Summer Projects

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

While I’m at home drinking iced tea under the shade of a tree (while my pool boy fans me)… see what the cast of Lost has been up to this summer.

Dominic Monaghan (how cool is this!):
X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.

Jorge Garcia (I think this one sounds very interesting):
Seymour’s Last Rule. Seymour’s Last Rule traces the journey of a drug addicted but functional trauma nurse, Robbie McIntyre, whose motivation to confront inner turmoil is precipitated by an unlikely source: a 400-pound patient, Seymour Holmes, who is near death after an apparent accident. Robbie’s ‘do-not-disturb’ life crumbles when she is forced to care for Seymour, who has been the recipient of every form of ridicule but has never indulged in self-pity. These two unlikely characters have a lot more in common than is initially apparent, and illustrate that life - when judged through the shroud of assumption and preconception - is seldom what it seems.

Naveen Andrews (Sayid):
Animals. Syd Jarrett (Marc Blucas) is an unsuspecting, down-and-out man in a washed-up hick town whose life is turned upside down when the drop-dead gorgeous Nora (Nicki Aycox) walks through the door of the local bar. Jarrett’s passion for Nora leads him peripherally into a sub-culture of animals where he encounters Vic (Naveen Andrews), a renegade whose animal instincts are stronger than his human ones. As things begin to get even worse, Jarrett realizes that his best chance for happiness, and survival, lies in his true love for Jane (Eva Amurri).

Daniel Dae Kim:
The Andromeda Strain. Made for TV (USA). When a satellite crashes near the remote Utah town of Piedmont, it becomes apparent that it may be carrying a deadly virus. All but two of the town’s inhabitants, a baby and a Sterno drinker, are dead. Working in a secret government laboratory deep underground, Dr. Jeremy Stone leads a team of scientists who try to identify the virus and develop a means of stopping its spread. Several others, including the military and other senior government officials, have their own agendas however leading to the spread of misinformation about the origin of the virus.

Michael Emerson (I wondered why he was working instead of home with his wife, then I realized his wife stars in this movie):
Ready, OK? In this poignant comedy, a single Mom struggles to understand her young son’s obsession with dresses, dolls and girls’ cheer-leading. With the recent death of her absent father, her wayward brother returns home, compelling them all to face themselves and what it truly means to be a “family”

Henry Ian Cusick
Dead Like Me. After the departure of Rube Sofer, a new head reaper named Cameron Kane takes over. He’s a slick businessman who couldn’t care less about helping the newly dead. Chaos ensues and brings out the worst in Daisy and Mason who begin drinking anew. George and Reggie re-connect for the first time when George reaps a new friend of Reggie’s.
Harold Perrineau (you can tell who has some free time):
Your Name Here. The lines between reality and perception blur in this comic journey into the life and mind (literally!) of one of sci-fi’s most brilliant authors. Paranoid conspiracies of the highest order, drug-fueled interdimensional shifts, and 1970’s pop culture combine for the mind-bending adventure of the century.

Felon. A loving family man with a promising future loses everything when he accidentally kills the burglar who broke into his home. Covicted of involuntary manslaughter, he is sentence to spend the next three years inside a maximum security facility where the rules of society no longer apply.
Emile de Ravin. This girl has been busy! Two movies coming out in 2008 and one being filmed now for 2009 release. I’m guessing she has the time as her role on Lost has been let’s say “cut back.”

The Perfect Game. Based on a true story. In 1957 a rag-tag, shoeless, poor group of kids from Monterrey, Mexico shocked the world by winning 13 games in a row and the Little League World Series in the only perfect game ever pitched in the Championship. These kids, led by their priest and a down-and-out former major leaguer embark on a journey through the southern US and up into Williamsport, PA for the Championship game. They encountered many adversities including nearly being deported and the bigotry that wouldn’t allow them into certain restaurants or travel on certain buses. They never lost their faith and eventually captured the hearts of both nations. This is a heart-warming inspirational story in the tradition of “Rudy”, “Hoosiers”, “Coach Carter” or “Friday Night Lights”

Ball Don’t Lie. An urban coming-of-age tale about a young streetballer who struggles with his past as he faces an uncertain future.

Yunjin Kim:
Two Sisters. Made for TV movie, a light-hearted family comedy co-starring Margaret Cho.

Evangeline Lilly:
Afterwards. Nathan Del Amico, a brilliant New York lawyer who leads a life of professional success, but his private life is pretty dismal since he divorced Mallory, his only love. Until he meets Garrett Goodrich, a mysterious doctor who introduces himself as a “messenger.” He claims that he can sense when certain people are about to die, and that he is sent to help them put their life in order before it’s too late. Nathan doesn’t believe a word of this, but soon afterwards he witnesses some disconcerting scenes which seem to confirm the doctor’s claims.

Let’s not talk about what Matthew Fox has to promote:

This Is Sad

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I was snooping around the internet and came across this photo from the 2006 Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Looks like the island has about a 70% death rate.  One note, out of the nine that are *dead* four had drunk driving charges at some point while on the show.   Don’t drink and drive kids!

4 X 13 & 14: There’s No Place Like Home

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The only thing missing was the ruby slippers. I like the irony of the title, though. On one hand, the Oceanic Six are home. On the other, the island became their home.
wizard_of_oz_ruby_red_slippers.jpg Click to enlarge

1. Here’s a link back to the original translation of the newspaper article Jack is carrying around with the obit from Jeremy Bentham. What I find the most interesting is that it states that Bentham is survived by a teenage son. Holy crap this is going to get good!

2. What is Locke going to possibly come to the Oceanic Six and say that convinces Jack of all people that they have to go back. Going back is the only way to keep Aaron and Kate safe.

3. The only reason I can come up with for having Michael die such a dramatic death is that the fans were hungry for Michael to pay the price for what he had done to the other Losties. I let it go last season and had moved on to new people to want to see dead - like Keemy. Maybe there was more plot development that just couldn’t happen because of the writer’s strike. I still would have like to have seen a Micheal and Walt “happy” ending though. Walt has lost both parents now, not cool.
c42.jpg Click to enlarge

4. I’m glad, however, that Desmond didn’t suddenly have powers of bomb disposal. I like that he said he learned just enough to blow himself up.

5. Keemy asks Ben the question of the season - why is Ben so important? Why does Widmore want Ben back alive?
keemy2.jpg Click to enlarge

6. So you have top military trained men (Keemy’s people) that are there to take Ben away. They split up into the weeds to try and find the Others that are there to save Ben and the Others overpower Keemy’s men? Wow, I would think that the Others must have had some serious military training to pull that off. Sure, they have the advantage of being natives to the island, but they come bearing electrical darts vs. machine guns. Impressive. (OK, they had some guns, but still…)
7. Here’s my suggestion to the Others. When you are trying to sneak up on armed military men, don’t sound out the whispers, it kind of gives you away.

8. I guess I shouldn’t laugh but when Keemy kicks the grenade over to his buddy, duh!

9. Sayid kicked some butt! Keemy was smart, however, that he played dead and then went to the one place he knew Ben would go.
sayid2.jpg Click to enlarge

10. I can tell you why none of the O6 went to see Walt - no one wanted to tell him that Michael was dead. Locke was always straight up with him, though, so I’ll be interested to see that conversation.

11. I don’t understand why Locke insisted to speak with Jack without Sawyer and Hurley present. Men are so dramtic (lol).
binoculars2.jpg Click to enlarge

12. Interesting that the crackers that Ben dug up aren’t stale. Sawyer even eats one. Meaningless? Why wouldn’t the crackers be stale after all those years? Tupperware ought to look into the technology of the tin those crackers were in.
13. Random shot that I thought was pretty cool.
locke2psd.jpg Click to enlarge

14. Here you go SKID … a last look at Dan and his tie. I think we’ll be seeing this guy again and will he still be wearing a tie?
dantie2.jpg Click to enlarge

15. I wasn’t crazy about the obvious set up for next season to find out why Charlotte wanted to “get back” to the island. I like my set-ups to be much more subtle. They either need to make her story very fascinating or I’m just going to have to campaign to kill her off the show. I think there are still some of those scary petrifying spiders running around! Could she be Annie? Not sure that I really care right now. I’m more interested to see Miles chatting with Jacob or find out how Dan gets rescued.

16. More random shots. I love the way the light hits Locke.
benlocke2.jpg Click to enlarge lockelight2.jpg

17. This was one squeaky elevator ride. Not sure I’d want to be on that one.
18. The Orchid was built for experiments with space and time. The bunny was going to be shifted 100 milliseconds forward in time. I’m thinking that’s how the move the whole island. It’s always ahead in time.

19. Was anyone else thinking about Jeff Goldblum in The Fly when they saw the pod? Hope Ben didn’t travel with any insects!
pod.jpg thefly.jpg Click to enlarge

20. Halliwax = Dr Crandel. Why did he have a winter coat there (the one Ben travels in)? Where is he? Was he Ben’s predecessor?
crandel2.jpg Click to enlarge

21. Sawyer whispers to Kate, “I have a daughter in Alabama. You need to find her. Tell her I’m sorry.” I will post an enhanced video but not in this one (it’s long enough as it is).
sawyerwhisper2.jpg Click to enlarge

22. “Checkmate Mr Eko.” This shot was very Jacob-in-the-cabin-like.
chair2.jpg Click to enlarge

23. I wonder where Sayid can take Hurley that is safe. Hurley must know some about Sayid’s lifestyle because he’s not surprised to see him carrying a gun or that he just killed a man outside the hospital.

24. That’s awfully nice of “the island” to let Michael go now, but could the island really have saved him from 500 pounds of c4? Any have you noticed that the neat, clean cut Christian appears here? And of course the whispers.
christian2.jpg Click to enlarge

25. Is he or isn’t he? We can see the last place Jin was standing then where the bomb tears apart the boat. I think there is still the possibility he made it although, not sure he was close enough to the island to be there when it ‘moved.”
jin2.jpg bomb2.jpg click to enlarge

26. Sun says several interesting things to Widmore. She tells him that they have “common interests.” She also states “As you know, we were not the only ones who left the island.” I think she means Ben. I truly doubt she’s referring to Desmond as he is her friend. I agree that her intent coming to Widmore wasn’t to help him, but rather she is going to use him in her revenge plot.

27. OK this really sucks for Sawyer. He sacrificed himself to save Kate and Hurely and now he thinks they blew up on the boat. They had just softened him up and now this. Yeah, I think there are some dark days ahead for Sawyer.
sawyer2.jpg Click to enlarge

28. There are hieroglyphics all over this island. As long as we don’t have any more *ahem* interruptions we may actually get to see their meaning (along with the four toed statue). Remember that there were hieroglyphs on the counter in the original hatch that have never been explained either.
hyroglyps.jpg Click to enlarge

29. Instead of looking at the meaning behind the imagery, I’m wonder about the technology of how moving this wheel moves them in time. It’s like they took the energy of the hatch and somehow control it with this wheel. Maybe the more they move it the more the island moves?
benmoveisland2.jpg Click to enlarge

30. The sky is turning purple again. Just like when the hatch imploded.
island2.jpg Click to enlarge

31. Now you see it, now you don’t! I hope that Dan was close enough to go with it but I have a feeling they are going to need him *off* the island as he is the one who originally figured out the coordinates to get there. Then they’ll have a big Dan and Charlotte reunion. Yeah, there is a ripple but it’s pretty small for an island to have physically have gone somewhere. And it doesn’t last very long either. My vote is on some time shift.
islandgone2.jpg Click to enlarge

32. Another crash that they all survived. Guess it’s not their time to go yet.

33. Here is one of the scenes where the color is all wonky. Is it just bad production?
jackcolor1.jpg Click to enlarge

34. What Kate hears on the phone is a series of clicks and then that crazy backwards talking. But, and I’ll get it posted soon, played forward it says, ” The island needs you. You have to go back before it’s too late.” I think it also sounds like Locke’s voice.
katephone2.jpg Click to enlarge

35. Nice white rabbit and conveniently right before Claire shows her face.
rabbit1.jpg Click to enlarge

36. Is it just me or does Aaron sleep a lot? I don’t remember my 3 - 4 year old sleeping that much.

37. Hurley asks Kate (on the raft) if Aaron is ok and she says yes, that it’s a miracle. Jack had just told Locke he doesn’t believe in miracles. Irony. Aaron is definitely special to live through what he has just like Locke was a miracle baby.

38. Now this is a love story! I’m glad that we didn’t have to wait until the last season wondering if they would meet up again. There should still be a lot of story to tell but now we can go on to other story lines. Still, a great, great scene.
pennydesmond1.jpg Click to enlarge

39. We still haven’t found out why Naomi was carrying that picture of Desmond and Penny. There was no reason for Widmore at the time to think Desmond could protect her so will we find out her motive? It had to be from Penny because if Widmore had her looking for him wouldn’t she just be carrying a picture of Desmond and not a sentimental photo of the two together?

40. Frank has been on the yacht for a week yet he still looks this grungy. We’re not done with this guy yet. He knows too much. I’m sure he’ll be important in getting them back when the time comes.
frank1.jpg Click to enlarge

41. On an aside, I’ve been thinking, won’t Sun be of great interest since she conceived on the island? She wouldn’t have lived if she had stayed but won’t they want to know about the baby?

42. Jack says to Ben that Locke told him some very bad things had happened on the island since he left and they were his fault. Not that I want to see bad things happen back on the island, but this is great set up for seasons to come. What bad things, to who, how is it Jack’s fault and how can he fix it?

43. Jack agrees in the last scene that he needs to go back to the island. What are they going to do with Locke until they can get there?

44. So when we see flashes (what will they be now, flash backs again?) if Locke is back on the mainland will he be back in the wheelchair? The island didn’t necessarily heal him and it could just be he can walk while he’s there.
45. Desmond is Dan’s constant. If Dan is still around won’t he have to find Desmond? Jack warns Desmond not to let *them* find him which makes me think he’ll somewhat be in hiding.

46. Walt’s going to have some Daddy issues now with Michael gone (if he heads back to the island). Walt should do well though because Locke taught him some mad knife skills when he was little.

So, with this all said I bid goodbye to Season 4. I’ll be around this summer so keep checking back and leaving comments.

Initial Thoughts: There’s No Place Like Home (Pt 2)

*Sniffle*

I proclaim that this episode was hands down my favorite episode of the entire show… of any season… the best.

(If you haven’t watched then don’t read on. Lots of major reveals in this episode)

The bittersweet season ending to, dare I say, the best (and shortest) season since Lost premiered. Sweet because we finally got to see it, bitter because here comes seven loooooong months of waiting.

1. After two hours it was hard to find the place to start. I feel more moved than most movies that I see in the theater. This one I’ll need to see again… and maybe one more time after that. :)

2. Desmond and Penny! Yes! The kiss that was Carlton Cuse’s favorite scene of the show. I wondered… when I saw the Kate/Sawyer kiss it was nice but not time stopping. But YES! When Penny and Des see each other! Wow, spectacular! I was hoping so much that they wouldn’t kill off Des and Frank. AND I think that Frank has to survive because he knows about the island and the other Losties and… he can fly a plane. He’ll be back.

3. Confirmed - Jin is dead. Yunjin Kim was amazing in that scene. I can see why Sun would blame Jack for his death. I would too. That totally sucked but on the other hand maybe none of them would have lived had Frank not taken the chopper away. But, I could also see how they could explain that he makes it off the boat, gets on the raft with Dan and somehow survives. Damn it! Not sure again!

4. Locke is Jeremy Bentham. That sucks in so many ways. But we know that we’re not done with him, especially if he comes and talks to Jack and Kate. He’s the new Ben on the island. Plus we have to see why it is that Locke is the one that can keep the Losties back home safe and with him dead why they are now in danger.

5. For me, this was the episode of sacrifices. Jin for Sun. Michael “tried” to save Jin. Sawyer jumped for Kate. Sayid risked his life to come and take Hurley somewhere safe. Ben not willing to sacrifice anything for the people on the boat yet sacrifices his life on the island to save the island.

6. I found it very intense when Jack and Locke first meet at the Orchid. Another Emmy moment for (Jack) Matthew?

7. The whispers were loud tonight. They have to be connected with the Others because right after Kate shows up at the helicopter to help Ben escape, before the Others rescue him, you can hear the whispers.

8. We got to see the Others using the magic darts again. This time, though, they were electrified. Cool toys!

9. OK, was the fight scene between Keemy and Sayid the coolest or what? My heart was racing! Naveen Andrews has to be thrilled with the direction and the scenes that Sayid was in this year.

10. Darlton said that we’d see Walt again and the growth would be explained. Guess they were telling the truth. I’m going to be interested to see if he’s brought back to the show regularly.

11. I guess Locke’s prophecy about Jack’s life back on land was correct. The lies are eating him from the inside out.

12. I chuckled when Ben told Locke to watch this “very informative video.”

13. Will need to get a better listen to all the time movement stuff that Ben tells Locke.

14. Now I have to go back and watch Ben’s episode where he wakes up in the middle of the desert. I guess now we know why Charlotte found the bear in the middle of the desert. It also sounds like she was born there. Now we’ll get to see their flashbacks since Charlotte and Miles are stuck on the island. And where is DAN!!!??? He’s a smart guy, surely he can figure how to get them somewhere. Maybe he planned for this somewhere in his book? They can’t just leave him floating to certain death.

15. I love that Hurley is seeing all sorts of dead people now. Does he have a gift like Miles and just chalks it up to being crazy?

16. Sawyer’s character has just changed so much as we see from him jumping from the helicopter that I’m going to be excited to see where they take him over the next two seasons.

17. OK so why would Locke’s death be staged to look like a suicide? Again, this is going to be so interesting to see play out over the next two years. There cannot be another writer’s strike.

18. Michael hears the whispers right before Christian shows up on the boat. Guess we know that he is really dead.

19. Sun is helping Widmore? There must be more of Ben that we’re going to see as well.

20. Ben doesn’t sacrifice his life on the island without having a plan. Then I think he knows the only way he can get back is with the 6 Losties so he manipulates them to get back. He always has a plan.

21. So when Ben “moves the island” does it not look remarkably like when the hatch imploded?

22. The helicopter crash would have to be so traumatic considering this was their second plane crash. No wonder Hurley went off his rocker.

23. Was it just me or did the shot of Jack when he first gets on the raft look really weird? It was either a terrible production problem or something odd happened there.

24. Back to Walt, why would his grandma agree to bring him halfway across the country to see Hurley? What went on in that conversation?

25. Kate sees Claire. I’ve read the thought that Claire died when Keemy and the gang blew up her house. That is why she woke up without a scratch from being blown up. That is why Miles could see her walk off in the jungle. That is why Miles couldn’t stop her from wandering off and why she couldn’t take Aaron with her … and why she was in the cabin with Christian/Jacob. So, now Kate is seeing dead people.

26. Was it just me or when the raft is found by Penny’s boat were you expecting to see Mr Friendly appear and say, “We’re gonna have to take the boy?”

27. Speaking of the boy, remember that Locke as a baby was some sort of miracle because he survived all sorts of illnesses and what not? Now Aaron survives two crashes, being kidnapped, being on an island for months and he’s healthy as a horse? Is he the next Locke?

28. Since Desmond has now found Penny I’m sure he’s going to have to seriously protect her from Ben.

29. What types of terrible things is Locke referring to that happened after the Oceanic Six left the island?

30. And now we’ve been set up for the next two years.

31. More to come, really need to go get some screencaps!

4 X 12: There’s No Place Like Home (Pt1)

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

What a pickle. On one hand, I want the second part of the finale NOW! On the other, I don’t want the season to end so that we face another looooong hiatus.

1. You would think that “Miss Decker” would be sitting with the Losties talking to them, soothing them, asking questions. But she’s sitting in front with the pilots. I’d be sitting with them.

2. When Miss Decker first comes to the back of the plane she looks of the screen right and smiles at someone in acknowledgment. Then she comes forward to the Losties. Who is she acknowledging? It’s not the Losites.
missdecker1.jpg Click to enlarge

3. It looks like Creepy Eyed Man. My copy isn’t very high res but it looks like him and he’s sitting in a very creepy Jacob-in-the-cabin way. On the other hand, if it was him then wouldn’t Hurley have recognized him when he visited him in the asylum?
cargohold1.jpg cargohold2_1.jpg Click to enlarge

4. A couple of things on when the back of the plane opens. I thought that this was the *eye opening* of this episode. Same symbolism. The other thing that popped into my head was that it, for some reason, put me in mind of Close Encounters of The Third Kind. Like aliens coming out of the mothership. I bet you would feel like an alien coming back home after what they have been through.
backofplaneopen1.jpg Click to enlarge

5. “… I promised those people that I would get them off of this island.” He’ll never rest back home until he makes that happen.
jackspromise1.jpg Click to enlarge

6. Here are some shots of Dan’s book with a sketch of the Orchid. I think he knows that they have to get off the island because when it moves his coordinates will no longer work and they will be stuck there. I’m curious though how Dan knew about the secondary protocol. Up until this point he didn’t seem to be in the know this much. I bet they get stuck there and will be part of the next two seasons. Maybe he’ll finally take the tie off (SKID).
dansbook2_1.jpg dansbook3_1.jpg dansbook4_1.jpg Click to enlarge

7. I’m sure there are some anagrams in the names of the locations.

8. Wow, that story that Oceanic is telling is a whopper. But, wouldn’t the “real” story be even more unbelievable? A typhoon kicks up the supplies from a fishing boat complete with basic supplies and a raft. Incredible. Apparently it must have had a change of clothes, too, if we are to believe this story since none of them of wearing what they had on while on the plane. And how in the world does Kate explain getting out of the handcuffs in time to jump off of the plane with the others?
washedashore1.jpg Click to enlarge

9. I think that Sayid and the other survivors have to lie about the others being alive. I think that they are under the impression that they are protecting them, that if the world at large knew about the island and the other survivors then the “bad guys” who tried to kill them in the first place would be out searching for the island and thus putting their friends in danger.

10. According to Ben, moving the island is both dangerous and unpredictable. I’m thinking the last time they did this it was the “incident” that has been discussed before.

11. Love, love, LOVE the banter between Ben and Hurley. Watch it again if you can. It’s awesome. How intimidating it would be to be Jorge Garcia there between two Emmy winning actors but he held his own!

12. I wonder if any of the supplies in the box will be of use later? I wonder what the original use was? Why crackers? To ease an upset stomach (as Kate would say). And what is the significance of 15 years? So many mysteries to this box. I wonder if Ben’s last use was right after he killed off the Dharma Initiative.
box2_1.jpg Click to enlarge

13. Look in the background. It’s the frame of the church that Eko and Charlie were building. Seems so long ago. Think of everything that has happened since then. Think of everything yet to come.
frame1.jpg Click to enlarge

14. The big takeover of Sun’s father’s company was done through five different banks. Could each of the survivors (minus Aaron) have been in on it? Will we see his connection to the Oceanic crash that perhaps Sun knows about?
sun1.jpg Click to enlarge

15. When Hurley is walking in his house it was a pretty dirty trick they did to us by letting us hear whispers. Of course, you are thinking it’s an island thing when it’s actually his family and friends.

16. I like that they brought the numbers back. It was like the writers way of saying, “Hey, we haven’t forgotten about you.” That they are telling us that they know we want more answers for questions that have been around awhile.
odometer1.jpg Click to enlarge

17. At some point Hurley must decide that the car is OK. Remember that he is driving it in the opening scene of the season.

18. “Hello Michael. What ‘cha been up to?”
jinsun1.jpg Click to enlarge

19. Is it just me or when Jack and Sawyer come up on Frank as he’s working on the helicopter, does all the banging and cursing remind you of the scene from “A Christmas Story” when the dad is working on the furnace? I’m just saying…

20. Frank and Sawyer. A match up I would love to see more of. Frank could give it right back to Sawyer I’m sure. I wonder what kinds of nicknames Frank would dream up for Sawyer. Sayer came up with one for Frank right away, “Shaggy.”
franksawyer1.jpg Click to enlarge

21. So Claire’s mom came out of the coma? She even says that she was in the hospital when he came to find Claire. She looks pretty darned good for being in a coma for years and just recently waking up. Can we assume that there was something else that woke her up? Maybe some of the same healing *magic* that was used on Juliet’s sister? If they want Jack to go back to the island, finding out Claire is his sister is probably a good way to do it. I don’t think that anyone is fooled into thinking that Aaron is really Kate’s baby.
clairemom1.jpg Click to enlarge

22. I’m sensing an Emmy for Matthew Fox this year and this scene ought to do it for him.
jackshocked1.jpg Click to enlarge

23. Is it too farfetched to think that there are “two” Richard’s on the island? What else would explain why he and The Others are back in their island clothes rather than their regular clothes? Could there be twins? Every season it seems we are introduced to new sets of “Others” and we might get to see that there are other “Others” yet. Why would Ben want Richard to capture Kate and Sawyer? So many whys.

24.  Red flowers again.

25.  I was going to put this in a seperate post but if you made it to the end of this one here is a little piece of info for the season ender.  As much as I hate it…

Initial Thoughts: There’s No Place Like Home (Pt 1)

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Can the season be ending already? I’ve read that *that singing show over on Fox* isn’t doing so well in the ratings this year so maybe if it doesn’t come back next year we can get an earlier time again and get back to Wednesdays. Although, I kind of like it on Thursday - gives me reason to stand around and talk on Friday at work bond on Fridays with my friends.

1. Wow. That scene where the back of the plane opens and they go to their families was very touching. It was such a mix of emotions because there were only six of them (and they know their friends are still stranded on that island) and they all know that they cannot tell the true story.

2. I had a huge lump in my throat watching them reunite with their families. And the looks on Sayid and Kate’s faces…. heartbreaking. No family there waiting for them. Kate had to be panicked wondering if they were going to arrest her and take Aaron.

3. Then to follow with Jack back on the island sacrificing himself for the promise to save his friends.

4. Sun says that her husband was not one of the 8 that made it (then 2 died) on the island. The good news: Jin is alive back on the real island. The bad news: two Losties are dead that we haven’t seen the demise of yet. Ugh. Hopefully it can be two characters we don’t really know. After Charlie I’m done with main character deaths for this season.

5. … and who are the “two” responsible for Jin’s death? Her dad is one of them.

6. The press conference was very interesting. I could just feel that each and every one of the six, er, five was totally uncomfortable talking about the crash, etc. Excellent job by the actors.

7. I was a cry baby tonight. When Sayid found out Nadia was there! Ugh!

8. Go Sun! She grew some major cahones while on the island. Hopefully….. Jin IS alive back on the island and will someday make it back to see what she has done.

9. Hurley’s mom just delivered what may very well be the best line of the entire season. ” Jesus Christ is not a weapon.” lmao

10. Yeah! The numbers are back! A break was nice, but it was almost nostalgic to see the numbers again and all together too!

11. Ben is so freaking polite in a crisis. He always speaks so grammatically correct and he still remembers his manners. “May I have the binoculars please?” Not, “Give me the damn binoculars I think the terrorists have invaded already!”

12. Oh yeah, Saywer has met his match in Frank. Too bad Frank is going to have to die. At least, I think he is.

13. Loving Jack using the Sawyerism “Son Of A Bitch!”

14. OMG, I’m freaking crying again at Christian’s funeral. Jack loves and misses his dad? Too much!

15. Yes! I love the Claire is Jack’s sister reveal. I think that the future ramifications are going to be huge from this. All the more inspiration for Jack to return to the island.
16. Ben hands Locke his ass kicking stick which must mean they meet up again before the island moves so he can get it back.

17. Notice those red flowers? They are everywhere on this island.

18. OMG, they are going to blow up the damn freighter. I think I just figured out who the second one responsible for killing Jin - it’s Michael. They are trying to diffuse the bomb to unjam the signal and Michael must mess up. But I sure hope that Desmond doesn’t die there too.

19. So Jin is dead. Ugh.

20. Going back, way back, it sounded like Sawyer was asking Miles if he was talking to someone “again” as they are coming up on Jack and Kate. I’m sure Miles has plenty of people to talk to on this island.

21.  What does Richard and co. want with Kate and Sawyer?  Maybe part of their own plan?  They definitely know who they are.  Will be interested to see where that story line goes.

22.  Ben purposely had himself also caught by the Losties so it doesn’t surprise me that he *surrenders* to the evil freighties.  Sayid tortured him, too, so we know he will sacrifice himself for whatever his cause is.

23.  I wonder if Ben will release old smokey again for Keemy.  I wondered why he didn’t die the first time around but now I’m thinking that Ben has a *special* death planned for that guy.

24.  Overall I LOVED tonight’s episode.  I love that so many things are coming together.  I love that the story is still moving forward.  I love that they can bring new characters on without cheapening the show.  I’m so excited for the two hour finale but I’m also sad that we’ll have to wait again all summer and through part of winter to see more.

25.  Oh yeah, and it was cool to see the looks on their faces when Sun and Jin meet up with Michael.  Quite a history they have.

26.   The Orchid is a green house.  Definitely worth some research.

Initial Thoughts: Cabin Fever

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

(typ-o’s to be corrected tomorrow… too tired tonight so please forgive)

1. Richard. Must be time traveling. Even if he was a clone, he could not pass on memories from one body to another. I think they have a way to travel with body as well as mind.

2. Ew, Emily dated the real Sawyer! Notice that Emily has a similar spirit as Locke - she doesn’t want her mom telling her what to do. Notice that Locke’s mom has a red sweater over her head when she gets hit by the car and while she’s going out to meet “him.” Coincidence?

3. Hurley asks the best questions. And it makes sense that he doesn’t want to camp in the middle of the jungle. Hello Smokey!

4. Notice that Keemy’s gun jams when he tries to shoot Michael? Remember that Michael couldn’t kill himself because the island wasn’t done with him yet. No way Keemy is going to be able to kill him…. yet.

5. Eye opening. Of course.

6. Horace is building the cabin, “A little get-away for me and the missus.” Then we go on to see Christian and Claire in the cabin. It was also so weird that the scene with Horace almost seems like it rewinds and starts over but with a different dialog and notice that he is cutting the same tree over and over.

7. Youngest preemie to ever live. Lives through infections, etc… The island has plans for John. Guessing he can’t die either until the island is done with him.

8. I love Hurley’s theory about how they can see the cabin because they are the craziest. I bet I could see it.

9. Interesting that young John drew the picture of the black smoke. Perhaps he can see the future?
10. Locke has had a very hard life. But I’m curious to know what makes him special. I don’t know that we have enough info yet to determine exactly what skills Locke has. Somehow he is receiving visions in his dreams as we’ve seen over all of the seasons.

11. When Richard comes to young Locke he picks the sand, compass and knife. The other items were a comic book (probably Walt’s), Book of Laws, baseball mitt (Jack’s?). I’m thinking symbols of things to come with those that are special and are drawn to the island. The only thing I could read on the comic book so far is “Hidden Land.”

12. Now Ben is denying that kiling off the Dharma folks wasn’t his idea. If I remember correctly it appeared to be Richard’s. But there was a huge gap of time that we didn’t see Ben so who knows who was calling the shots. I wonder if Horace is Jacob?

13. I was glad that the story finally went back to the boat and it was interesting that at one point we can hear Dan’s telegraph coming through.

14. Interesting that it was asked “What did this to him” (referring to Keemy’s soldier) rather than “Who did this…” or “What happened to him?”

15. Red folder containing the second protocol. I’m thinking that “the one place’ that Ben will go to hide from the freightee’s is the Temple. But why was that map kept so secretly?

16. Ben is the master of all manipulators. When he tries to convince Locke that Hurley staying was some mind trick that Locke was playing, it seemed to me that in actuality Ben has Locke and Hurley staying there with him and Ben is the one who manipulated them into thinking that it was their idea to stay.

17. Is it just me or does the science teacher who talks to teen Locke look like Mr DeGroot?

18. OK, Michael tells Frank that his boss is the one who put the boat at the bottom of the ocean and Frank laughs and implies that Michael is just a conspiracy theorist. Meaning??? That Ben staged it, not Widmore?

19. Yeah, Michael ought to know about having deaths on his conscience.

20. What’s the big deal with what appears to be a detonator on Keemy’s arm? They close the door when he’s putting it on and the captain doesn’t seem to know what it is either. I’m thinking that they’ve wired the island and he can blow it up when they get close enough.

21. I’m sure Desmond and Michael being back on the boat are going to be crucial to everyone being saved eventually. Desmond knows how to sail a boat so I’m thinking that he’s going to be able to navigate the ship.

22. Per Ben, “Destiny is a fickle bitch.” Aint it the truth man?

23. Creepy Eyed Man! Sending Locke to his destiny. Making it all seem like his own idea so he embraces the island.

24. A rewind, if Horace has only been dead 12 years and it’s 2004 on the island that means that he died in 1992? In that hair style? No way!

25. Now Locke owes Mr Creepy Eyes when they meet up again. OOOO, sounds like it’s going to be very cool to see them meet up again.

26. Keemy is not very smart. Why kill your doctor? Out of all the disposable people around, he kills the doctor.

27. Maybe Keemy just has an mp3 player with some really cool music on there. Hurley used to have music in season one, remember? Was pretty cool to have that music around, too. (this is a joke, btw)
28. So is Jack special? But has the island used him for what it needs? Ben says he got a tumor on his spine when the island was done for him so instead of Juliet poisoning him maybe it’s just the island letting him get sick.

29. Why did Horace build this cabin? I’m wondering what the original purpose really was? To somehow contain Jacob?

30. Is John going in the back entrance? The cabin does look different.

31. Am I tired or did it look like a skeleton sitting there until Christian actually stood up? Creepy lighting.

32. Claire is seriously drugged up. My sis thinks she’s dead but I don’t think so. Desmond saw her getting on a helicopter and I think that still happens in the future.

33. I loved the candy bar scene with Hurley and Ben. But, I was thinking that I would love to ask Jorge what it was like filming that scene with Michael Emmerson. I’m by no means an actress but I was actually jealous because Michael is such an amazing actress so what that scene would have been like.

34. I think that they are going to move the island by somehow using the magnetism that jammed the signal in the 1st place. Obviously we don’t know how that is done yet, but it’s a figurative move.

35.  Almost forgot to mention - did you catch the Jeronimo Jackson poster in Locke’s locker?

4 X 10: Something Nice Back Home

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

See my initial thoughts for more…

1. Is anyone else starting to think that the eye opening has just become something expected rather than anything meaningful? Sure, there’s something behind it but overall it’s almost like we expect it rather than the writers trying to tell us something with it. On another note, isn’t it nice to see wrinkles on a Hollywood actor? The whole plastic surgery turning actors into zombies is out of control so it’s nice to see something real. Matthew Fox is easy on the eyes just the way he is!
jack_eye1.jpg Click to enlarge

2. It looks like a Star Wars toy to me that he kicks. I’m not seeing much significance to the toy itself unless it’s just a silly shout out to those who have been saying that they are in outer space. I’d like to see how they are going to get back to *that* island! (that’s a joke, btw). We also see a space mobile above his crib to go along with that theme.
toy1.jpg Click to enlarge

3. Sorry Jaters but I’ve thought a lot about this whole relationship with Kate and Jack and first of all I was hoping, hoping, hoping to see Sarah coming out of that shower. But remembering she was preggers with someone else’s baby when she visited him in the hospital I knew we wouldn’t get that lucky. Also, I think that the only reason that they are both hanging on to each other is because who else in the entire world would be able to understand what they have been through. I’m guessing that we are also going to eventually see Kate losing her marbles (like Hurley and Jack) because the island wants them back!

4. My sister thought that Jack didn’t have a scar when he wakes up (in the future shot). I truly think she just wanted me to post a shirtless Jack picture, but anyway, for the record here is a picture that you *can* clearly see the scar. You can! I swear!
jacks_scar1.jpg Click to enlarge

5. Jack’s secretary calls to remind him of his 11:00 appointment because she knows how he is about his schedule. Meaning what? That he sucks remembering stuff? I’m guessing it’s foreshadowing for things to come.

6. I think I’m turning into one of “those” people who analyze every tattoo but in reality they’ve been there all along, they mean nothing, and they are Matthew Fox’s in real life. But … just in case, here is a screenshot of his back. I tried to enlarge but didn’t get a clear image that way.
jack_tattoo1.jpg Click to enlarge

7. Honestly, Miles has it the worst on this island. Imagine, he can hear the dead people talking are there are a lot of them. I think he’s going to be key to finding out a lot of things around here. For instance, he will be able to hear Adam and Eve back in the cave. I hope that the writers plan to use him this way. He could eventually end up being a very *reluctant* hero.
miles1.jpg Click to enlarge

8. Another Star Wars homage? I may not know bunches about Star Wars, but I remember crying (don’t laugh) when Han Solo was frozen in the carbonite (yes, I looked it up because I couldn’t remember the substance). Anyway, these images of Danielle and Karl reminded me that imagery of Han when he was frozen.
danielle1.jpg hansolo2.jpg click to enlarge

9. “Their not my buddies man. I didn’t sign up for this.” I believe Miles. He seemed kind of whimpy when he was talking to the ghost in the grandmother’s home so I would guess he came here for the money and nothing else as well.
miles2 copy.jpg Click to enlarge

10. As Rose said, people on the island don’t get sick. Also, this wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve seen someone poison or try to stop someone they love from leaving the island (Sun and Walt). I still think that Juliet was up to something.

11. A couple of words on Dan. I miss having more Dan in the episodes. His character brings a lot to the show. It cracked me up when he was scolding Charlotte for her *bad attitude.* Although, I don’t agree that is the reason the survivors don’t trust them. Let’s also not forget that Dan’s constant (Desmond) is the on the freighter so I’m sure he really would like to reunite with him - making his efforts to make friends with the Losties believable.
dan1.jpg Click to enlarge

12. This could soooo be Charlie standing there. He was always wearing that hoodie. I still think that Charlie is talking to Miles here about protecting Aaron.
hoodie1.jpg hoodie2_2.jpg Click to enlarge

13. Hurley in the hospital. First off, it made me sad. Hurley and his smile brightening everyone up back on the island but now he’s so sad. I don’t think he meant that the six were literally dead. It goes along with the irony of the title this week. There is nothing nice for them back home.

14. Jack saw his father before he went to see Hurley so the visions had already started. I think Jack also knows exactly what Charlie’s message meant and that is why he gets so upset over it. Jack knows at this point that Aaron is his nephew but I’m sure that whatever upsets him so much over being around Aaron will be shown in seasons to come. I can’t wait to hear those conversations between Hurley and Charlie. But Hurley seems so much more calm and at peace with it than Jack. I think Hurley knows what must be done. He stopped running from Charlie (ie; the past) and now he listens.
hurleyandjack1.jpg Click to enlarge

15. I love the symbolism of the shadow following Jack around here. Just like the past, get it?
jackshadow1.jpg Click to enlarge

16. Interesing, I didn’t catch this during the episode the first time. When Dan and Charlotte first come into the hatch he asks where all the power is coming from. Charlotte tells him to add it on to the list. What list? The list of oddities on the island? The list of information they are gathering to bring back home?

17. Geez, these guys face Old Smokey and this is all that was done to them? Keemy was the guy who killed Alex and he looks fine. What’s up with that? Was it part of Ben and Widmore’s promise not to kill each other’s people?
injuredguy1.jpg Click to enlarge

18. What a cool little twist that Charlotte speaks Korean. I wonder if Jin will tell Sun or if he’ll keep it a secret, like Michael keeping Sun’s secret that she spoke English. I love it that they Losties are proving to her that she has underestimated them by thinking they were so stupid.
jin1.jpg Click to enlarge

19. “Wouldn’t you rather be dreaming about something nice back home?” Ah, sweet irony.
bernard.jpg Click to enlarge

20. I’ve talked before when Charlie came to Hurley at Santa Rosa that it could be some manifestation created by Smokey. Now, how interesting that the SMOKE alarm is beeping right before Christian appears to Jack. Coincidence?
smoke_alarm1.jpg Click to enlarge

21. Christian sitting on the couch in those white tennis shoes. Looks like the same position he was in when Hurley saw him in Jacobs cabin.
christian1.jpg christinainshack1.jpg shoes_jacob1.jpg Click to enlarge

22. Out of all the little cute crafts on the refrigerator, I found the drawing of the odd creature the most interesting (to the left of Jack). I remember my daughter making renderings of us when she was small but I don’t remember us looking like monsters.
drawing1.jpg Click to enlarge

23. Claire wakes up to her dead father holding the baby and she doesn’t scream or wake the others, she just goes with him? Something doesn’t make sense. At least the last time the Others took her they drugged her. And… on top of it she leaves Aaron behind. And look what he’s wearing. At least when Hurley saw him in the cabin he was wearing the suit he was going to be buried in. Here he’s wearing typical island gear. AND… well, I was going to ask how they know Claire has a connection to him but I guess the Others have all kinds of information about the Losties so that part isn’t that big of a surprise. I’m going to be so interested to see how this one plays out. I’m convinced at this point we don’t have enough information to speculate on all of the why’s of this situation. Yeah right, who am I kidding? We could speculate all day long but I’m not coming up with anything that good.
christian_baby1.jpg Click to enlarge

24. I do think that all of the “big brother” behavior towards Claire is going to be the key to why Sawyer doesn’t leave the island. He convinced her to go back to the beach so he is going to feel guilty enough to want to stay and find her. Sawyer has found his purpose. He’s said before that there is nothing for him back home. Nothing nice for him there (pun intended).

25. “Jack kissed me… blah, blah, blah, blah….” I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy for a reason Darlton.
juliet1.jpg Click to enlarge

26. I think it’s a pretty reasonable conclusion that Kate went out to Cassidy and Clemintine. I’m sure that Sawyer had some money somewhere and he asked Kate to get it and then give it to them. Awwww, how sweet. But wow Jack! Jealous much? I think it will be pretty cool if Kate and Cassidy ended up being friends. Seems like from what we’ve seen Cassidy would be a trustworthy kind-of gal to know the truth of what happened.

27. Charlie has told Hurley already that “they need him” assuming that means that he needs to go back to the island. so Charlie giving the message that Jack isn’t supposed to raise Aaron is along the same lines. Claire is supposed to raise her own baby. I don’t think that there’s going to be time when push comes to shove to get off the island to find her so the choice is going to be made that she would want Aaron saved. Now Jack will have the guilt that he needs to go back and find her so that she can raise Aaron.

28. I’m still wondering who is in that coffin? Who disturbs Jack that much that he goes to the funeral but that Kate does not? If it’s Michael then some big stuff with him is coming up.

29. I’ll say it again, the submarine is going to play a role in them getting off the island and why they can only pick six to go.

4 X 08: Meet Kevin Johnson

Friday, March 21st, 2008

My sister is the only person I know whose theories make me even say, “Gosh, Julie, I think you’re reading too much into that.” So it was no wonder she came over last night with Cosmos trying to dull my Lost senses. Apologies if my initial thoughts were off, blame it on my sis.

1. I can’t stop thinking about the podcast I listed to a few weeks ago with Darlton. They were talking about theories and how different they were is Season One just because we didn’t have all of the information that we have now. I think about that a lot when I’m writing and/or thinking about the show because just like in life, I’m basing my ideas on what I know now and what I’ve experienced. It is going to be so interesting in a year or longer to look back and read past ideas. I have to say that in Season One I had very vastly different ideas about what was going on here.
mrfriendly1.jpg Click to enlarge

2. Ben tells Michael that if he follows his coordinates he will find rescue. That makes me think that he had people waiting to take them back to land. That would make sense of how Michael went from a little tugboat all the way back to New York.

3. At first I thought the opening scene where Locke brings in Miles was very odd. They’re all just standing there looking at each other. Then, after listening to Locke’s speech it made me think that it was a very subtle way the writers were talking to us, the viewers. Locke says, “Thank you all for your patience… you deserve to know everything that I do. So, no more secrets.” We are past the Beginning of the End (in more ways then one) so it only seems fair to start answering some questions, don’t you think? And it seems like we have been getting some answers.

4. Dictators usually have a backup plan if they ever get caught. What if Ben was the one who actually gave the orders that if he ever gets caught to kill everyone on the island? Maybe he wants any *witnesses* (so-to-speak) to die if he is caught. Kool-Aid drinkers if you will. If he dies, they all die. Why would Miles defend himself or go against anything Ben says? He’s exactly where he wants to be, according to his own words, and doesn’t seem to give much credit to the Losties so he probably doesn’t really care what they do or don’t think. Miles is working his own agenda.

5. Desmond, sleep with your shoes on!
sayiddesmond1.jpg Click to enlarge

6. This map to the temple really sucks. “Yeah, take a left at the mountain tops after you pass over those other mountaintops over to the right.” Seems that Danielle should have circumnavigated this island a few times (remember her map that Sayid stole?) so she probably has a good idea where it is.
map11.jpg Click to enlarge

7. I’m thinking that Danielle might know that something is up when Ben wants to send Alex off to the Temple. She has that look on her face here.
danielle1.jpg Click to enlarge

8. Eye opening about 12 minutes into the show this time.
eye1.jpg Click to enlarge

9. Michael’s tell-tale heart is catching up to him.
libby2_1.jpg Click to enlarge

10. Maybe the reason Walt is waking up screaming in the middle of the night is because he’s doing a wee bit of the time traveling. Heck, he saw Locke almost dead laying on top of a pile of skeletons, that would probably freak me out too! Darlton did confirm that Walt can time travel and we saw how Desmond reacted coming and going.

11. Michael is healing really fast for not being on the island. Makes me think that the island has some leftover effect on people after they leave. You can see he still has a cut on his face when he goes to see his mom but he was just in the hospital with a neck brace after hitting a wall at over 60 miles and hour.
michael11.jpg Click to enlarge

12. Red flowers by momma’s door. Ergh, they’re taunting me now.
flowers11.jpg Click to enlarge

13. That is so not Walt in the window. Nice try. Need better photoshop editors next time or an actor that looks more like him.
walt1.jpg Click to enlarge

14. Guess we know why Jack couldn’t kill himself. The island isn’t done with him yet. Michael thinks that he’s on the boat to die, but he might have even more work to do after the boat mission is complete. I think that this whole deal with the island keeping people alive goes along with course correction. Michael needed to live in order to put forth a chain of events that were supposed to happen. Again, maybe not on the freighter, but there is something that he needs to be around for. Maybe it has to do with Walt. I can’t believe that we’ve not had a resolution nor will we have one as to what makes Walt so special. I think we’ll be finding out over the next 3 seasons.
mrfriendlyhome1.jpg Click to enlarge

15. Cute. Michael has a gameshow on when he’s about to shoot himself and the category is literature. The answer is Kurt Vonnegut. There has been a lot of chatter online about Slaughterhouse Five and how it applies to Lost.
gameshow1.jpg Click to enlarge

16. Guess we also found out why there isn’t an issue identifying the bodies that were found in the fake 815 remains, where the bodies came from, and how in the world you would find a plane to stage that no one would miss.

17. Wow, Ben must have some fat cash to be able to put Mr Friendly up in the penthouse.

18. Good thing Mr Friendly just happened to have a folder laying around with information regarding the fake plane crash. With pictures!
cemetary1.jpg purchaseorder1.jpg Click to enlarge

19. Kevin Johnson is awfully happy in this picture. And I like how the number starts with “HNSO.”
passport1.jpg Click to enlarge

20. Isn’t it bad luck to change the name of a boat? How strangely obvious that the name was changed.
name1.jpg Click to enlarge

21. I found it interesting when Mr Friendly was listing off some of Michael’s friends on the island he listed Sun first. Especially considering they had somewhat of a flirtatious relationship.

22. If Widmore hired this boat to search out the island, wouldn’t he have done extensive research into who was on the boat? My point being, Kevin isn’t Kevin and surely someone on the freighter knew it!

23. When Naomi and Frank are arguing on the ship, she says she has to go first. I guess I had forgotten that there was a second helicopter that Naomi crashed. I wonder if at some point they will find the wreckage. Maybe be able to salvage it?

24. Don’t push the button. The button’s bad.
libby3_1.jpg Click to enlarge

25. If Smokey or Jacob are sending the ghost people to the survivors, then wouldn’t blowing up the ship (if it was truly on a mission to kidnap Ben and wipe out the rest of the people) be a good thing? Wouldn’t Jacob want the boat stopped? And if so, then wouldn’t ghost Libby tell Michael to go for it?

26. Cruel.
note11.jpg Click to enlarge

27. Ben calling as Walt. Also cruel.

28. Ben gets a lot of use out of that closet. And with Sayid off the island, the other survivors don’t know that it’s there. But I would bet we will see even more uses for Ben’s “magic box.”
closet1.jpg Click to enlarge

29. Future Sayid must have stolen Desmond’s hairstyle.
desmond11.jpg Click to enlarge

30. I don’t think that the captain looks all that surprised to find out that Kevin isn’t Kevin.
captain11.jpg Click to enlarge

31. At first I was surprised at Sayid’s decision to rat out Michael to the captain. But then as I watched the show again I see that Sayid had plenty of time to consider what action to take. I would think that even if the freighter crew weren’t there to save the survivors, there is a chance that Sayid could still use the boat to rescue them and he would need the crew to make it happen. Therefore, he doesn’t want the crew dead. Plus he builds trust with the captain by ratting out Michael, especially if the captain already knew about Michael. If I were ever in a plane crash on a crazy island, I would want Sayid there. So far, out of all the survivors he has acted the most pro actively in keeping them safe and saving all of them.

32. What in the world in hanging from Alex’s ear? Prop error?
alex1.jpg Click to enlarge

33. I think it’s Ben’s people that kill Karl and Danielle. Remember when they were using the poison darts on Kate, Jack, etc? Looks like they are using the darts again only this time to kill.  Also, Ben wants Alex all to himself and he is so ruthless that he would kill her mother, right in front of her. I still hope that Danielle is alive, but I’m not counting on it. I could see her coming back to the compound to warn the others of what has happened.

34. You can see someone off to the left in the grass, but it doesn’t help to figure out who it is.
grass2_1.jpg Click to enlarge

Initial Thoughts: Meet Kevin Johnson

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I’m still disappointed with the whole Michael returns story line. I *almost* had sympathy for Michael tonight, however. He keeps making really bad choices and getting himself into some very bad situations. Not sure I thought it was a tremendous cliffhanger either.

1. What I want to know is when Michael and Walt found rescue how did they explain who they were and how they got that boat? They obviously didn’t admit to being part of the Oceanic survivors.

2. I would guess that it’s Michael in the coffin, but it almost seems too obvious. On the other hand, it would explain why no one came to the funeral - he was using a fake name. Again, how does Michael get back to the mainland if he doesn’t die on the freighter? Jack would have to know Michael’s pseudonym in order to know it was his obituary which means Michael meets back up with the survivors.

3. So the sanctuary is the last safe place on the island? I’m thinking it must be a bunker similar to the original button pushing bunker. Remember those thick doors that Michael was checking out?

4. Are we supposed to believe that the people on the boat are the one’s who are coming that Ben is so afraid of? I’m thinking we may see the “Other” Others that have been on the island. They could be the remaining Dharma’s that weren’t killed by Ben. Besides the fact that the men on the boat have machine guns, they don’t seem to be in very good shape (think Minkowski) and the boat is trying to get AWAY from the island but Michael sabotages the engines so they can’t get away. I’m just not convinced that the freighties are the ones coming to kill them all.

5. Michael’s eye opening in the hospital. Interesting it wasn’t at the beginning of the episode this time.

6. Did you catch that nurse Libby was bringing Michael blankets? Just like when she walked into the hatch when Michael shot her. So why is Libby haunting Michael? We’ve seen a lot of hauntings in this show. Charlie, Christian, Ana Lucia, Eko’s brother, Boone, and Dave who technically wasn’t ever alive.

7. So the time frame is that Michael has been gone two months according to his mother. Mr Friendly didn’t have too much more time to live after this episode if my memory is correct.

8. Could they have at least used the original actor for Walt? Seemed too cheesy.

9. Someone needs to read Korean! what was on the back of that watch? I haven’t thought about that watch for awhile. Good thing Jin didn’t make it back without it.

10. The island won’t let Michael die? Is that why Mikael kept living through those crazy accidents that should have killed him? This idea is very strange. If everything on this show has some explanation, how do you explain this outside of pure coincidence? Reminds me of an XFiles episode. I forget how that guy finally died.

11. Michael sure seemed to heal fast after trying to kill himself. He was out running around in no time. Did the island somehow give him the ability? Not like a Heroes power, more like some magnetic *hangover* if you will that allows your cells to heal faster. Or at least for awhile.

12. Mr Friendly tells Michael that he has work to do. Boone told Locke the same thing in his airport magic carpet ride dream and Walt also tells Locke this when he’s laying there dying after Ben shoots him.

13. It wasn’t a secret that Mr Friendly was gay. Remember that when Kate is first in the Others locker room after being kidnapped, he tells her not to worry because she’s not his type. He indulges when he’s not on the island.

14. I still don’t believe that Widmore staged the crash. Mr Friendly knows so very many details about how it was done, seems like maybe he knows just a little *too* much about it. I did appreciate that the reason the bodies weren’t pulled out of the wreckage and identified.

15. No one in Thailand noticed all those bodies missing?

16. Miles could have been talking to the ghost Libby that is following Michael around and that is how he knew it wasn’t really his name.

17. Maybe Michael sees that the effects of the island are killing the freighter crew and that is why he doesn’t want the ship to move away.

18. Is Frank really a good judge of character? He confides that the survivors of 815 might still be out there. Or since he has the manifest memorized does he perhaps know this is Michael somehow?

19. Michael killed Ana Lucia on his own. Wow, makes him seem even worse.

20. Ben wants a list of people on the boat. Makes me wonder if he is the one who orders the list of survivors on the plane. Makes me even think that there could have even been a mole on the plane who had the list before they crashed. Who is good on that boat that they want to save and why would Ben care?

21. Looks like Sayid must like Desmond’s hair this week because he has the same ‘do’ in the future. Yucky.

22. Ben is totally communicating with the Others - how else would they know Alex was coming? Ben is really a very selfish person - wanting Alex all to himself and he’s willing to kill to make that happen. However, it would be a cool twist if this explains where Frank and the other freighter guy went on their *errand.* They went to capture Alex because she is a great bargaining chip to get to Ben.

23.  They can’t kill Danielle!  We haven’t seen enough of her story yet!

24. April 24th. Doesn’t sound like too bad of a wait.

25. I could hear the monster outside of one of the houses in the previews. Looks like old Smokey must find a way around the security perimeter.

26.  Instead of whispers, Michael hears a song right before Libby shows up to tell him not to push the button (remember Walt’s “Push the button, don’t push the button.  The button’s bad?”).  And the Execute button was just like the one in the hatch.

27.  I thought for sure Michael would ask Sayid how Vincent was doing.
