Initial Thoughts: The End (pt2)

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I think I may still be crying from last night! I know that I am biased to this show but I challenge any show out there to come up with a better and more satisfying ending than what we just saw on Lost.  After six years of building and building you would have to wonder just how brilliant and involved the writers would have to be to come up with just the “right” ending, and they managed to do it.

Do we still have questions, YES!  But I’m OK with that.  I really started getting it in my head that I didn’t want them to answer everything.  I like my ideas and my theories and sure, they could have addressed a few of the bigger issues but I really am OK going out like we have.

NOTE: I don’t have a copy of the epi last night so I don’t have screen caps yet.

1.  Yes, I watched Jimmy Kimmel live and he addressed two items that I thought about as well.  One, why weren’t Michael and Walt in the church?  The first thought is that Walt isn’t dead yet so he can’t be there.  As for Michael, is he not headed to the same white light they are?  Harold Perrineau said it is because Michael is “trapped” on the island, like he told Hurley earlier this season.  I like that better than what I thought.  The other idea he presented is that the show was Jack’s redemption song, if you will and I like that too.

2.  However, I was laying there last night and still crying… and thinking that there were many of them that found redemption on the island.  Yes, Jack was our main character and the show really focused on his redemption especially this season but I like to think that the reason they can all meet in the church is that they all found their redemption.

3.  I also like the idea that in many religions that there is the theory that you are reincarnated, if you will, until you get “it right” and at that point you can go on to heaven.  I don’t think that everyone in that church died at the same time but that they were all kind of wandering around waiting on each other to come before they could all go.  I think the message there is of hope.

3.  So I guess Jack and Jacob had a little more talking off camera.  Sounded like Jack knew that he was only the temporary carrier of the torch.

4.  I was thrilled that Richard didn’t die so easily at the hands of Smokey.  I loved that by releasing the light Richard was set free and started showing a gray hair.  I just wonder after being on an island for hundreds of years what on earth could he possibly do back on land?  Imagine the culture shock!

5.  And I also never would have guessed Claire and Kate BOTH raising Aaron.  Nice touch.

6.  When Jack was down in the cave I kept expecting him to come roaring out as a plume of WHITE smoke.  Especially when he woke up in a very similar position as MIB after he was thrown in the cave.  His death, if I may, was beautiful and poetic.  And when Vincent came over and laid down beside him it was all over for me.  I couldn’t actually fully see the ending because I had a good “ugly” cry going on.

7.  So Des got a look at “the other side” when Widmore had him in the cabin with the electromagnetic energy and that is why he did whatever they needed him to do.  He knew that on “the other side” he would end up with Penny and his friends and he knew that everything that happened on the island didn’t matter.  I like when he is about to go into the cave how he tries telling Jack but Jack seems to still be holding on to one little bit of his science minded side.

8.  I love that this episode opens basically telling us the end.  The coffin is not for Christian at all.

9.  So David was what?  Just a wish of Jack’s?  That in an of itself is totally heartbreaking.

10.  I can’t believe that the big Jesus statue with it’s arms open didn’t clue me in to what was really going on.   Then there was Kate asking why she was “here” and Des telling her that no one could tell her why she was there.  And him telling her that he just wanted to leave.

11.  I was totally expecting Eko to show up and preside over Jack’s funeral.  That was disappointing actually.

12.  Them all being dead in the side time line explains why they could see the flashes of the island (life flashing before their eyes) but the island folks couldn’t see to the side.

13.  Miles and Sawyer both got off the island.  I guess those two really could become cops back home.

14.  I love that Hurley is the real care taker of the island and that Ben agrees to help him.  I bet Hurley could come up with some crazy rules for that island.  Did the writers know this way back when?  I remember Hurley coming out of the forest in a robe looking very angelic back in one of Charlie’s weird dreams.  I worry about Ben though because we have seen that he’s got a very, very bad side.  I would hope by Hurley telling him he was a “good number 2″ that means that Ben was good to him on the island.

15.  I guess Desmond’s flash of seeing Claire get off of the island in a helicopter was wrong.

16.  The smile on Hurley’s face when he first sees Charlie is priceless.  Sweet.  I loved when Sayid asks him “what was that” he says “that was Charlie.”  LOL’d

17.  And Vincent!  Hooray!  I’m so glad, even though it’s silly, that we got to see the fate of that dog.  I guess we can assume that Rose and Bernard do live happily ever after too now the Hurley is running the show on the island.  They are the new Others, only they don’t get involved.

18.  Des is the only one that crossed to the other side and came back.

19.  Since this seemed to be Jack centered redemption, then the show ending on the 23rd makes even more sense.

20.  Cracked me up when Flocke asked Jack how he planned to kill him and he told him it was a surprise.  Sounded like something Sawyer would have said.

21.  Dan and Charlotte aren’t “ready” yet and thus no flashback and they are not in the church.  Plus, they weren’t really a huge part of the Losties lives so I can see why they wouldn’t be there.  Plus it was nice that they left Dan behind to be with his mother.  As mothers we can understand why she would want him to stay with her.

22.  I loved the look on Charlie’s face when he sees Claire.

23.  MIB cracks Jack a good one upside the head with a rock.  Like mother like son!

24.  The Jack and Locke fist fight was a long time coming and it did not disappoint.  Especially the part where Jack pushes him off of the edge of the cliff.

25.  Did I mention yet that it’s a good thing Des got them all dressed up since they are all going to their funeral (s)?

26.  There has been a lot of speculation about the rain.  I think that the rain is brought on by the light or the island.  What it means is still to be discussed but after Des uncorked the light it started raining.

27.  I’ve rethought (already) why Ben didn’t go inside the church.  His real love is Alex.  Alex is probably not ready yet to cross over.  Ben logically wants to wait for her.  Christian says everyone wants someone to cross with and it makes sense that Ben would want to cross with her.

28.  Duct tape.  I think that they have a new use they could show in their ads.

29.  Did you guys have the Lost-related Target commercials?  I really loved that someone on-staff is obviously a Lost fan and they would make special commercials just for us.  I will do more shopping there just for that.  I already do shop there but I may think of them first for other things now too.  I couldn’t TiVo through them so at least they were entertaining.

30.  Fitting for MIB to die the way the Locke should have.  Locke was thrown from the window and landed just like MIB did on the edge.  I’m also glad they let him go before the end because I didn’t want the end to be a scene of them fighting.  This gave time to really build to a meaningful conclusion to the show.

31.  After Hurley drank the water (which was filthy, btw) he looked like he kept waiting on something to happen.  Can Hurley give Ben everlasting life like Jacob did for Richard?

32.  I was holding my breathe until the plane made it up in the air.  This show is so unpredictable I wasn’t sure if they would really make it or not.  But I’m glad they did.  And I’m glad that I can make up what happens from there for myself.  And if you’ve ever seen Stephen King’s The Langoliers you were probably wondering what they would face once up in the air too.

33.  So the plug in the cave is like one big button to press?

34.  Jack wakes up in the same pool area that we’ve seen many times.  Kate and Sawyer took a swim there and Kate, Jack and Hurley woke up there after being transported off of the Ajira flight.  It must be close to The Source and would explain why it’s special.

35.  I will post some screen shots of the office Jack enters at the church.  Appears to be religious symbols from every religion you can think of.  Bravo Producers.

36.  Jack and his daddy issue = RESOLVED!  And wow was it moving.

The End.

6 X 14: The Candidate

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Could new time line Locke be The Candidate?  Once he starts realizing what his old time line self is up to I think that we’ll finally get to see Locke get his redemption by stopping Flocke.  Not only is the the emotionally troubled guy we knew before, now we know he also has his dad’s accident on his conscious.  The obvious choice is Jack to be The Candidate but I can definitely see Locke filling that role.  Wouldn’t it be a terrible twist of fate if something happens and Jack ends up being the new MIB?

1.  Instead of the typical eye opening we get to see the POV of the eye.  And, to make it even more interesting, it’s blurry.

2.  I like that Jack tells him “welcome back”  We’ve seen in Sayid that they all do have good and evil in them and is capable of turning to their good side.  Locke can bring himself back around on the island after all, the body still belongs to him and if MIB is trapped in there maybe he can kill him in it somehow.

3.  In another twist of fate, Jack saves Locke in the new time line and in the old time line Flocke saves Jack by dragging him away from the bombs.

4.  Widmore says on his list are the “Kwans,” that’s plural Kwans.  Maybe he doesn’t know which one so he put them both on there.  And what is his list for?  Does Widmore also want to take over the island and needs the Losties to be gone in order to make that happen? It sure didn’t appear that he was trying to protect them by locking them all in a cage for Smokey to come and take in one fail swoop. A better idea would have been to separate them.  Make old smokey try and round them up himself.

5.  Seriously, where were the fish biscuits?

6.  Widmore even asks when the fence will be live.  Hm, maybe he was using the Losties as bait for Smokey?

7.  So far Desmond has been helping the Losties to “see” the alternative time line.  But not with Jack.  Is he really playing the same role as Jacob in that the wants Jack to see it himself?  Like Jacob said, some people just have to find it for themselves.

8.  Bernard says he remembers Locke’s accident from three years ago like “duh of course I do!”  Dual meaning?  He remembers the accident or he remembers the alt time line?  Of course he does!

9.  If this is Anthony Cooper now then how will Sawyer deliver his letter in the new time line?  How will he get any closure when he finds him like this?

10.  Relection, dual reflection.  Starting to come together?

11.  Where is Widmore when they leave the cages and then try to hijack his sub?  I think he’s watching from the same monitors that Ben watched the Losites.  We know that there are cameras all around there and he has to know what’s been going on.  Somewhere out there Richard, Ben and Miles are lurking too.

12.  I wanted Sawyer not to just believe Jack out of faith but also because Sawyer had once before been duped into believing he was at death’s door.  Remember that Ben had Sawyer convinced that there was a pacemaker implanted in his chest and if his BP went over a certain number he would die?  That was a hoax too.  For such a good con man he sure can’t see through lies very well.  Not that the bomb is a lie but that sometimes he needs to think through the logic of a situation.

13.  If Locke can’t kill them then he is going to have to use Claire to kill them.  Out of those still alive she’s the only one who isn’t in their group, so to speak.  She now thinks they left her behind twice so I’m sure she is going to be upset plus she’s one heck of a good shot!

14.  “Because it’s going to be you, Jack!”  And so the last words of Sayid were uttered.  *sigh*

15.  Now that Sayid has paid his pennance can he be together with Nadia?  This guy deserves a happy ending.

16.  Bye Bye Frank.  Another pointless death if you ask me.  Why did they drag this character around with them for all the episodes if all they were going to do is have him get run over by the sub door and drown.  Makes me kind of sad as he seemed very underused and I figured he would get his moment to shine when they flew off the island.  But, it’s kind of cool I guess that now the obvious answer to how they are going to fly the plane is gone.

17.  Blast from the past… another one.  Jack giving Hurley instructions and telling him that “you can do this, OK?”  Just like when he had told Hurley how to get Claire out of the wreckage of the plane in the series opener.

18.  Farewell Jin and Sun.  A friend of mine at work put it best.  It’s like losing friends, not a just a TV show.  But I’ve read that their death will have meaning which makes me happy because as much as I was tired of their story line I didn’t want to see them die (nothing like the annoying Ken and Barbie characters!)

19.  My eyes were too blurry with tears to notice in the very next scene Jin walks past Locke in the hospital headed to Sun’s room.  I would like to think that this was the writer’s way of reminding us that these characters aren’t “really” dead in the traditional, real-world sense.  They’re still hanging around out there.

20.  Now that Sawyer had a good clobber on the head will his island self start “seeing” his off island self?  Now he may start seeing what Juliet meant when she said “it worked.”  I can’t wait for that reunion.

Initial Thoughts: The Last Recruit

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Didn’t see that one coming!  Maybe Flocke wants them off the island?  Brilliance!  Way to go Jack, you ARE still the leader.

1.  Who is the last recruit?  Jack?  Flocke wants him because Jack’s faith is in tact much like Locke’s was originally.  In the new time line the recruit looks like Desmond.  Flocke saves Jack in the end over all the others there on the beach.  I just can’t believe that Jack will agree, he knows too much now.  I don’t think Jacob would have picked Jack if he thought he couldn’t make the right choice.

2.  Man, I wanted Jack so badly to ask for his dad’s shoes back!

3.  I loved the little pow wow by the fire with Flocke and Jack.  All sorts of questions asked that they should have been asked a long time ago.  Why Locke, why his body, was he Christian?

4.  And if Flocke is taking on the dead forms that means that Michael was him too right?  That is why he didn’t want them to blow up the plane.  So Richard had it right!  Sure hope he makes it there alive.

5.  They are so conveniently bringing everyone together in the new time line.  Ben going to the hospital with Locke.  Sun and Jin are there.  Jack comes to work on Locke.  Claire may follow him there to talk.  Sawyer and Miles will probably show up to question Sun.  Kate was with Sawyer, who knows if she’ll stick around.  And Sayid is in the mix too now.

6.  How does Sun know that Locke is “him?”  Did she see him in a near death experience?

7.   Don’t forget that Jack still has the pill from Dogan for Sayid.  So yes, he might be able to pull an “Anakin.”

8.  And Saywer’s line “who the hell is Anakin?’  followed by Hurley telling Claire, “You look…… good.”  I’m so glad to have them all back together.

9.  It is pretty ironic that Kate hit Sawyer in LA.  I guess we can assume that they aren’t “soul/island” mates since they didn’t start having flashbacks when they saw each other.

10.  Dang, they have a lot of stuff on that sub.  Fences, Desmond, now bombs?  Impressive.  Can a bomb kill Flocke?

11.  Looks like Ilana is still working with Jacob in the new time line.  She’s working with Des to get the Losties together.  Her last name sounded like “Radzinsky?”  That was the crazy guy from 1977 who helped build the hatches, who blew his brains out in the Swan.

12.  Sayid even talks differently now.  But I can tell you that he did not kill Desmond.  Even if Sayid tried if the island isn’t done with Desmond then it will not let Desmond be killed.  Sayid even has a little smirk on his face when he tells Flocke to go back and check to see if he killed Des.  A little bit of him left in there?

13.  I love Sawyer, “That pilot who looks like he stepped off the set of a Burt Reynold’s movie.”  “That’s before she started drinking Locke’s Kool-Aid.”  He’s back!  Just need some punchy one-liners in the new time line.

14. Come on, David’s mom HAS to be Juliet!  Show us already!

15.  I’m waiting for the “dural sac” to burst just like the woman from Jack’s season one story.  Then he’ll count to five, fix him up and Locke will walk again.  But, I can’t wait to see what Locke will figure out about this island other-life while he’s under!

16.  Will their guns even work after being in the water?

17.  Did Liz Lemon ask who else was there because they wanted Jack?  Why is it OK to bomb Flocke knowing Jack is there?

18.  Geez, finally Jin and Sun!  it’s interesting that Sun’s island person is like what the original time line person experiences.  She kisses her true love and gets her voice back much like the island life flash the others have gotten.

19.  They aren’t killing Sawyer and company.  They must want them safe as well.  We need to find out soon why they all need to be together.

20.  Next week looks to contain one ticked off Smokey.  Should be one crazy blood bath!

Initial Thoughts: Everybody Loves Hugo

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Some episodes I’m surprised, tonight I actually jumped when Ilana blew herself up.  My cat even jumped when it happened!  I kind of hoped from some smart remark from Hurley about having “Ilana” on his shirt, but that would be tasteless.  And a black and white (pun intended) answer regarding the whispers.  I am not a fan of the characters just telling us the answer, I like getting them through subtleties better.

1.  Instead of an eye opening there was a very long screen of black.

2.  I really want to know if the picture of Hurley and the dog was his real dog.  He always blogs about it and it sure did look like Nunu.

3.  I was hoping to get the story behind the nickname “Hurley” tonight.  Sigh.

4.  I can’t wait to screencap this week.  Why is Hurley giving money to an “experimental farm?”

5.  Pierre introducing the new Hugo Reyes paleontology wing of the Natural History Museum.  Very cute writers!

6.  I love Hurley’s mom.  She’s giving him a pep talk about finding someone to love him then proceeds to smack him.  Priceless!

7.  Nice red flower by Libby’s grave.  The red flowers return!

8.  So who is Michael?  Is Michael really an apparition or is there a third party embodying him?  How else would dead Michael know what Hurley is supposed to be doing unless it’s not really him?  We’ve seen other dead people wandering around talking and leading the Losties and it’s either ghosts or one “thing” that can embody them and talk to them.

9.  I think that anyone that goes to the plane to blow it up are going to be killed by Flocke and that is why Michael didn’t want Hurley to lead the Losties over to the plane.  Plus, they are going to need that plane to get off of the island themselves.

10.  Oh boy, I hope they don’t all board the plane with Flocke then send it crashing into ocean.  But if they find out they have a “better” life in the new time line and what Dan told them about what would happen if the bomb exploded was true, then I can easily see them all agreeing to let the plane crash.

11.  What happened to Hurley’s original date Rosalita?  Could Des have “shooed” her off so that Hurley would have to meet Libby?

12.  And Libby staring at Hurley across the restaurant.  Reminded me of her eerie stare way back when in the mental institution.  We have all been wondering why she was just staring and how she knew him.  Well, I think that original time line Libby also knew Hurley from both time lines.  I think that Libby was staring at him both times because she “mind traveled” even back then and knew that she and Hurley were meant to be together.  Plus she knew his name in the restaurant and that was not because she overheard anything, this girl knows stuff!

13.  Libby touches Hurley first but nothing happens.  I guess they need to have an open mind before they can “see” through the touch.

14.  I guess the island was done with Ilana, just as Ben said.

15.  I like how Flocke is now making his own “Jesus Stick.”  Wow, so many things coming back from the last seasons!  I’ll get a screen cap along with Eko’s stick.

16.  No one followed Sayid and Flocke into the jungle when they were talking?  Sawyer is a pretty curious fellow and I think he might know that Flocke pushes Des into the well. Looks like next week though they are going to try and find lots of ways to kill him down there.

17.  Hurley better hang on to those ashes that Ilana was carrying.  May come in handy with Old Smokey.

18.  Of course Desmond’s number was 42.

19.  Des has no where to run to, brotha.  Because maybe he knows that this “life” is limited on the island.  He’s not afraid because he knows that he can face Flocke (the elecro magnetism in Smokey) and not die.  He is meant to do something here.  I really expected when Flocke asked Des if he knew who he was that Des was going to say MIB’s name.  Dang them!

20.  Same picture in the psychiatrist’s office as was when we first saw him.  I remember it because we all talked about if it meant something.  I was also expecting Dave to show up.  Or Leonard chanting the numbers.

21. Maybe Creepy Eyed Man came to visit Hurley in the original time line at the Loony Bin because he was trying to get Hurley to remember something.  His job was to take people where they needed to go.  Did he need to take him somewhere so he could remember something too?

22.  Hurley’s momma isn’t going to be happy with his choice in dates.

23.  I think the little dirty boy out in the woods has it in for Flocke.  He seems pretty irritated by him and the boy has a very taunting smile on his face.  And how can Des see him if he’s dead?

24.  Richard is right, Jacob never tells them what to do.  Jacob wants them to find their own way.  That is why he doesn’t give them the keys to the handcuffs, they have to want the answer.

25.  Either Richard, Miles and Ben are going to die trying to blow up the plane or they are going to end up saving the others from Flocke’s group.

26.  I’m still loving Jack this season.  Mr Fix it is giving in to fate, who would have thought it!  But now that Jack “gets it” what happens to him?  Does he become the candidate or does he have to die for the island now?

27.  Flocke needs to trap Des because he needs to stop him.  He has to know that becoming the smoke won’t stop Des because he’s faced the electro magnetic energy and it doesn’t hurt him.  So perhaps something down in the well acts like kryptonite to Des?  Maybe whatever is down there will keep Des there.  And the other wells are probably in the same areas where there are “pockets” of energy that Widmore is looking for.  And if that is the case then his group has a chance of finding him there.

28.  Flocke has to be happy that the other Losties he needs came right to him!  However, he is still missing Jin so he can’t go anywhere yet.

29.  The scene of Flocke and Jack meeting, PRICELESS!!!!  The last time Jack saw Locke was when he was putting his dad’s shoes on his dead body.

30.  Here is my theory on why Des tries to kill Locke in the new time line.  Locke needs to die because his body is needed to get MIB back into it.  Right now MIB is wandering the earth in the new time line.  The way to catch him is to put him back in the body of Locke and then either send him back to the island or destroy him forever.

31.  Creepy Willy Wonka music in the scenes for next week!

32.  The note Sun is showing says “You did this to me!”

33.  Sayid is pointing the gun down the well at Des and he’s just sitting there smiling and the light goes dim.  Looks like the same effect as when Locke fell down the hole and the time changed.  Maybe Des “mind travels” out of there and can’t be killed at that moment?

34.  So if it’s your true love that will lead you to discover your alternate life then who will Sawyer and Jack see?  I’m voting and hoping for Juliet and Sawyer, Jack and Kate.  Truthfully I’m not very excited about this direction in the story but at least we’ll see Juliet and Sawyer back together.

6 X 11: Happily Ever After

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

I think the title this week is ironic.  I don’t know based on our known history of these characters that any one of them will have a happily ever after – except maybe Rose and Bernard.  Things look good as of the end of this week for Desmond and Penny but I’m very skeptical if it’s going to turn out where they can sail off into the sunset.

1. Typical opening scene with Desmond’s eye.  I can’t help but think back to Jacob’s cabin a few seasons ago when the eye appeared and freaked out Hurley.  Whose eye was that?  I’m not saying it’s Desmond’s eye but knowing that he can manipulate time and space then why couldn’t it be?  It could also be that at the time 4 X 01 was filmed they didn’t have Jacob and MIB cast so they just used “someone” but it’s far more fun to speculate.

2.  If the generator hasn’t run for 20 years then does that mean they’ve been preparing all these years for this moment? What else could they have needed this large of a generator for?

3.  Call me crazy but this sure does resemble the inside of Jacob’s cabin.  Insert a crazy dog painting and there you go.  Could Jacob’s cabin have been more than just a place for Jacob to sit and wait on Ben to come for orders?  Could it have been some kind of portal between time lines?

4.  Maybe they should have drug the fried dead guy out of the cabin before bringing in Desmond.  Might have not been such a scene that way.

5.  How does Widmore know that Des survived an electromagnetic blast?  Technically a lot of people, including Charlie, survived when Des turned the key.  But someone from the island got word to Widmore about the blast.   Also, this “test” that Widmore does this week is not the blast that he needs Desmond to survive and is not what he needs Des for yet.  They still need to channel the energy from the pockets on the island.  Maybe Des is going to be the conductor to the MIB and that is why is so OK going with Sayid.

6.  I don’t think we’ve seen what Des is going to have to sacrifice but I’m guessing that it’s his life in one of the two time lines.  Widmore showed him that he will have Penny either way so he can die in one and still have her in the other.

7.  OK, so they are using electromagnetic energy on Des so he can mind travel.  But I still think he’s got more work to do with this energy and that this experiment was just to set events in motion.  I like the “flux” gauge the best.

8.  This show has had some pretty weak special effects but I thought they did a good job with this one.  Des almost looked like he was in a “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” scene though.

9.  Also, right after Des gets “lit up” the screen goes white then to the clouds.  This all reminded me of Juliet hitting the bomb, flash to white then start this season in the clouds.

10.  SKID, you are right.  Two Desmond reflections.  I would guess that yes, it’s of major significance.

11.  So many things about the Losties lives are the same in both timelines and it brought them aboard flight 815 even down to the outfits that they have on.  Yes, there are some major differences in their lives (Saywer and his job, Jack having a son) but many things are the same.  In the original timeline Desmond was not on board the flight because he was already on the island.  There are many, many differences in Desmond’s life.  In science experiments you throw in variables to see what the difference in the outcome will be.  I would say that whether it be Jacob, MIB or Widmore playing this game, Desmond is for sure a variable on the board.  His choices, his fate affect the direction of all of their lives.

12.  Desmond reflecting on things that could have been, or were, or might still happen.

13.  Widmore tells Desmond that unless he can get Drive Shaft to the charity even that his wife (Eloise) will “destroy” him.  Nice wording.  Probably literal.

14.  Desmond is finally worthy of Widmore’s MacCutcheon whiskey.  Widmore needs him now whereas before Desmond didn’t appear to be on the right path.  Maybe previously Widmore thought Des wasn’t “ready” and in this time line it’s Eloise that thinks he’s not ready/

15.  I’m sure we will look back on this painting and it will mean more by The End.  For now I’m guessing it’s a wish for the scales to balance again.  I’m going to firmly take sides and speculate that MIB is free in the new timeline.  Widmore needs to use Desmond to balance the scales which does make him a good guy.  Maybe he was a good guy in the original too.  I still think that him wanting to kill Ben was to stop Ben from killing Jacob.

16.  How cool was it to see Desmond and Charlie back together again?  They were having drinks again just like they did by the campfire.

17.  There is something very surreal about Charlie in the new timeline.  When they go in the water while Desmond is struggling to get out Charlie just closes his eyes and succumbs to his fate.  When they are the in the hospital he runs to be free and tells Desmond that there is nothing that they can do for him there.  Why?  I don’t think the guy is suicidal and there is something very special about him here.

18.  Not Penny’s Boat.  How does Charlie know to lift up his hand?  But the doctor says Des bumped his head and it appears from Sun’s experience that you can cross over when you bump your head.

19.  And why aren’t these people on shore helping?  Why not throw over a life preserver or something?

20.  The guy with Des at the MRI tells him to try and not press the button because then he’ll have to start all over from the beginning.  Ironic, don’t you think?

21.  OK, there is no way that the MRI machine sounding like Smokey is just a coincidence.  And Smokey also “reads” people like the machine does (like when Smokey comes, Desmond is having flashes of his past/other life).  Not that Smokey is an MRI machine but it’s still pretty ironic.

22.  Gratuitous Charlie screenshot.  I don’t know if we will get anymore for the remainder of the show so I just had to get one more in here.  I love his character and thought it was fabulous to see him again.

23.  Eloise does not look very happy to see Desmond.  While everyone else is finding their happily ever after mates something tells me that Eloise and Widmore aren’t the happiest married couple.  Widmore has his agenda moving forward and she doesn’t seem to agree by trying to stop Des from finding out who Penny is.  And SKID you are right again, the same symbol that Juliet had branded on her.  I’m leaning towards Eloise being on the “black” side of the scale.

24.  I think that Eloise wants to stop Desmond because she does not want him to interfere with this timeline.  My guess is that she probably made a deal with MIB to have her son back and doesn’t want Des to interfere with that.  Remember that MIB does try to deal to bring back dead people (Nadia, Richard’s wife).  She probably helped to free MIB in this time line in exchange for her son (Dan).  She reminds Desmond that he has the “perfect life” including the thing that he wanted the most, Widmore’s approval.  That was true for the old time line as well.

25.  Another list.  Eloise tells Des that he’s not ready to see the list.  Who knows how many Losties are on that list.  By the time he leaves the stadium, however, he is ready for the list and asks for a different one, the flight manifest.

26.  Two dead people from the island and both reflections are black.  Mankowski and Dan.

27.  I’m thinking that the “museum” is special.  We know that Pierre Chang and Charlotte work there.  Eloise has a connection (the fundraiser is there) and Dan hangs out there.  I would guess we are going to see more Dharma connections come along at the museum this season.  Maybe the new lighthouse station is there.

28.  Why would Dan pull Des aside to talk about Charlotte and his crazy dream?  Could it be because Dan wrote more than just one page of crazy equations?  Maybe the page is in there where Dan wrote that Desmond Hume is his constant? Seems that Dan’s mind crossed over in his dream after being “sparked” by seeing Charlotte and that is how he remembered some of his physics.

29.  Yes, Dan is a musician but his book was left behind in 1977.  You can believe that Eloise and Dharma got their hands on that book and is probably how they know so much about time travel, Desmond, and the alternate time line.

30.  I also wanted to get a gratuitous shot of Dan in here.  He’s another one of my favorite characters and we might not see him again this season.   Oh and yes, of course he’s wearing the tie!  Now they need to bring in Juliet!

31.  OK, did Dan tell us that this new timeline wasn’t supposed to be an that maybe the energy needs to be released to end it?  He speculates to Des that maybe “this” isn’t the life they were supposed to live.  He may very well have to kill off all of the Losties in one time line or another to set things straight and it sounds like from Dan’s speech that the new time line has to go.

32.   Anyone expecting Desmond to tell Penny, “See you in another life, brother sister” at the stadium?

33.  Des wakes up on the island and is ready to go with Widmore’s plan.  I think it’s part because he knows he will still be with Penny and part because he’s working for Widmore and gained what he wanted, his respect.  There is a remote possibility that Des’s consciousness switched places between the two timelines so that the Des that didn’t have Penny can continue without her (on the island) and the Des that loves her now has her again in the new time line.

34.  Did anyone else chuckle when Sayid just killed two people yet told Des that “these people are extremely dangerous?”

35.  The fact that Sayid doesn’t kill Liz Lemon Zoe shows that he still has a little humanity left in him. There is good and bad in everyone.

36.  What could Penny be training for when she’s running these stairs?  Could it be for a sailboat trip around the world?

37.  Is Des going to show the Losties through love that they have another life on the island?  What about those who didn’t have it?  Is he going to show him the way back to that love so that if he has to kill them all here they will understand or agree to go?  Locke had to find a way to convince them to all go back, maybe Des does too.

Initial Thoughts: Happily Ever After

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

All my favorites all rolled up in one episode.  Desmond centric (I knew right there it was going to be good).  Charlie, Charlie and more Charlie!  And Daniel!  So far all the Des centric episodes have ranked up as my favorite TV of all time and this week did not disappoint.

1.  We didn’t need a “previously on Lost” this week because Des hasn’t been around yet this season.  But we did get the eye opening.

2.  Isn’t Liz Lemmon Zoe a geophysicist?  Why is she in charge of the meds for Desmond?

3.  If Ben shot Desmond then could he be working with Flocke?  Was he trying to stop Desmond because he knew that Des would come back to help stop Flocke and be used by Widmore?  It would also explain why Ben killed Locke, because he knew MIB needed his body.

4.  We get to see behind the scenes on Hydra.  But they didn’t just build this generator/time machine overnight so they must have been preparing for a long time much like when they were building the airstrip.

5.  I loved the lip twitch when Widmore tells Desmond that he’s back on the island.  Now THAT is acting!

6.  What sacrifice did Desmond make?  Did he leave his consciousness back in the new timeline and that is why he’s so docile once he gets back?

7.  Desmond is touching or interacting with each of the Losties much like Jacob did with them.  But, if the candidates are different this time it could explain why the numbers are different in the new time line (as they correspond with the candidates for this time line).  You will see that Hurley’s lottery numbers are different and thus I think that we have different candidates here.

8.  Looks like Minkowski is playing the same role the Creepy Eyed Man played in the old time line.  He’s driving people where they need to go.

9.  Nice scales in Widmore’s painting.  White and Black rocks, just like in MIB’s cave.

10.  Is Des going to have to take another sail boat trip? He was admiring the sail boat in his office – red herring or things to come?

11.  I was confused.  Charlie is NOT Widmore’s son.  I watched the scene back and Widmore wants Charlie bailed out because, he says, he needs him to come and play with Daniel at the event.  I love that Dan is now a musician, instead of a physicist.  I LOVE that Widmore is sending him right to Charlie so that Charlie can help him “feel it” or see what he needs to do.

12.  MacCutcheon whiskey.  Now Des can finally drink it. AND toasting his “indespensibility.”

13.  Interesting that Charlie can just walk across the street without getting hit. Much like how Michael couldn’t kill himself either and Jack couldn’t get the dynamite to explode.

14.  Reflection, full body, in the courthouse door of Desmond.

15. Charlie says “Spectacular, conscious-altering love.”  How apropos for this episode.

16.  Charlie sees Claire when he’s dead?

17.  I guess if you are going to get Des to do what you want then love would be the card to play.  However Widmore set this up he was right to use love and Penny to get Des to see or “feel” whatever he needs him to do.

18.  Choices – Des tells Charlie that there is always a choice. Then Charlie has to nearly drown (again) for Desmond to see what he’s talking about.  I really didn’t need to see drowning Charlie again as that scene will haunt me forever.  But we got the point brother!

19.  So there were guys walking around the pier and none of them jumped in or ran over to help?

20.  I thought for sure Des was going to go back to the island during the MRI since they were asking him the same questions and it’s magnetic energy.   But he did take quite the crazy brain ride!  Let me just say that it’s crazy and insane how the writers come up with these scenes.  To think this stuff up is genius!

21.  Whatever Charlie knows Desmond figures out by the end.  None of “this” matters.  No one in the hospital can help him.

22.  Eloise is surprised to see Des.  Probably because they are running at least a day ahead (according to what Zoe said to Widmore about not having the generator ready).  Widmore probably sends Desmond to Eloise to let her know whatever plan is taking shape here is going forward.  She tries to give him a similar warning as she did in the past.  What violation is he committing?  It’s almost as if she’s working on MIB’s side by trying to stop him.

23.  Nice Dan reflection – his was the first one where we couldn’t actually see him but only a black shadow.

24.  What is up with all these guys in love?  Dan talks about Charlotte (and I love that she’s eating a chocolate bar).  Then Dan wakes up and draws his advanced equations.  What if Des has to set off a nuclear bomb in the new time line to stop MIB and put things back they way they should be in the original time line?  That’s why Dan is back as he is COURSE CORRECTING!  In the new time line the MIB is free and roaming the earth and Des has to set off the bomb to stop him and put things back the way they should be.

25.  I was expecting Des to meet Jack again in the stands.

26.  I can believe a lot of things on this island but if you are a woman in a huge stadium running and some guy comes up to you would you shake his hand?  Would you go to coffee with him right after meeting him?

27.  And he touches Penny.

28.  Widmore had to know that Des was going to be taken.  Why else would he send Des out where he could get nabbed? And Des must know it’s OK to go with Sayid.  Maybe because Des left behind his consciousness in the new time line.  He’s now started on his mission.  His sacrifice is to leave Penny and Charlie behind in the old time line but he can begin again in the new time line.  If that is true and new time line is a good place then Desmond can show the Losties that Dan’s plan and Juliet’s sacrifice were both worth it.  why else would he need the manifest?  Or maybe he needs the manifest to find the new “candidates.”

29.  Sayid must have some decency in him as he tells Zoe to run instead of just killing her.

30.  Just had another thought.  Regarding the title – des finds his happily ever after in the new time line?  charlie found his in the old time line?

6 X 08: Recon

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

It was cute, in a weird way, that they book-ended this episode with Sawyer’s famous line “Son of a B*tch.”  I kept expecting someone to bring up Sawyer’s daughter (remember Clementine?) but it was more like Sawyer is the lonely bachelor which is weird because it seems like characters who didn’t have kids before (Jack, Sayid’s niece and nephew) now have kids but Sawyer, who did have a kid, now is childless.  Just seems odd to me.  Does that take care of his daddy issue?  And if he doesn’t have offspring then we can definitely say that it is his name on the list?

Which makes me think of one more point before discussing this week’s episode – are we going to find out what was up with the fertility “problem” on the island?  It played such a huge role in this show I’d like to find out what Darlton was thinking about this and why it was such a big deal.

1.  I forgot that Sawyer promises Jin in the opening scene this week that if Sun is on the island they won’t leave without her.  More proof that Sawyer is going to gather up his “friends” before leaving, and not just the ones that are with Flocke.

2.  Speaking of, could they get Jin and Sun together already?  Jin and Sun have their episode coming up in a few weeks but in the meantime this separation is just annoying.  It’s played as far as it can go (or that is how it’s been going the past 7 episodes).  Maybe they will somehow end up being the Adam and Eve in the cave.  The only problem I have with that is that they would have to leave their daughter behind.  I’d rather see Adam and Eve end up being Rose and Bernard.  I can appreciate building a story but the outside of being on opposite teams in the upcoming “war” (which could be easily overcome by walking away) I don’t see how the separation is adding anything to the story.

3.  So Miles is the one that set up Sawyer and Charlotte and he knows her because she works at the museum with his dad.  His dad – Pierre Chang?  The name plate of Miles’ desk shows the last name of “Straume.”  I suppose they could have changed their name back home.  But did Pierre get off of the island before the bomb went off?  Does he remember his encounter with Miles back in 1977?  To know that would answer some important questions of how the time lines split.  And who is Miles’ girlfriend? It would be funny it is turned out to be Juliet.

4.  In the new time line Sawyer has become a really bad liar as opposed to the “best liar” Flocke has ever met.

5.  Are we assuming that the Christian that appeared around the island was some type of MIB manifestation?  Because “Christian” is the one that drew Claire away the night that she took off and left Aaron behind.  I got the impression this week from the conversation Flocke had with Kate that he does want Kate to raise Aaron.  So my conclusion is that yes, MIB/Flocke was the one who played the part of Christian.  I think that question deserves and answer in the show but not sure it will be clarified.  But Claire originally told Jin that she had a friend AND Locke so from that comment I think that maybe Christian is playing a third role in the MIB/Jacob tug-of-war.  But the psychic told Claire that she had to raise Aaron making me think that Jacob would want Claire to raise Aaron because if he’s “raised by another” then he can take over Flocke’s position on the island.

6.  If I remember correctly, in one of the time flashes when the Losties were talking to Richard he said that they gave the Army the chance to leave peacefully and when they didn’t they killed them (I think Miles even stepped on one of their graves).  This is the same thing that Flocke says about the Temple dwellers.

7.  Terry O’Quinn is an amazing actor.  I’m already starting to get “fuzzy” on the way our original Locke acted.  I was watching him with Sawyer totally engaged and then realized how well I’m sold on Locke now being “Flocke.”

8.  In the original story Charlotte became an archeologist because she was on a quest to get back to the place she was born, the island.  Here we are in the new time line and Charlotte still has pursued archeology and to add to that we can assume that she’s working with Pierre at the museum and he has intimate knowledge of the island.  We know that Dharma is/was around in the new time line because Roger Linus talks about being in the group on the island.  I think we are somehow headed back to the island in the new time line from the hints that they are dropping AND that I don’t know why we would even be seeing what is going on in this split universe if there wasn’t some point to the larger story arc.

9.  I agree that Charlotte should not have been snooping through Sawyer’s book but wow, talk about an overreaction!

10.  Frank can fly that plane off the island.  Why isn’t MIB trying to get Frank if he is sincere in wanting to get to the Ajira plane?  Another lie, what a surprise!

11.  This doesn’t look at all like a trail of ash or ash around the bodies.  To me it looks like a trail left by a big cloud of smoke (ie; Smokey). Probably the trail of where he chased these people then mass murdered them.

12.  The character seeing their reflection is becoming what the eye-opening was in the past.  Probably nothing more then a tiny piece that strings the episodes together – like a “Where’s Waldo.”

13.  The irony of how Kate hid from Smokey in these trees in Season One and now he’s sitting in them chatting with her.

14.  This season is about “mommy” issues whereas the past has been about “daddy” issues.  Flocke, Locke, Claire and Aaron, Danielle and Alex, (I’m sure we’ll see Eloise and Daniel), Kate and Aaron.

15.  Looks like Sawyer’s MO hasn’t changed much in each time line.  He brought a similar flower to Juliet back when they were still happy in Otherton.

16.  When Saywer was on the sub telling Widmore that he’d help him get Flocke I kept yelling “no, don’t do it, they are working together!”  But glad to see that Sawyer went back and told Flocke  the same thing.  I think it was his best move yet.  Let them fight it out… or let them join forces to do whatever they are going to do here on the island.  When this all comes to a head it is going to be one crazy special effects episode.  Hope they can hire some good CG people before then. :)

17.  I’m not buying the Claire trying to make amends with Kate.  First of all we know she’s nuts and second, we don’t know what Flocke has told her.  He could very well be telling Claire to kiss and make up for now then she can get her revenge later.

18.  I think that Flocke knew someone was on the other island but he didn’t expect it to be Widmore.  Makes me wonder who is in that locked door that he might have really been expecting.

19.  Kate asks Sawyer who is going to fly the plane and he tells her that they are taking the sub.  OK so same question, who is going to be able to drive it?

20.  Next week is Richard centric and I am so excited.  I am expecting answers to big questions.  Let’s hope!

6 X 07: Dr Linus

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

The age old question of “what if…?”  But the new parallel time line isn’t just about what if flight 815 had not crashed.  Jack having a son was not a result of the flight not crashing.  Ben now being chummy with his father is not the result of flight 815 not crashing.  Juliet setting off the bomb has had a significant impact on the future of all the Losties, maybe even others we don’t know.  At some point we will see why it’s important that we know what happens in this other time line  but I suppose it’s human to wonder what your life would be like “if” you or your ancestors had made other choices.

1.  If Miles has to be near the body in order to pick up the last thoughts, how did he speak to that lady’s grandson a few seasons ago?

2.  Reflection.

3.  The irony that Ben is tending to his father’s oxygen tank (looks and sounds like gas) when he gassed his father back in the original story.

4.  They didn’t show us that Ilana is carrying this toolbox and collection wires for nothing.  My bet is on her helping signal Widmore to the island.  However, there is a chance that Jacob knew Widmore would be coming so he instructed her to set up a signal to help someone else, perhaps Desmond, to find the island?

5.  Six candidates are left: Jack, Hurley, Kate, Sawyer, Jin/Sun, and Sayid.  Seems that Sayid and Sawyer would be long shots at this point.

6.  This scene is very reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz and the scene in the field of poppies.  Only I don’t remember anyone waking up thinking about cheese curds.  And they took a nap (albeit involuntarily) on the way to see the Wiz (like on the way to the Temple).

7.  Frank questions how different his life would have been if he had been flying Oceanic 815.  Yes, there could be yet another alternate reality out there where Frank was the pilot.  This series of “what ifs” reminds me of when you put two mirrors together and they just keep reflecting back in to each other indefinitely.

8.  Sure looks like the Black Rock.  The number 19 had heavy significance in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series… and we know that Darlton is a fan.

9.  It’s funny that Artz gets so frustrated with Ben for stalling when he wants answers.  Kind of like how we feel, huh?

10.  Ben sure does dig a perfect rectangle.

11.  “That guy is crazy and I know crazy!”

12.  Man of faith.  We always see the eye opening so it’s interesting to see the change in Jack along with the eyes closed this time.

13.  I think that Smokey may be tethered to the island by chains.  All the noise that he makes and the fact that he can’t jump fences makes me think that he might still be in chains and it keeps him on the island.

14.  I was surprised that Ben chose to stay with Ilana.  His shot at power was with Locke.  Maybe there really is remorse inside of him and hope that his sacrifices for Jacob still mean something.

15.  I was really disappointed not to see a Dharma patch on Alex’s backpack.

16.  Never one to pass up on an opportunity, I love the Miles dug up the diamonds.

17.  The final scene with Widmore was yet another reminder of the brilliance of the writing on this show (and the crappy CGI but I can live with that).  Who would have guessed this turn of events!  Who can imagine what crazy things are going to happen with this guy around?

6 X 06: Sundown

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I understand that Sundown is when Smokey attacked the temple, but this week’s title seemed like it should have belonged to a Sun and Jin story.  I could probably skip the first 45 minutes of this episode and get to the meat of the story, but there are some larger themes to address (plus, seeing Keamy again was pretty cool).

1.  In the opening (Previously on Lost…) Ben’s dad shoots Sayid in retaliation for shooting his son.  Oh yeah, Sayid tried to kill Ben when he was a boy.  It would be the ultimate retribution to see Ben turn around and shoot evil Sayid.  Redemption?  And ironically Sayid seems to be the new Ben.

2.  I was also thinking back to the bracelet that Sayid was wearing.  I have a feeling that there will never be an explanation of this one.

3.  Don’t forget that Jack still has the poison pill.  If there is some of the good Sayid left inside, he might just agree to take it somewhere along the line.

4.  Instead of a mirror reflection, Sayid has a distorted, half reflection.

5.  Sayid says to Dogan, “You think you know me but you don’t.  I’m a good man.”  One of many indications that the “good” part of Sayid will come back around.

6.  I really want an explanation as to why the ash line kept out Smokey… until Dogan died and then it was a free for all!

7.  Jacob told Hurley that he couldn’t go back to the Temple because someone bad was going there.  Jacob didn’t mean Claire at all.  He knew that Smokey would come and kill all of those that were there and therefore knew Dogan was going to die.

8.  I still think that this could be the box that Ben was hiding in Jack’s hotel room.  Since we’ll never get the answer on the show I’m sticking with my theory. I’m sure that this knife was an artifact that needed carefully guarded.

9.  Whoops, guess Sayid let Not-Locke have the first word.

10.  I wonder if the same magic box that brought Locke’s Dad to the island would be used to reunite Sayid with Nadia (Not-Locke’s promise).  Even though the promise to have whatever he wants is enticing, there must be a price.  Maybe he has to go to the sideways world to reunite with her and would have to forget everything he knows from this world.

11.  Yeah, I’d say Claire and Kate are going to have a Kung-Foo fight out in the jungle.  From the look on Claire’s face, I wouldn’t mess with her.

12.  “I make good eggs.”

13.  Dead is dead.  Keamy was destined to die.  Course correction.  I’m assuming the same fate will find all of the characters we’ve met and they died.  Can’t wait to see Mikail’s return!

14.  What is Jin doing in the freezer?  He did have an enormous amount of cash on him at the airport and we know that Keamy makes loans.  Jin also had a watch to deliver to someone very important.

15.  In the current world everyone has daddy issues, even Dogan.  Dogan is the daddy in his story.

16.  I hope that they use Miles for more than a few silly one liners this season.

17.  I couldn’t find any definitive images in Smokey.  I’m attaching one that looks like something there, but couldn’t find  anything very defined.  It’s very creepy that you can hear a scream as this goes by.

18.  Ilana must know about the “candidates.”  Have you noticed that she calls them all by their last name?

19.  I just can’t believe that the Temple people went to Not-Locke’s side so easily.  I know this is some of them because the little boy (the one that wasn’t on the plane but was at the Temple) is standing there with Not-Locke.  So much for being faithful.

20.  Not-Locke/Smokey was taking what appeared to be pictures of Kate and Juliet a few seasons ago (remember that?).  I don’t think that he expected to see her and I think that he’s suspicious of her being there.  But knowing that Jack is going to be on team Jacob it’s hard to imagine that she’ll stay with Not-Locke.  I know Saywer is on that side but he’s going to be pining over Juliet.

21.  In the previews for next week it looks like Ben is digging up Locke’s body.  I wonder if he’ll try to take it to the Temple to be resurrected.

Initial Thoughts: Sundown

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Everybody’s Kung Foo Fighting!  Not that I encourage it, but the scenes where Sayid meets his match are always pretty exciting.  I have to say I was not loving the episode this week until the last few minutes.  Then it really got good!

1.  Sayid’s reflection in Nadia’s door. Not a mirror but still a reflection and he looked at himself.  So is he not dead?  The reflection was distorted though.

2.  Very interesting that there are more kids this episode.  Are the names on the wall/lighthouse the offspring?  Could everyone who has been on the island an ancestor of the Losties and then their children will follow after them?  Cyclical?

3.  Dogan says that for every man there is a scale, one side good and one side evil.  Some have said that Not-Locke and Jacob come from the same man.  Also, does this imply that each person has a choice in what side they embrace?  Sayid still has good.  Will we ever see that good again (I sure hope so!)?

4.  Sayid’s brother woke him up at 2:30 (play on the number 23).

5.  We have confirmation that Dogan has a son back home.  It’s a sad story.  But it sounds much like the same story that was told to Juliet (remember her sick sister?).  But Richard came to Juliet.  Jacob himself came to Dogan but it doesn’t sound like it was a very good deal.

6.  I liked the imagery of the boomerang.  And that they broke the vase that Sayid was trying to fix.  He was conveniently fixing it too right after Not-Locke told Sayid he could have anything in the world that he wanted.

7.  What brought back Sayid?  I assume it has something to do with Not-Locke but I’m not convinced that what’s done is done.  I think that Sayid can come back around.  There were multiple references to Sayid still being a good man, that he wasn’t the bad man he was in the war and that every man has two sides.

8.  OK so all of Dogan’s people were that easily convinced to leave the Temple?  And now they are just going to follow Not-Locke after knowing he was evil?

9.  I didn’t see Sawyer with Not-Locke at the Temple.  Maybe left him in the cave?

10.  Sayid’s brother comes to him asking him to help with the men he owes money to (of course it ends up being Keamy!).  Sayid ends up killing them.  Not-Locke also comes to Sayid for help in which Sayid also kills for him.

11.  So it wasn’t the ash that kept out Not-Locke?  As soon as Dogan is dead then he can cross the line?  And what is up with the special dagger to kill Not-Locke with?  Is this the same box that Ben was hiding in the air vent in Jack’s hotel room last year?

12.  Very interesting twist putting Jin in the cooler.  More that to come I’m sure.

13.  Sayid started looking dark when he went out into the jungle to find Not-Locke.  Then he was realllly bad by the end o this week.

14.  Notice the rain when Smokey started coming around – when there was trouble?  I don’t know at this point if it means anything or is just a story device to let us know that trouble is coming.

15.  There may be more 12’s but I caught that Sayid was 12 years out from the war and that Dogan’s son was 12 when he died.

16.  Claire is totally going to try and kill Kate.  Great acting when Kate told her that she did have Aaron.

17.  “Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket…”  the same song Claire used to sing to baby Aaron.

18.  It’s really not fair that Not-Locke’s team has the crazy smoke that can just kill all sorts of people.  How on earth can they fight that!  Maybe that is Jack’s important job?

19.  When Not-Locke tells Sayid that he can have anything in the world it reminded me of when Ben told Locke something similar and referenced the “magic box” on the island.

20.  The look on Not-Locke’s face when he sees Kate come out with Sayid says to me that he doesn’t believe that she really wants to be there.

21.  So here comes the “war” that we heard about, that was coming to the island.

22.  The fact that Claire is so surprised that Kate has Aaron makes me think it was Jacob that came to her back home in the image of Claire and told her not to bring him back to the island.
