Foxy on SNL

I’m not a big fan of SNL, but it’s fun to see Matthew Fox doing something different than the uptight Jack role.

You know…. it’s interesting that he was on that show. It kind of ties everything together in my mind. You see, I had to find a new show to keep myself occupied while Lost is on hiatus. So I’ve found myself a new addiction, “Heroes.” In a kind of 6-degrees-of-kevin-bacon fashion, here’s how it all connects.

The bike messenger in the elevator sketch and the spikey hair guy in the second sketch were played by Andy Samberg, who joined SNL not too long ago. Andy is “one of three LA-based writer-performer-filmmakers (all childhood friends) dubbed ‘The Lonely Island’” He gets to act on SNL while his two buddies were hired on as writers for SNL.

You can check out some of their pre-SNL home-made productions at www.thelonelyisland.com. They’re very funny. On one of their sketches on that particular website, they made a parody of “The OC” and called it “The BU” as in Malibu. (http://www.thelonelyisland.com/thebu.html) On that mini-series they hired a friend actress, Sarah Chalke (of “Scrubs” fame). When scrubs became a full time commitment for Sarah, they had to hire someone else to play her part in their comedy, with funny results.

Anyway.. I’m getting a bit long-winded. Masi Oka had a recurring role on Scrubs as a character named Franklyn. Why is that important? Masi Oka is only the coolest character on Heroes!!!! Hiro Nakamura, the time traveling and teleporting extraordinaire!

In real life the guy is still pretty impressive. He works for ILM and wrote the code for the water effects you see in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The perfect storm”

The sad part? Heroes just had a finally tonight. No new stuff till sometime in January. :(

I love this connection. Heroes could be my next blog obsession. Let’s hope they don’t infect the show with *black oil* like another certain cool cult classic show (no, not Lost … yet)
