Initial Thoughts: The Little Prince

I didn’t watch the pop ups again. I figure as much time as I spend blogging, maybe someone out there will be kind enough to share if there is something I miss???

1. Was it just my tv or was the sound “off” this week? Last week the color was weird and this week the sound was off. I’m hoping it’s just a technical glitch.

2. Why does Kate want to keep Aaron… possibly a surrogate in her heart for the losses she had. Her losses including Sawyer perhaps? I think Kate would feel a overall loss leaving behind her “friends” on the island, but a deeper sense of loss as she obviously had feelings for him that were pretty intense. I’m also wondering if she lost a baby in her past. She should have renamed him “Tom” and bought him a toy airplane.

3. Locke asks Sawyer if he does want Kate to come back. My question is why Sawyer wouldn’t also want to find the way OFF the island to GO and see her? Why would they want the six to come back? Why wouldn’t they want to leave and go be with them? That is what I’d be asking for, at least.4. I think it’s time that they show us where Rose and Bernard and anyone else left alive from the Losties have been. There seemed to be quite a few on the beach and now we are down to three Losties and three Freighter-ies. Seems like the three Losties are fine though and it’s the Freighter gang that’s getting the nose bleeds (and Juliet, but she’s not a Lostie).

5. Sayid is always fighting with someone. I suppose that Ben addresses them in the way they live, but wouldn’t Sayid wonder why these guys just shoot darts at him and don’t kill him?

6. I think that the scene where Kate is helping Claire deliver the baby is very moving to Sawyer because he misses her and remember how happy he was when he found out that she wasn’t pregnant by him. Lots of regret there, I’m sure.

7. The time jumps that they are having on the island seem more and more to be purposeful moments and not random at all. Like how you see your life flash before your eyes before you die or how the ghosts took Ebenezer Scrooge to poignant moments in his life. Locke hops back and tells Richard about this birth, setting up a chain of events to prove he’s special. Richard happens to be there when Locke is shot. Locke sees the light from the hatch which reminds him that he had to suffer to get where he is and therefore he doesn’t want to change any of the events that are happening.  Like Sawyer asks him if he wants to go and warn himself not to make stupid choices and Locke does not want to.
8. Saywer keeps mentioning that beer.

9.  Aija Airlines.  Another crash or could it be how the O6 get back to the island and we’re seeing after they get back.  Maybe we are seeing the Losties ON the island, in the future, AFTER the O6 get back.  Maybe the O6 are shooting at the Losites in the boat not realizing who they are shooting at.  Or…
10.  OTHER Others shooting at the Losties in the boat.  We haven’t seen Richard’s group for awhile plus I’ve thought all along there was another set of Others we haven’t been introduced to yet.
11.   Another Foreest Gump moment.  First Kate says they are going “on vacation” then Sawyer has a Leuitenant Dan moment thanking God for the rain.  Will Sayer end up having his Come To God moment too?  Anyone who’s seen the movie will understand.
12.   Jack must fix something.  Wants to fix Kate’s situation.

13.  That was Danielle’s group in the raft that finds Jin.  And YEAH! Jin is alive!  Another purposeful moment to skip to.
14.   Could Jin be floating in the water for two days and live?  Do we even know how long since the O6 left the island?  And what are they eating to stay alive?

15.   Looks like next week he tells her that Jin is alive but of course in true Ben fashion he’s going to somehow use Jin as bait to get her back to the island.  Now, about Hurley… since the only one truly OK with going back is Jack, he’s going to need to use something fantastic to get Hurley to agree.

16.  The Losties flash forward and find the camp.  Vincent’s collar is there.  Who has been living there with Vincent?  Wouldn’t Vincent be time flopping around with them?

GG – I like what you said about Kate, that maybe she was pregnant before and lost the baby. How much she hated her father (the one her mother loved so much), I never believed that that man never touched her. What if he got Kate pregnant when she was younger and living at home with her parents. She didn’t know he was her real father, but her mother did. Or, Tom (Kate’s childhood love) could have got her pregnent too. Maybe her mother forced Kate to give the baby up for addoption – it would kind of parallel Claire who was planning to give her baby up for adoption.

About Sawyer, I think he doesn’t want to leave the island because of what he said last season, there’s nothing for him back in the real world and he knows it. I’m wondering what happened to the other Losties as well. Where the heck are they?

I knew good old Ben was setting them up, especially the lawyers with Kate. It was a surprise to see Claire’s mother there, but then that’s Lost for you…lol.

I have a theory why the Frieghties are the only ones having problems and the Losties and Juliet aren’t. Maybe it has to do with when the hatch blew up, the Losteies and Juliet were on the island for that and the Frieghties weren’t. Maybe that radiation is somehow protecting them. Also, this may not be the same thing that happened with Desmond where he was moving through time. Even Dan said he wasn’t sure if it was just them moving through time or if it was actually the island. Maybe there’s a difference.

Ben’s proof to Sun that Jin is still alive… We know that the Other’s took Danielle’s baby (Alex). Maybe they took some other items as well, like say a diary or some other log that mentions how they found a Korean guy named Jin in the water after their crash. Now Ben has it with him and he’s going to show it to Sun. Richard could have known such an item would be important because he met the Losties and Frieghties in his past and took it and gave it to Ben and told him to keep it somewhere safe in the real world because he’d someday need it.

I’ve always wanted to know about Danielle’s team. I hope we’ll get to see more of them and find out what they’re doing on the island. A science team wreaking on the island… Um, hey, doesn’t that sound kind of like the Frieghties to you guys? Maybe they were part of another mission 16 years earlier. Danielle’s discription on how her team got sick also sounds a lot like what happened to the Frieghties (going crazy, commiting suicide, killing each other) doesn’t it? Maybe those DHARMA injections weren’t to prevent some sickness, but to offset the effects of the unique magnetic properties of the island.

For Jin surviving 2 days in the water, I know you can go 3 days without water and 7 days without food and live.

I thought Ben was going to make some dramatic jail breakout to get Hurley. But I guess they’re going to get him out on some legal means. Get him on bail maybe and then run for it. You know Ben…lol.

Someone was there with Vincent, it must have been Rose and Bernard. They must have come back to the camp when they couldn’t find Sawyer and the rest, but then those cannoes showed up and they ran for it. Just a guess.

Oh, on a side note – tonight’s show was pretty cool. But it’s going to be hard to top Jughead – that one was just awesome with all of it’s surprises and the new questions it gave us. I kind of expected to see Danielle’s team and I figured Ben was up to his old tricks to get the O6 back together. Jin, I was just hoping we’d see him again and glad they through him back to us. It’s kind of heart rending to see Sun and Jin’s story – how they find each other – only to become distant after their marriage – then find each other again on the island – only to lose each other when Jin leaves on the raft – find each other again when Jin returns from the other side of this island – then to lose each other when the freighter blows up.

i think the flashes come exactly when something may happen to change what has already happened (when they are in the past) or the flashes come when something may happen that will change what is supposed to happen (when they are in the present/future).

probably the most confusing sentence i have ever typed …

sort of a way of maintaining fate ??!?!?!

I thought last nights episode was great! Sawyer is the king of one-liners, “are those OTHER others?” great stuff! I am gonna go the opposite way of the majority here in saying that I think Ben is actually gonna turn out to be the “good guy” when all this is said and done. Sure he’s killed a lot of people in his day and done some pretty horrible things, but for some reason I think it’s all for the good of the island and to keep the world from total destruction!! Ben knows whats up…The Losties just need to shut there mouths and listen…

Nothing insightful to add, just wanted to say thanks for keeping me caught up on the thoughts. I watch and come read YOU to know what I need to know.

Hubs wants to know where all the other Losties are? Especially the children. He is very bothered by the lack of people–at the end of each new epi so far he’s asked.

  6. GaryG Says:

There is something to why the Others didn’t kill off the Losties and allowed them to live on the island. Of course, Richard did meet some of them in his past. I’m thinking the Losties all become Others sooner or later. Like I said in another post – I think Jack becomes the next leader of the Others. I think all the trials and troubles they’ve been having have all been tests to prepare them as caretakers of the island. Throughout all the shows, there have also been plenty of hints that the DHARMA guys weren’t the nice Hippies that they always appear to be. Think about it, all the guns they had, plus their recruiting of ex-military people. They were up to something besides conducting research and I don’t think it was to just save the world. Maybe save it and re-fashion it in their own image. Obviously rich and powerful people were funding the DHARMA Inititive and such people almost always are interested in more power and influence.

Notice how just about every time they flash, they take something with them? The carbines, the canoes, Jin’s raft… anything else? Their clothes have come with them at every point. But that compass entered the jumping time line early on (2005?) and, we assume, got left in 1954. Was Faraday ever separated from his backpack during a jump? Are there rules for this?
