5 X 08: LaFleur

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Thanks everyone for your excellent comments.  I’m writing my initial thoughts around 11:00 at night which is late for me since I have to get up early for work the next day (no, sadly my work does not revolve around Lost).  So thanks again to everyone for your thoughts, comments, and additions to my blog every week, especially the initial late night thoughts.

1.  We know from past dialog that there is going to be an “incident” that changes things on the island (like fertility presumably).  I originally thought that Jughead was going to start to leak, but I’m now wondering if the Losties have to do some crazy donkey wheel turning event to propel themselves back into the present time.  My guess is that it’s before the big DI purge as by leaving that will give the Losties a whole new sense of guilt for not staying to help.  I’m also guessing that Daniel is going to have to convince them that they can’t change the past and therefore the Losties cannot interfere with the purge.  I can see this being especially hard for Sawyer as he is their head of security and from the looks of things he really cares about these people (like begging Juliet to help Amy deliver the baby).

2.  I think that the O6 had to come back because each has a specific role that they will play and they must be there for the course of events to happen.  Course correction.  Do we know what that is yet?  I don’t think so.  In an interview awhile back Darlton said we wouldn’t find out until late Season 5 into Season 6 why they had to come back.  In the meantime, I’ll sit back and enjoy watching Sawyer’s evolution (go home Kate!  He’s doing great!)

3.  It must have been very strange for whoever found the rope just sticking out of the ground.  Could this have possibly been what lead someone to dig the well, find the cavern and eventually to digging the Orchid Station?
sawyerrope.jpg   Click to enlarge

4.  The giant statue is holding a giant Ankh.  Coincidence?  It’s the same symbol that was on Paul’s necklace
statue.jpg    necklace.jpg  Click to enlarge

5.  I’ll tell you why I think the turning of the donkey wheel caused the statue to crash.  After the flash Miles says that “that one was more like an earthquake.”  Unless anyone has a better explanation, I’m thinking that an earthquake would be a reasonable explanation for a statue going down.

6.   For any doubters, the spelling for this episode is “LaFleur.”  I’ve heard some chatter about this and maybe there are alternatives, but for us this is the correct spelling.

7.  I’m curious how they buried the bodies of the hostiles so quickly.  They don’t have shovels.  The logistics of it doesn’t make sense.

8.  I think Mr Friendly may have been trying to call a truce with the Losties back in Season Two where they meet up with Locke and company out in the woods.  Mr Friendly says that it’s their island and they allow them to stay there (I remember thinking at the time that they should just let them go home then…).  Part of the problem with that truce is that the Losties refused to stay put and were always traipsing around the island.

9. OK so the “Internest” says that the mothers always give birth on the mainland.  The possibilities are that there have been problems giving birth or that these peace loving hippies have enough common sense to get their people proper health care.  Either way, it’s a good thing for Amy that Juliet was there.

10.  I wonder if who the baby is even matters.  But, if it does then I think it would have to be one of the male characters in his 30’s.  That would be Jack, Sawyer, Ben or Desmond.  It’s not Ben because we were witness to his birth.  My guess would be either Jack or more likely Desmond since we know he is “special.”  Plus, we really know nothing about Desmond’s parents.

11.  I can also see why Richard would specifically recruit Juliet back to the island as she may be the last person who delivered a baby on the island.

12.  Look how cute Sawyer looks when he’s all happy and stuff.  Yes!  I like this version!
happysawyer.jpg    Click to enlarge

13.  OK, so Sawyer does say that they were looking for the Black Rock, not on it.  But has Horace really not heard of the boat?  He seems to know later on when he brings back the dynamite.

14.  How can the little girl Daniel sees be Charlotte?  They are in 1974 and it was said earlier on that she was born in 1979.  The only reason I can think of is that in her mother’s effort to cover their tracks and change her identity post-island was to also change her DOB so that no one would know that it was her.
charlotte.jpg   Click to enlarge

15.  I’m thinking that Sawyer’s revelations to Richard about who he was and talking about Locke is what turns Richard around and has him send for Locke (remember the “science camp” that they tried to recruit “high school Locke” to go to?).  If Locke “failed” the test when he was a young boy Richard may have been doubting that Locke was special.  Then along comes Sawyer and restores his faith in Locke.

16. Looks like things have also changed for Juliet.  When we first met her she was burning muffins that she tried to make for the book club.  Now she’s making Sawyer a big meal.
julietcooking.jpg   Click to enlarge

17.  Didn’t Patchy say that he was one of the last remaining DI?  He even still wore the jumper.  We haven’t seen him yet.  Will be curious if they bring him into the story.

18.   I wonder where Jin called Sawyer from?  He only had a walkie and no cell phones.
19.  I’m thinking that Sawyer will have to say that Jack and co. are his long lost ship mates.   Hurely might be hard to explain as he kind of sticks out.  And where the heck are Rose and Bernard… and Vincent!

Initial Thoughts: LaFleur

Yes!  A whole episode around Sawyer.  It’s about time!  He’s been hanging in the background long enough!

My first thoughts when they were showing the scenes from last week is that now Daniel has a heartbreak just like Hurley did.  Not sure that means anything, it was just sad to see how much Daniel cared for Charlotte.

1.  Interesting that Juliet keeps calling Sawyer “James.”  Old habits die hard I guess.

2.   A brief glimpse of the statue.  We still don’t know what it is, but now we know how it broke.

3.  Nice pot brownies they were eating.  Guess it’s just a peaceful community, huh?

4.   So they are keeping the bears in the cages.  If they stay in the 70’s we’ll get to see what that’s all about… finally.

5.  If Horace finds the dynamite then he has to have found The Black Rock.  Sawyer’s story was that their ship was the Black Rock.  Not that Horace would remember with all the brownies and alcohol.

6.   I really like Horace as the leader.  He’s so kind to everyone.  Unfortunately, as in real life, the really great leaders don’t always make it when someone like Ben with his personalitity is around.

7.  New theory!!!  What if Richard and Jacob are arch enemies like Ben and Widmore?  Maybe, Richard was a corpse like Christian (and now Locke) and was on the Black Rock when it crashed.  The island somehow brings him back to “life” and that is how Richard understands the process.  Anyway, somehow Richard and Jacob are enemies and that is why Jacob must be kept in the shack.  Richard is truly the mastermind behind all of it.   This would explain why Richard is so “old,” why Jacob is trapped in the cabin and why ultimately Richard seems to be there for all the important events.  Thank goodness that Nestor Carbonell’s other show bombed because he seems pretty central to the plot here.

8.   Nice to see that stuffy Saywer of the past still has a sense of humor.  He tells Amy that Horace’s actions are going to be on the coconut telegraph.  I remember him saying something similar to Hurley about the coconut internet.

9.  So what are we thinking about past Sawyer/LaFleur?  I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sawyer and Juliet together.  Was looking forward to him breaking the Kate habit.  But the whole look doesn’t do much for me.  The glasses and the limp 70’s hairstyle.  However, the kinder, gentler Sawyer is extremely appealing to me.  I kind of like the hippie Sawyer’s personality.

10.  Poor Daniel.  He’s so out of it that there are gun shots and he just stands there while everyone else ducks.

11.  It doesn’t look like 1974 or the preceeding 3 years have been so bad to them.  Ben originally says that some terrible things have happened over the 3 years back on the island, but truth be told, it looks like they have really moved forward and became comfortable in their lives on the island.

12.  I want to see a Miles episode.  He has the crazy talent for talking to dead people and I’d like to see it in use!

13.   Seems like we know now how Patchy survived being shocked by the sonic fence.  It just knocks you out.  Nothing too special about him after all.  OK, well maybe he’s still special but it’s not as tricky as we thought.

14.  The Truce.  DI and Hostiles.  Richard finds a way around that with Ben doesn’t he?

15.   Doesn’t look like Jughead has started to leak yet.  Like Sawyer said to Juliet, whatever makes them not be able to have babies hasn’t happened yet.  Ooo! Lightbulb!  What if Juliet figures out what *is* causing the women to miscarry by being back in time then chooses to stay when they return to present time because she can help them now.  Juliet and Sawyer can stay back and restart the DI.

16.  The Losties know about Ben’s purge of DI so will they warn them or do they have to stay quiet so as not to change the course of events?

17.   Did we ever hear what Amy named the baby?  Please tell me it’s not Charlie again.

18.   They are playing on the same record now, just not the song they want to be on.  I like the parallel between all the record players we’ve seen and their 70’s music.

19.   Dan sees “little girl” Charlotte.  Gave me goosebumps.

20.   Guess it used to be a heck of a lot easier to come and go from the island when Horace was in charge.

21.   The alarms in the compound that sound are identical to those on the second island where Jack, Kate and Sawyer were held captive.  Will we see their purpose while they are back in time?

22.   Richard sure does make it through that fence easily.  Maybe because he’s “special?”  He says that it keeps other things out… like Old Smokey perhaps?  Or Other Others?

23. Remember Ben’s secret room in his house where he went to get his passports and some underground tunnel?  I would guess Juliet knows about it.  Could it come to play now?

24.   Richard doesn’t seem very surprised when Sawyer tells him the story about Locke, the bomb, etc…  Perhaps he was expecting them?

25.   Oh Lord, now Kate has to come back and mess up their peace and tranquility.

26.  I loved this episode.  But everything was just too sweet for Lost, something really bad is for sure going to happen.  I love how Sawyer has found his place and seems so at peace with it.  I could have seen an ending for the show in this manner and I hope for Locke that they help him to finally find his place, too.

Initial Thoughts: The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I didn’t get to watch the pop up episode before the new one this week.  Anyone have any good stuff from it?

1.   How could Locke not be nominated for an Emmy award for acting?  He has been spectacular this season so hopefully we’ll see a nomination next year.  Although, Lost isn’t the show dejour anymore so who knows if the powers that be will even notice.

2.   Alana tells Cesar that she first saw Locke standing in the water in his suit.  I just watched part of Season One again this past weekend and the first time Jack sees his dad on the island is…. you guessed it, just standing there in the water, in his suit!  I think this is confirmation that Jack’s dad had some sort of resurrection like Locke has had coming back to the island.

3.  Cesar and the new plane crash “Losties” are on the second island.  He knows stuff.  Why else would he be looking for maps and information about the island?  Why does he need the shot gun?  Seems like someone gave him some insider information before he came to the island.

4.  Also looks like rather than a tragic plane crash, they were lucky to have the landing strip that Kate and Sawyer helped build.  My guess is that in some of the time travel they knew that the plane would be coming with Locke so they were building the strip for that landing specifically.

5.   Frank and “some woman” took one of the boats and headed off.  Great, now I’m wondering what Frank is up to (I thought he was a good guy).  How could he have possibly known that they had landed on a second island?  Who was the woman he was with, where did they go, what are the up to?
6.  Is Alana going to be the new Ana Lucia of the island – only far less annoying?  She fits the tough cop role.

7.  I’m guessing Locke wants the passenger list so he can make sure all six were on the plane.  Remind you of another list?  Ben wanted the manifest from flight 815 probably for a very similar reason and maybe one of them was to see if Christian was there as well.

8. I love how Locke just enjoys life.  He eats that mango like it’s his first after being resurrected from the dead.  Oh wait…

9.   There is a lot of truth telling this week.  But then again, maybe not.  Do we really know that Widmore is the good guy?  Creepy eyed man wasn’t telling the truth – from what we saw when he first lied about Helen.  Ben loves, hates, loves, kills Locke.

10. Did we really need to see Locke puke? YUCK!

11.  So Widmore is watching the “exit” from the island.  His story sounds about what we thought.  He was exiled by Ben and now he wants to go back.  But I’m not so sure I believe that Widmore was the leader.  However, Ben just takes what he wants so I guess it’s possible that in his jealousy he found a way to get Widmore off the island.  It’s also possible that they are *both*hot heads and they *both* wanted and still want to be the leader and each is willing to do anything to get back and be the self-appointed leader.

12.  Somehow Locke does fit into all this and I don’t know that there is enough information at this point to know why he’s so important and why both Widmore and Ben want Locke back.

13.   You know, they could have treated Locke a little more gently when the plucked him from the desert.  The only thing I can figure is that they didn’t know if he was a good guy or a bad guy when they first found him.  Also, I was thinking of the parallel imagery between being born and what Locke went through.  He “wakes up” like just being born, and all these strangers grab him and man handle him and shove stuff in his mouth and hurt him.  Maybe like what a baby feels right after being born?

14.   So what’s this war all about that’s coming?  I don’t think they are talking about some type of atomic bomb or could they?  If it was an actual world war I could see why they’d want to be on a time shifting island.  I want to go there too!

15.   Widmore says that the island needs Locke and it has for a long time.  Can’t wait to see what that’s all about.

16.   When Widmore and Locke were chatting right before Locke took off for the airport, it looked remarkably like Eko’s village.  The dirt and the kids kicking a ball around.  Maybe a recycled set?

17.   I also liked that Widmore answered every single one of Locke’s questions without hesitation.  Now, maybe he’s a professional liar and is just less jumpy and allusive than Ben, who knows.  But it was nice that people were asking and people were answering!

18.   Interesting that Sayid chose to do charity work.  Seems a bit like he was running away from the law while trying to make some type of penance for all the bad that he did back home.

19.   So why did the obituary say Locke was survived by a teenage son?  Did I miss something?  And I was certainly expecting more when Locke met Walt.  I thought it would be a far more touching scene.  Instead Walt is just having dreams about Locke back on the island in a suit and a lot of people trying to kill him.  I’m hoping we’ll see more Walt as there has to be some explanation of why he’s so special.

20.   Abbadon helps people get to where they need to go.  So he’s the grim reaper, right?

21.   Helen died of a brain aneurysm 4/8/06.  Really? Just because we see a tombstone doesn’t mean someone is dead (Jin).  The writers once said that once someone dies, they are dead but I guess that’s not true since Christian and Locke are up and walking around.  I still found it very sad for Locke.  The one person in his life that he really loved.

22.   Locke’s one visit to Jack was enough to convince him to go back?  Now we see why he was on that plane ride a few seasons ago, just wishing the plane would crash.  I think that Jack already had a very heavy sense of guilt for leaving the other Losties back on the island and Locke’s visit just pushed him over the edge.

23. That is one crappy hotel that Widmore puts Locke in.

24.   I want to confess that I cried when Locke was trying to kill himself.  His anguish was palpable!  And I don’t think he was going to kill himself to save the island, he was doing it because he genuinely believed that he was a failure.  Heartbreaking scene for me.

25.  I believe that Ben truly did not want Locke to kill himself.  That is, until he heard that Jin was alive and then to know that Locke has to see Mrs Hawking, that put him over the edge.  But… killing Locke with his bare hands!!!  I know that Ben is not above killing people (remember the killing his own father while looking him in the face?).  But come on!   Outside of when Charlie died, this was my second least favorite scene of this show.  And I don’t mean in an angry way, but that “I’m so emotionally invested in these characters I couldn’t bear to watch” kind of way.

26.   “I’ll miss you John, I really will.”  Ben is completely convinced killing Locke was what he had to do.  Does he believe that Locke will rise again?

27.  So the previews are setting it up like Kate and Sawyer reuniting is the scene we’ve been waiting for.  Not for me!  The first scene I wanted was the Desmond and Penny meeting, which we got.  The second one that I want to see is when Juliet reunites with her sister.  Sawyer and Kate, yeah, it’s interesting but I have sisters and one in particular that I’m very close to and if I knew she was sick and then I left and couldn’t come back to know how she was doing I’d be devastated!  To me, that is way more moving that two people that only met a few months ago.

28.  Cesar saw the light right before the O6 disappeared huh?  So far, only those *traveling* have seen that light.  Not sure that there is anything to that yet.

29.  And when is Vincent coming back!

5 X 05: This Place Is Death

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

If you thought this episode was about your workplace, well then you probably in for a let down. :)

Ratings were down again for Lost.  Is it really a surprise?  We are down to the nitty gritty now with the show.  Things are now making sense (well, sort of) to those of us who have maintained our commitment to the show.  Lost isn’t one of those shows that doesn’t delve into character development, the characters (including the island) *are* the show.  You can’t just pop in and out like a soap opera and a year later it’s the same story line.  The show has evolved and yes, it does take thinking to keep up and understand what is going on.  So for those viewers who have lost interest, I’m sure they are glued to the set every week wondering who’s going to get voted off their favorite show.  Lost isn’t for those with a short attention span and those who don’t want to think and commit.  But I know that there are at least still 9 million of us in the US still watching Lost and I don’t think that those ratings are too bad all things considered.

1.  Ben the bad guy vs. Ben the good guy.  I have to say that a guy who can unemotionally gas his own father cannot possibly be a good guy.  But, I’m still shocked by Ben defending Jack to Jill.  I hope by the end of next year the question is answered but perhaps there is some middle ground?  Like anyone who has read the book “Hannibal” can relate, you can be a horrific killer and still somehow there is a human being inside somewhere who does have feelings and the capability of being kind to others.  I’m also wondering what Ben means when he tells Sun and Jack that they have no idea the things he’s had to do to keep them safe.

2.  Is Locke a sacrifice the island demands?  Remember how Locke says this about Boone?  I’m thinking this – Smokey is a security system for the Temple.  The Others are headed to the temple when the Freighter is headed to the island.  We know that when Danielle’s team gets close to the Temple Smokey pops out and takes one of them in what looked to me like a sacrifice.  So how does this all tie together?  The Temple is the heart of the island so when you reference the Temple you are in essence talking about the island.  So I think we are going to see that some force around the Temple is what is demanding these “sacrifices” and Smokey will factor into the mix.  I would assume that the group of Others headed to the Temple probably had to sacrifice one of their group to Smokey in order to enter the Temple.  Maybe the Temple is where Locke will re-enter the island either in his flesh or in whatever form Christian has taken to move around.

3.  I’m questioning the nature of the “sickness” that Danielle’s team had.  Many of us assumed when we saw the Freighter gang getting sick from the time travel that we had figured out the “sickness.”  But after seeing how Robert duped Danielle then almost killed her I’m questioning what sickness they had.  Danielle indicates it was something infecting them down Smokey’s hole.  We haven’t seen any of the Losties go down there yet so perhaps we are going to see a whole new “sickness” we didn’t expect.  Perhaps the Others had the anticdote to whatever it is (remember the injections that Desmond was taking and that they were giving Claire?  We never have really gotten a satisfactory answer to what that was.)  Perhaps next season they will go down Smokey’s hole and get sick and Juliet will save the day with the injections.
lost_charlie_immunizations.jpg   sickness.jpgClick to enlarge

4.  I’m sorry guys but I can’t remember who pointed it out, but yes, Theresa is the name of Boone’s nanny that he said fell down the stairs when he was young.  Theresa is also the name of Ana Lucia’s mother, but I would think the more probable connection would be to the nanny.

5.  Black and white.  This has been a theme since season one (sorry, my brain is on overload looking back at what it all means and how it’s coming together).  Someone had a good point that Christian is not a manifestation of Jacob at all but they are two separate forces.  Could Christian be the black (bad) and Jacob is the white (good)?  Why does Jacob need Locke to help him?  The ashes around his cabin are probably to keep out the evil (Christian).  An ancient rivalry perhaps (Widmore did say that the rivalry went back a looong way).  Could have started at the time of the four-toed statue or the Black Rock.

6.  Remember how Jack picks up his father’s body at the morgue?  Could Christian at that point have sacrificed his mortal body in order to return to the island (like what we think Locke is going to have to do)?
jacksdad.jpg   Click to enlarge
7.  When we saw Dan at the construction site of the Orchid, could that have been when he traveled back to warn a young Charlotte not to return to the island?  Perhaps the had to live there for awhile in order to get close to her as a child.  Perhaps he was also there to keep them from digging into where Jughead was buried.  Charlotte just remembers now that Dan (the crazy man) told her not to come back to the island, like when Desmond woke up with the “new” memory of Dan telling him to find his mother?
8.  In case you forgot about the obituary for Locke, here is the transcript.  Who is the teenage son they refer to?

The body of Jeremy Bentham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim’s loft. Concerned for tenants’ safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Bentham is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening. (source; The Tailsection)

9.   Opening with a close up of Sun’s eyes (well, her face but the closest we have had to the old opening technique of a close up on someone’s eye)

10.  Translation, “I’m going to kidnap Aaron so he’ll be safe and bring him back to be raised as your brother.  I have to do it since Kate is such a whiner and can’t do it herself.”

11.  Here are the best screencaps I could get of Smokey.  The scenes move so fast it’s hard to get a clear shot, but I don’t see anything new.

smokey6.jpg    smokey7.jpg   smokey8.jpg   smokey11.jpg

12.  To go along with my theory that they are jumping to very specific places… Jin stops Danielle from going down the Smokey hole because of her baby.  Had Jin not been there she would have followed them and could have potenially been infected with the “sickness.”  Not necessarily course correction, but just keeping the course… on course.
danielle_jin.jpg  Click to enlarge

13.The Temple doesn’t look so much like a temple but more like a wall left from what used to be a temple.  I wonder if what is on the other side is what Danielle has referred to in the past as “the dark territory.”
temple.jpg   hiero1.jpg  temple2.jpg Click to enlarge

14.   Montaud’s arm.  The same arm we see Vincent bringing back to camp in 3 X 12?
arm.jpg   vincent_arm.jpg   Click to enlarge

15. I think that the sound that they hear before they flash sounds just like what we used to hear right before we used to see a flash back/forward.  A simple device used by the producers to indicate time change.

16.   Could Charlotte be the child of Ben and Annie?  They moved away and her mother wanted her to believe it was all a dream.  Maybe Annie was in hiding from Ben and couldn’t have Charlotte talking about the island in case it could lead Ben to them.

17.Is it just a coincidence that Locke says to Miles, “I’ll see you when I get back.”  Miles can talk to dead people.  Locke knows he has to die to come back and Miles is capable of talking to dead people.  On a side note, I really want to know when Miles will start talking to Jacob.
locke_miles.jpg. Click to enlarge

18.  The light at the end of the tunnel for Locke.  Interesting imagery.  Looks like that would have been one heck of a fall for him.
locke_well.jpg    Click to enlarge

19.   Christian meets John under the well to correct the course since Locke was supposed to move the wheel, not Ben.  He can’t help John up because he has to do it himself without any help or it won’t work.

Initial Thougths: This Place Is Death

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

I really wanted a two hour episode tonight.  It was so good.  This season has been spectacular so far.  Can you imagine if we had to put up with re-runs while they are building this momentum?  I, for one, am willing to wait the extra time if we don’t have to suffer through re-runs.

1.  Opening on Sun’s eyes.  We haven’t seen the opening on an eye yet this season.

2.  Is Sun planning on kidnapping Aaron?  Why would she tell Ji Yeon she met a new friend for her in America unless she was planning on them meeting soon?

3.  You can hear the numbers on the walkie talkie that Robert has.  I’m wondering if it was Lenny talking… before he left the island.

4.  Cute, the (blonde, jerky crew member ) says, “Next you’ll be talking about submarines…”

5.  Jin seems moved watching how Robert treats pregnant Danielle.  His heart must be breaking knowing that his wife left preggers.

6.   Finally, we get to see a little bit of The Temple…. and Smokey lives there!  Did you catch the hieroglyphs on the side, just like what was on the counter in the hatch right before it blew up?  I wanted to see what was there, darn time shifts.  I can’t wait to screencap Smokey this week.  And Robert wants to go down the hole to help since they don’t leave anyone behind.  Sounds like another hero we know, Jack.

7.  Next Jin comes across Danielle and her crew, mostly dead.  And Robert wants to kill Danielle!  Almost like he was dead and Smokey took over his body.  Like Yemi when he meets Eko way back when.  I’m not so sure now that it was the time travel sickness that takes over Danielle’s crew.  Robert wasn’t acting like he was brain fried, he seemed possessed.  Danielle seems to think that he was “infected” when he chased Smokey down the hole.

8.  Jin finds Danielle by following the smoke.  Remember that Danielle was following the smoke when she kidnapped Claire’s baby and was taking him to the Others?  There *has* to be a connection.

9.  And why does the Temple need a security system?

10.   It was cool to see that Sawyer was so happy to see Jin.  Genuine happiness out of Sawyer!  Thank goodness someone gets to explain to Jin what is going on.

11.  Finally, someone seems confused why Locke would want to bring someone back.  Jin doesn’t want Sun back there.

12.  Ben tells Sun that he just needs 30 minutes and he can prove Jin is alive.  How is Eloise going to prove it to her?  I doubt the ring alone will convince her.  Why would she just take Ben’s word for it?  And if Locke wakes up he’ll tell her that Jin is dead since that was his promise and we know that Locke is a man of his word!

13. Charlotte was talking and acting like Teresa (the woman back in England who’s brain was fried by Daniel first).  She was popping in and out of time and different ages.  I like that we know that she was there before and why she was so adamant about getting back.  But I was really surprised they killed her off.  I think we know that Dan must travel back and tell her not to come back.  But he’s breaking one of the “rules” by doing this.  Love sure has a funny way of making you do crazy things.

14. Seems Charlotte is a fan of the Jeronimo Jackson.

15.  Dan says that as far as bringing the O6 back that is where they leave science behind.  Meaning?  Meaning that they don’t have to bring them back?

16.  NO! Sawyer has a nosebleed!

17.  Charlotte also knows that the well is by The Orchid station.  Maybe when she was a kid she spent some time there.

18.  Shouldn’t they have left Dan with some type of protection, like a gun?  They’ve seen how the Hostiles can be so they really should have given his something.  And where are Rose, Bernard and Vincent?

19.  Locke descending down the well was interesting imagery.  At first I was thinking of when they were lowering Kate down the hatch but my sister pointed out it was like a birth canal.  Maybe also like death… you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

20.   Juliet thanks Locke “if whatever you’re attempting to do works.”  We have been too trusting of her.  She knows stuff.  She was an Other.  I think we’ll be seeing more of what little miss Juliet knows in the coming epis.

21.  If they don’t bury Charlotte will Smokey be able to move her around like the other dead people from the island?

22.  I think we see now that whatever they are holding they take with them when they travel.  Sawyer is still holding the rope when Locke is going down the well and the time changes.

23.   I don’t think Christian is Jacob.  I think Jacob somehow embodies him or can take over any dead body that isn’t buried on the island.  But he does know about Jack when he tells Locke to tell his son he said hello.  Christian/Jacob can’t help Locke up so I assume that’s because he’s not physically there, but not sure yet how that works.  Projecting somehow perhaps?
24.  Why does Locke have to die to turn the wheel and why is he always hurting his legs?  Ben didn’t die when he turned it.  And Christian/Jacob seemed pretty perturbed that it wasn’t Locke that turned the wheel.  Locke does take shortcuts though, like when he let Sawyer kill his dad for him.  But, if Christian/Jacob wanted Locke to turn the wheel, I think somehow Ben knew this but did it himself for another reason.  Remember, Ben always has a plan!

25.   Ben actually looks surprised when Desmond shows up and says he’s looking for Dan’s mom.  I don’t think he knew!  Or, he never thought anyone would else would figure that piece out.

26.  I don’t think Eloise is really OK with just the two of the O6 there.  She probably will send her other people to help round them up.

27.  Wouldn’t Desmond just be absolutely freaked out seeing Elosie?  He HAS to remember that she’s the one that sent him to the island and taught him about course correction.

28.  I saw Jack jumping in the water in next week’s epi so we know at least he is there.

5 X 04: The Little Prince

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Who is The Little Prince in the show? On first glance I thought it was Aaron. But then I went and read the book online and I’m thinking now that it’s Locke. You have a young boy who leaves his star and goes on an adventure to 6 different stars, including landing on Earth. While there, he discovers that even though it’s small, he wants to go back to his star, B-612, but the only way to get home is to be “killed” by the snake. But, he doesn’t really die, just has to leave behind the empty shell that is his body. You can read the story here.
thelittleprince.jpg Click to enlarge

1. Is it right that Kate keeps Aaron? If Kate knows that Claire was flying to LA to give him up for adoption then I’m sure Claire told her other personal things like about her mother. Sure, Kate probably thought mom was in a coma until they met at the funeral home, but was she OK just to keep him without a word to anyone? I understand that she probably has an emotional connection to him relating to the island and the loss of Sawyer, but I’m not convinced that Kate did the right thing by lying about being his mother. She doesn’t even know if Claire is alive so maybe her redemption should come by going back to the island to give him back to Claire.

2. Sun says, “Don’t worry about us Kate. There’s candy and a mini-bar and 100 channels on TV.” Geesh, what’s she going to get him from the mini-bar? :)

3. Sun’s report on Ben doesn’t seem to say too much. Looks like he went to the mailbox a lot.
report2.jpg report.jpg report3.jpg Click any image to enlarge

4. A couple of thoughts on Sawyer. I’m loving all the screen time so far this season. I also really like the way a calm Juliet plays against the irritated Sawyer. And he listens to her! She tells him to go away and he does. He must trust her because later her tells her about seeing Kate.
sawyer.jpg Click to enlarge

5. If you recall, originally Jack was going to be killed by the smoke monster and Kate was going to become the leader of the Losties. However, it seems like her character development has been to a whiney, whimpy woman. What happened to the outlaw, tough chick from season one who could use a sewing kit to close Jack’s wound? The Kate that robbed banks and killed her step-father for being a jerk? Now she believes things at face value and is always on the edge of a good cry. Geesh, let the chick have her cry and bring back the Kate from season one! Can you imagine if this lawyer would have come to her back then? Tough checks aren’t scared of attorneys!
kate3.jpg Post Island Makeover. Not a fan.

Daniel_Kate.jpg Island Kate. Much better.

6. Are they purposely making her eyes look this scary? Wow!
charlotte.jpg Click to enlarge

7. I don’t remember Locke’s light being that bright from the hatch. And why wouldn’t the Losties, any of them, noticed this beam?
light.jpg Click to enlarge

8. I’ve discussed my thoughts on Sawyer seeing Kate and Claire in my initial thoughts, but I wanted another excuse to post a screencap of him… :) OK, OK, the look on his face is very touching as well.
sawyer2.jpg Click to enlarge

9. This water *has* to be from after the O6 come back to the island. But it does beg the question “where are they?” Where are the Losites and the O6? Guess we’ll eventually see!
water.jpg Click to enlarge

10. I couldn’t get a good shot of the boat that chases the Losties but I’m sure when they shot and edited the episode that is what they intended. Our choices of who they are: O6, Other Others, Richard & the Others, Rose and Bernard?
boat2.jpg boat.jpg Click to enlarge

11. This was not my catch but apparently “Canton-Rainier” is an anagram for “reincarnation.” Ironic considering Locke’s dead body is in that van.
van.jpg Click to enlarge

12. Apparently, this box reads “612″ like the Little Prince’s star!
blackbox.jpg Click to enlarge

13. I think we know why Danielle didn’t get *the sickness.* She is hanging on to her music box here. If you recall, it was very important to her and Sayid fixed it in Season One while she held him captive.
danielle.jpg Click to enlarge

14.  Wow is Jin in for a big shock when he starts time jumping!  First he meets young Danielle, then she just disappears in front of his eyes.
15.   Is Ji Yeon going to be allowed to return to the island?  She’s not considered one of the O6 so will the *island* allow her?

See my initial thoughts here.

Initial Thoughts: The Little Prince

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I didn’t watch the pop ups again. I figure as much time as I spend blogging, maybe someone out there will be kind enough to share if there is something I miss???

1. Was it just my tv or was the sound “off” this week? Last week the color was weird and this week the sound was off. I’m hoping it’s just a technical glitch.

2. Why does Kate want to keep Aaron… possibly a surrogate in her heart for the losses she had. Her losses including Sawyer perhaps? I think Kate would feel a overall loss leaving behind her “friends” on the island, but a deeper sense of loss as she obviously had feelings for him that were pretty intense. I’m also wondering if she lost a baby in her past. She should have renamed him “Tom” and bought him a toy airplane.

3. Locke asks Sawyer if he does want Kate to come back. My question is why Sawyer wouldn’t also want to find the way OFF the island to GO and see her? Why would they want the six to come back? Why wouldn’t they want to leave and go be with them? That is what I’d be asking for, at least.4. I think it’s time that they show us where Rose and Bernard and anyone else left alive from the Losties have been. There seemed to be quite a few on the beach and now we are down to three Losties and three Freighter-ies. Seems like the three Losties are fine though and it’s the Freighter gang that’s getting the nose bleeds (and Juliet, but she’s not a Lostie).

5. Sayid is always fighting with someone. I suppose that Ben addresses them in the way they live, but wouldn’t Sayid wonder why these guys just shoot darts at him and don’t kill him?

6. I think that the scene where Kate is helping Claire deliver the baby is very moving to Sawyer because he misses her and remember how happy he was when he found out that she wasn’t pregnant by him. Lots of regret there, I’m sure.

7. The time jumps that they are having on the island seem more and more to be purposeful moments and not random at all. Like how you see your life flash before your eyes before you die or how the ghosts took Ebenezer Scrooge to poignant moments in his life. Locke hops back and tells Richard about this birth, setting up a chain of events to prove he’s special. Richard happens to be there when Locke is shot. Locke sees the light from the hatch which reminds him that he had to suffer to get where he is and therefore he doesn’t want to change any of the events that are happening.  Like Sawyer asks him if he wants to go and warn himself not to make stupid choices and Locke does not want to.
8. Saywer keeps mentioning that beer.

9.  Aija Airlines.  Another crash or could it be how the O6 get back to the island and we’re seeing after they get back.  Maybe we are seeing the Losties ON the island, in the future, AFTER the O6 get back.  Maybe the O6 are shooting at the Losites in the boat not realizing who they are shooting at.  Or…
10.  OTHER Others shooting at the Losties in the boat.  We haven’t seen Richard’s group for awhile plus I’ve thought all along there was another set of Others we haven’t been introduced to yet.
11.   Another Foreest Gump moment.  First Kate says they are going “on vacation” then Sawyer has a Leuitenant Dan moment thanking God for the rain.  Will Sayer end up having his Come To God moment too?  Anyone who’s seen the movie will understand.
12.   Jack must fix something.  Wants to fix Kate’s situation.

13.  That was Danielle’s group in the raft that finds Jin.  And YEAH! Jin is alive!  Another purposeful moment to skip to.
14.   Could Jin be floating in the water for two days and live?  Do we even know how long since the O6 left the island?  And what are they eating to stay alive?

15.   Looks like next week he tells her that Jin is alive but of course in true Ben fashion he’s going to somehow use Jin as bait to get her back to the island.  Now, about Hurley… since the only one truly OK with going back is Jack, he’s going to need to use something fantastic to get Hurley to agree.

16.  The Losties flash forward and find the camp.  Vincent’s collar is there.  Who has been living there with Vincent?  Wouldn’t Vincent be time flopping around with them?

5 X 03: Jughead

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Most of what I wanted to say, I said initially. I had to go back on Wednesday and watch again even though I was dead tired at work the next day. Probably in my top 10 favorite episodes.

1. The title “Jughead.” We know that the bomb was called “Jughead” but there has to be more significance. I still think that the leaking radiation has something to do with why women can’t carry babies to term. Maybe Dan, Charlotte and Miles are the last babies conceived on the island so they are special. Since we know that the island has healing qualities, we have wondered how Ben got a tumor on his spine. He was probably working too close to Jughead and was exposed to small quantities of the radiation. If Dan hadn’t have shown up and told them what to do with it, what would they have done with the bomb? Maybe all of this has happened before and Jughead represents a serious problem that could not have been fixed without Dan so all of the events must happen this way. And unless all of the events (starting with the plane crash) happened then the island may not have been been there.
jughead.jpg Click to enlarge

2. The American government is coming in 1954 to the island. Why do they want to kill the “Hostiles?” Couldn’t they have just rounded them up and put them in a prison camp? Are we sure it’s the government or perhaps ex military? Keemy and the gang looked to be military also but weren’t working for the government. Maybe it’s a “Hatfield and McCoy” scuffle that has been going on for hundreds of years and not just Ben Vs. Widmore.
bomb.jpg Click to enlarge

3. So it’s Oxford University and in the 10 – 20 years in between when Des met Dan on campus and now they haven’t cleaned up the office for other use? Or, did Dan *just* abandon the office right before he left for the island and it hasn’t been long enough to get it cleaned out? If that’s the case, there must have been an incredible offer to just leave all of his time travel research like that. Maybe *someone* convinced him to leave (like, say, Widmore)? From the state of the office I’d say he left in a big hurry.
fumigation.jpg Click to enlarge

4. Dan tells Miles and Charlotte that they just have to hang tight until everything disappears but can’t predict when. What if it’s every 108 minutes that they travel? I’m thinking that the numbers might come in play here as to how the time shift works.

5. Watching back, Juliet doesn’t know how far in the past they are so how does she know to ask if Richard is at the camp? I just don’t want to believe that he’s really, truthfully “very” old but how else would she know he’d be there?
juliet.jpg Click to enlarge

6. Locke can’t shoot “Jones” because he’s one of his people. Remember that Juliet was branded for killing Pickett (the guy who was going to kill Sawyer and Kate) so it must be against their rules to kill one of your own. Keemy also broke the rules when he killed Alex.

7. It does look like Teresa is the same girl that is in the picture, but the picture is old (check out Dan’s mullet). Dan doesn’t seem the type to leave someone behind that he cared for so again, something must have happened to make him just take off and then Widmore to take care of Teresa in his absence.
danandteresa.jpg theresa.jpg Click to enlarge

8. I can’t make up my mind about Ellie. Dan is walking with her and she tells him to quit looking at her to which he apologizes and tells her she looks just like someone he used to know. She does look like Teresa (see picture above) but it also could be because he realizes he’s talking to his mom.
ellie2.jpg Click to enlarge

9. Widmore was on the island as a young man (at least probably about age 18 if not younger). He probably thinks as well as he knows the island that he’s the one that’s going to take over as the leader. Then along comes Ben. Ben is groomed to be the leader. I’m guessing somewhere along the way Widmore is exiled from the island. Now he holds a grudge against Ben for that and because Widmore is obviously a hot head (breaking the neck of his colleague who tells Juliet where the camp is). But he hasn’t been to the island in at least 20 years so I wonder if at some point he had come back after his younger days as a solider. Perhaps he stayed for quite a while. Maybe Ellie was the love of Ben and Widmore and that had something to do with it (we know how Ben falls madly in love with women and wants them all to himself). I think this all speaks to where the rivalry between Ben and Widmore started for the island.

10.  I found this arrow theory from Doc Jensen very intriguing and something I had not caught:
My “Arrow” Theory. Adam mentioned this in his recap. Have you noticed the recurring arrow symbolism this season? Episode 1: Pierre Chang produces the orientation film for a Dharma station called “The Arrow.” Episode 2: The Left Behinders are attacked by flaming arrows. And now, Episode 3: Arrows everywhere, in the text (see: the Others’ archery brigade) and the subtext. A leaking or missing hydrogen bomb is known as a “Broken Arrow” event in military parlance.  In physics, the “Arrow of Time” is the name of a body of theories pertaining to the nature of time; the term “broken arrow” is used to characterize an idea like time loops. Google “broken arrow” and you’ll get any number of movies, TV shows and songs about Native Americans… and wouldn’t you know, “Jughead” was a peek into the past of the Island’s indigenous peeps, the Others. But the coolest arrow connection comes via the Other cutie with the shot gun, British accent, and terse line readings: Ellie. Short for Eleanor, which is French for “the Other.” (Or so wikipedia tells me; I don’t speak it. Me stupid American.) On a whim, I combined “Ellie” and “Eleanor” and “Arrow,” and came back with an awesome connection: Ellie Arroway, the heroine of Carl Sagan’s novel Contact, which was adapted into the Jodie Foster film of the same name. I’m going to leave it to you to explore the significance, but Sagan’s story certainly resonates with Lost themes, and perhaps functions as a clue to wormhole theory. Link to the whole article here

Initial Thoughts: Jughead

OMG!!!! Tonight was AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC!!!
A couple of thoughts from last week. Hurley and Kate *just* miss each other at the gas station. This goes along with the idea of the show that everyone is connected somehow, like six degrees of separation. Or I saw a movie once and the whole time it followed an item as it got passed from person to person. I think it was Madonna’s pap smear but don’t quote me. Anyway, how we are all connected somehow.

I don’t really like the pop ups. Maybe I’m missing stuff, you tell me if you watch them. But it’s like ABC’s attempt to get new viewers up to speed. To me, I feel cheated somehow that newbs are getting catch ups and we’ve had to do four years of hard work. But, if it brings new viewers and ratings then that’s a good thing.

Ben helped Jack overcome his Oxy habit. Locke helped Charlie kick his heroin habit. I think Ben actually cares somewhat for Jack. Yes, I know he has other reasons for him to be sober, but coupled with his defense of Jack to Jill, I think he cares. Some.

1. Let’s just start but talking about how freaking cute Desmond’s son is. Wow!

2. Desmond talking to his son about the island, Great Britain, like it was “the” island was interesting. There are mountains and glens and monsters… And is he foreshadowing saying he’ll be there again?

3. They sure are killing a bunch of the extras off. Economy is bad, must save money somewhere I guess.

4. Was it just me, or were the colors weird in tonight’s episode? I’m hoping it’s just because of the film they used and not supposed to resemble something with time.

5. Here is my sister’s theory (and some embellishments by me). Penny has the baby, Charlie. Could this be our Charlie? When Des is on the island “seeing” Charlie die, it’s not because he sees the future but because he’s lived it already. Charlie could have been raised by the parents we saw initially because they had to “hide” him from Ben or maybe Widmore Sr. wanted to get his hands on him.

6. Or, they just named him after our Charlie.

7. Penny sure is a downer. “Also where he broke her (Penny) heart.” and “You forgot to tell him about his grandfather.”

8. Why are there government soldiers invading the island? Somehow, Richard’s people manage to eliminate them. Then they figure out how to “move” the island so that they can’t get back.

9. Jughead. The bomb. Must be buried in the hatch (what used to be the hatch). Remember that Sayid talks about the concrete wall down in the hatch and how thick it was. And that it was magnetic.

10. So the blonde woman that has Dan under the gun and takes him to the bomb is the same as “Teresa Spencer” the woman in the “coma” back in London. She must be the “poor woman” that the guy who finds Des in Dan’s old office is referring to.

11. Does Penny know more than she let’s on? Why does she make him promise never to go back to the island? I understand that she had a terrible time finding him, but as long as they are together why would she be so dead set against it? Maybe she knows things about the island in her research to find Des.

12. And, the government was trying to bomb the island? Why? What do they know?

13. I love that Juliet calls the soldiers “Others.” Like the writers are saying “Yes, we know you call them that,” and that is how they get the point across to us who they are.

14. Apparently these are also the “Others” that kill off the Dharma Initiative.

15. “Four” US soldiers. There is one of our numbers.

16. Juliet says, “Richard has always been here,” assuming she means the camp. But the camp looks like where they end up building “Otherville.”

17. Interesting that they took Dan out of the system showing he was a professor.

18. What I don’t understand is that if Dan’s work was to be kept secret, why did they leave all of his equipment (beside the fact that Des has to find it in the storyline). And what’s up with the mystery “janitor” that happens in and gives Des a little bit of information. And why is the janitor dressed so old fashioned? Does anyone besides Brad Pitt wear those hats these days? And who else was poking around for Dan’s work?

19. Looks like “Ellie,” the girl that has Dan at gunpoint, is the girl who is in the “coma” back at Oxford. oops, I already said that. Must be tired.

20. Dan knows the bomb is unstable because it was probably what was behind the wall when Marvin Candle’s group was drilling there.

21. Glad Sawyer got some good lines this week. “Well, maybe I should have said it in my secret language.”

22. So Locke owns this island my friends. The Losties are his people and The Others are his people. All your base belongs to…. Locke!

23. Teresa is traveling big time. It reminds me of the Matrix when they have them in the pods, feeding them, and their minds live in the “world.” I’m sure Mr Widmore was so kind to pay for Teresa’s care so no one found out about her. If she’s seeing her dead dad then she’s definitely traveling around.

24. Widmore has to be Dan’s dad. Could be Richard but more than likely Widmore. Explains why he funded his research (beyond interest in the topic). Age is appropriate.

25. Yeah, some “sodding” old man knows the island better than you Jones!

26. Richard is “old” but by what standard? I watched Aeon Flux this past weekend and it got me thinking. In the movie, the women can’t have children so until they figure out the problem, they clone children from their own DNA. Then the “leaders” teach the cloned child of themselves all about their lives and give them their memories. So in essence it seems like they have years and years of memories. Maybe Richard is a clone. Does it make more sense that he doesn’t age? Or is he just an aberration created by the smoke monster (like Yemmi or Christian)?

27. So if the blonde holding Dan at gunpoint isn’t Teresa, could she be Mrs Hawkins? Still thinking she’s his mother, too. She knows the island. She must be smart is some capacity to be chosen to be on the island. Why she wants to get back to the island. How she knows about the island.

28. Desmond, Desmond. What are you thinking going to Widmore? Like the guy was just going to tell him what he wanted to know with no strings. Widmore is so good that I wanted to believe that he was genuinely pooping himself when he saw Des but he probably already knew he was off the island and left him alone so as to not lead Ben to Penny. I do believe that Widmore wants Des to hide because Penny won’t leave him and Ben really would like to retaliate and kill Widmore’s daughter.

29. And I love Locke just marching into the camp. And how *did* Richard know when he would see Locke again unless Richard already has the memories when he meets up with Locke so he knows the next time we’ll see him.

30. I think that Widmore came to see Penny on the boat. That’s how she knows that Desmond is lying. Plus she just seems to be hiding something.

31. Now we know why Richard went and saw Locke in the hospital.

32. Maybe I’m tired but it looks like the coloring goes back to normal after they leave the “past.”

33. KATE visits the island next week! Ben must show her how to “travel” like Walt did back to the island. Man, ANOTHER good week to come!

34. And it sounds like Claire is screaming.

5 X 02: The Lie

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Could Jacob be Alvar Hanso? I was thinking about the way we saw him the first time from the window, turned sideways. I know this doesn’t really pertain to this episode, but in trying to make links between old and new information this possibility came to mind.
alvarhanso2.jpg alvarhanso.jpg jacobeye.jpg jacob2.jpg Click to enlarge

1. I was also thinking back to some unsolved issues. Like the cages that Sawyer and Kate were in – I know they were for the animals, but what were they doing with the animals and why? And the landing strip that Kate and Sawyer were helping to clear rocks for – another plane coming to the island? Is this where the O6 will land, conveniently, when they come back? Kate’s airplane – did she forget about it? She robbed a bank to recover so why wouldn’t she be obsessing if she hadn’t taken it home with her? Will we ever see Libby’s connection to Hurley in the institution? There are so many for them to wrap up!

2. I was also thinking back to when Ben was looking at those dolls that Annie had made for him and Richard comes in. Ben asks something to the effect of “You remember birthdays, don’t you Richard?” Has Richard harnessed the healing power of the island to also maintain his youth? I like sci-fi and I’ll buy into the time travel, but never aging is going to be a hard sell to me.

3. I have more thoughts but I think I’ll save them for the next post after the recap.

4. So the O6 has been off of the island for 3 years. I can’t imagine that the Losties are going to have to suffer for three years with time moving. Remember that Walt had amazing growth and the writers promised they would explain why. Well, if Walt was off the island for years he would have grown quite a bit. But, if that same time frame was island time it would have only seemed like days. So time off the island is moving much faster than on the island. The O6 come back after 3 years but the Losties only think they’ve been gone a few days to a week.

5. Hurley tells Sayid that someday he’ll need his help but he won’t get it. But Hurley goes through great lengths to help him back home. Change of heart or foreshadowing?
hurley1.jpg   Click to enlarge
6. Ana Lucia tells Hurley not to get arrested. Hurley purposely gets arrested to avoid Ben. I guess we’ll see what kind of ramifications that decision has.
analucia.jpg   Click to enlarge
7. Must pay homage to the shirt.
shirt.jpg   Click to enlarge
8. Sun is up to something. It’s too convenient that she was in such a hurry to make her plane and then right after Kate goes on the run, Sun shows up! Does she blame Kate somehow for Jin’s death? Is she really trying to help Kate or is she setting her up for some future purpose?

9. Ben’s secret box. Reminds me of when Miles visited the lady whose spirit he talked to, he took something out of the air vent also (but I think his was money). Why was it in the vent – someone must have placed it there before Ben showed up.
benbox.jpg   Click to enlarge
10. Ben tells Jack that he’s never coming back once they return to the island. Is Jack really OK with this? I guess outside of his mother we haven’t seen that he has anything left to live for at home but wouldn’t Jack be looking for ways that he could bring them all back home? Jack seems too heroic to just accept that they will all live happily ever after on the island, which makes me think he’s got his own plan. After all, we don’t know what he planned with Juliet before they left.

11. I’m not convinced that anyone is really out to kill Hurley and Sayid. I think they were hired by Ben to scare them and send them right into his trap for the O6 to get them to agree to go back to the island.

12. Jill tells Ben that Gabriel and Jeffrey have already checked in. The flight crew perhaps? Ben then goes on to defend Jack and his drug abuse. Wow, a little empathy from Ben. Not sure outside of his daughter we’ve seen Ben express true feelings (of kindness, at least).

13. Vincent! The one character the writers have promised will live to the end. But with Vincent, there always comes trouble and sure enough, flaming arrows coming their way.
vincent.jpg   Click to enlarge
14. That was some crazy arrow shooting at the Losites. The Others were violent but not like this. Had to be the hostiles and my guess would be it was from the distant past. I wonder if the dead Losties bodies will time travel or since they died in that time then they will stay there?

15. “Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?” Hurley has the best family!
hurleymom.jpg   Click to enlarge
16. Sun really is not the person we thought she was. I think back to The Glass Ballerina and that Sun blamed the maid for breaking the figurine knowing that she would lose her job. I don’t know if she really expects Kate to kill the attorneys, but she wants her to “take care of them.”

17. Watching the scene again where Hurley tells him mom the whole truth about the plane and the survivors makes me question how more of the actors on this show don’t get Emmy or other award nominations. I’ve watched a lot of the other shows that get nominated and most of them don’t sustain the believability or momentum that Lost has. I watch Jorge and Jeremy Davies and they are so great in this show. Yes, a few of the actors have been nominated (and won, yeah!) but not enough in my opinion.

18. NOW we see hostiles! Wow, cutting off her hand “just because.” And dang it Sawyer, take their shoes!!!
hostiles.jpg   Click to enlarge
19. Loving the hot pocket thrown at Ben. That thing was hot too, that could have hurt!
hotpocket.jpg   Click to enlarge
20. The cloak and dagger outfit was a little silly here. But the dichotomy between the science and faith was interesting (science in the basement, faith upstairs). Mrs Hawkins comes across as a leader in the way she speaks to Ben and he reacts.
clock.jpg   Click to enlarge
