over for her.

7. Loved, loved, loved Sawyer’s suggestion to start shooting off Ben’s toes. First you start with the big toe and send that piggy to market. Then you move on to the roast beef. Hilarious!

8. Interesting that everyone seems to have insight into the survivors but Frank didn’t know about Sayid’s background.

9. Why can’t Locke see the cabin? Aaron starts crying when they get to the location also.

10. Notice all the playground equipment at the barracks? There weren’t any children. Why all the equipment? It didn’t look old like it had not been used since Dharma. Miles even says something about a daycare being there.
11. So there is a 1/2 hour (31 minutes to be exact) time lag from on versus off the island. This should explain some of the growth when Walt comes back.

12. I thought for sure when Sayid found Ben’s secret closet he was also going to find a secret way off of the island. He might have found something for all we know and that is why Sayid wanted off of the island. Maybe he thought he could use the worm hole back to the island to save the others. Why doesn’t Sayid tell the others what he has found? It’s more costumes (like the ones from the lockers).

13. Why does Kate call Sawyer “James?” Everyone using proper names has been weird.

14. Did you notice when Kate is looking under the bed at Ben’s house the feet she sees coming in look just like when Saywer was a young boy and he saw the feet of his father coming into his room.

15. How sweet, Sawyer wants to play house with Kate. Just in time for Valentines’s Day!

16. The list! Another list!

17. Why does Sayid care about getting Naomi’s body back to the boat? This guys knows so much that we haven’t seen yet! He knows something to do with that bracelet that makes her special.

18. Why does Desmond want to go to the boat when he knows it’s not Penny’s boat? Obviously Frank and Dan “do” know about Penny from the looks they gave each other. Will be interested to see the boat scenes but I’m sure there won’t be much of that until near the end of the 8 episodes. Who does Desmond think on the boat is going to tell him about Penny when it’s NOT HER BOAT!

19. I wonder if Kate really wanted to stay behind with Sawyer or if Sayid pretty much left her.

20. Why does Sayid meet Ben in the dog kennel of all places and when did Ben get to know so much about medicine?

21. Who are they after (Ben and Sayid)? Must be the people who either purposely crashed the plane or covered it up and left them to die.

22. In the rerun before the new epi, the pop up said that the woman with Dan was not his wife but was his caretaker. This guys must have issues.

23. Sayid says something to Elsa about the old technology her boss uses. Should have been a clue that her boss was Ben.

24. Sayid closes Elsa’s eyes tenderly just like he does to Naomi. Still thinking there is more going on there.

25. When Desmond asks Frank flat out if he has ever heard of “Penny” Widmore he and Dan both say no. but perhaps they know the Widmore name, not Penny specifically. Maybe they were hired by Poppa Widmore.

26. Jack was so set to get off the island and now he lets the dead body of Naomi go before he gets on the helicopter. Yes, now that Kate decided to stay behind.

27. So Sayid is killing to protect his friends? Which ones, the Oceanic Six or all those left back on the island?

Initial Thoughts: Confirmed Dead

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

1. I’m loving Daniel. I think they need to keep him.

2. This reminds me of the group they put together to go back to the island in the 2nd Jurassic Park movie (The Lost World). So far we have the genius physicist (Daniel), the psychic soil sampler (Miles), the anthropologist Charlotte and the drunk pilot. In Jurrasic Park:The Lost World they also send four people back to island *B* to explore the island. And lo and behold, they find another sinister group of people.

3. Jack may be the doctor but it is obvious that Sawyer has the street smarts. Dan admits that saving them is not their primary objective and then because of a distraction Jack lets him walk away before telling them what their objective is. Flash to the other side of the island and Sawyer is questioning Locke up one side and down the other. YES! Finally, somebody asking questions and not backing down.

4. Sawyer probably has it exactly right, that Ben will get them. He probably does have it all planned out. We haven’t seen the Others in awhile. Will they come to save Ben? Why do the boat people want him? They obviously know about the flight, so what does that have to do with Ben and why do they care?

5. Rain as helicopter was trying to land = electrical storm = security system.

6. Daniel & friends may have gas masks for whatever, but back at the barracks they have gas masks too.

7. Notice that the salvage vehicle was called the “Christian One?” (Jack’s dad is Christian). Also, they were searching for remains of sunken trading ships. Like the Black Rock perhaps? Even though they found the plane in the Indonesian Ocean, there is no reason to believe that is anywhere even near where they crashed.

8. The ROV’s were searching in an area of coordinates that they pulled off the guys map. Perhaps they were given that map by someone who wanted them to find the fake plane wreckage site.

9. I don’t know that I can speculate why the four crew members know about Oceanic back at home except that Hanso has something on all of them and that is how they convince them to find the island. But, they have to be told before they go that there are survivors there. Like Sayid said, they didn’t seem really surprised to find them living there.

10. We obviously know now that Mr Creepy Eyes isn’t a lawyer for Oceanic and if he is, well he plays more than one fiddle in that band.

11. Tunisia – remote enough that Hanso could have had another facility there. Why else would there have been a polar bear with a Dharma symbol on it’s collar?

12. Daniel was terribly nervous when he landed. They all have guns. What were they expecting?

13. Vincent! Damn dog! Where has he been?

14. I like how Locke tells Sawyer that Walt is telling him what to do. Locke explains that yes, it’s Walt, only taller. Uh huh, have to explain that growth when he comes back. I wonder if Walt died on the boat with Michael? Maybe Jacob has inhabited the body to talk to Locke?

15. I thought for sure they were going to find Kelvin’s bones in the sandy area where Miles landed. Where the drunken pilot was pulling himself up the cliff also looked like where Jack almost fell off in Season One and Locke came along to save him.

16. Miles is not a nice person. I don’t like how he kept the money from the grieving grandma, but he did give her some of it back. And what was up with the handy Dirt Devil? Reminded me of the goofy contraptions from Ghostbusters. I think he just carried it to cover noise anyway. Need to get screenshots of the grandson.

17. Interesting how Daniel says the light on the island is strange.

18. If Miles is a psychic, won’t it be interesting to see a Miles and Jacob showdown?

19. Dialing the phone can hurt them? Remember that Michael was warned not to try to contact the outside world from the computer in the hatch?

20. Oceanic Hotline 888-548-0034, the number works! It’s just a recording about the flight being found. Yes, of course I called it.

21. Why was Charlotte wearing the bullet proof vest? They really were expecting trouble.

22. Anyone catch the numbers on the helicopter?

23. Ben doesn’t know what the black smoke it? Not sure I’m buying that. I think it’s all part of his plan to only tell what goes along with what he wants them to know to trust him.

24. So Ben has a spy on the boat? How the heck have they been communicating?

More to come! Must screencap. Not obsessed here, no way!

Ah, Season Four Is Gaining Steam!

It’s very nice to have a little snippet of what we can expect in the upcoming season. This video was shown at Comic Con – which I didn’t get to go to of course. Watch the video and I included some of the screen shots of little subliminal images that go by.

I found it interesting that he is getting makeup at the beginning. Remember the diguises Kate found in the locker?

Also, notice the “whispers” in the beginning.

Here are the images in the order they are in the video:

Secret of Lost’s numbers revealed

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Per the story below, the intent of Thomas Mittlewerk was to release this virus. So what if every person on flight 815 *was* infected with some type of virus? We are seeing that they all have cross over and maybe through those interactions the virus was passed along? Now the remaining Hanso people want to see the reaction of the virus.

Two secrets of the hit ABC TV show LOST have been revealed via THE LOST EXPERIENCE, an alternate reality game.

A video detailing elaborate back story has turned up on YouTube over here.

In short, the numbers represent the Valenzetti Equation: a mathematical formula having to do with the timetable for humanity’s extinction.

The show’s sinister Dharma Initiative seems to have been an effort by the mysterious Hanso Foundation to ward off that inevitability. When Dharma failed, Hanso’s nefarious acting leader, Thomas Mittelwerk, set in motion a plan to release a virus that would kill 30 percent of the world’s population.

The third season can’t get here quick enough.

Illinois, home of Hanso?

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I was going back through my pictures from our recent trip to Chicago.  My daughter likes to take snapshots along the road as we travel.  I was trying to decide which pictures to keep and which to trash and I happened to see this symbol in the corner of this picture.  Am I stretching here?
