    um spoiler aLERT?

  2. GaryG Says:

Well, we already know their cover story is a lie. But anyone who knows boats and ships would realize that that life raft would have come from a large ship and not a small fishing boat.

  3. jonv Says:

What’s with the two Hurley’s in the first picture???

  4. colin Says:

yeh i know, i noticed the two hurley thing too… wierd. Maybe its his stunt double lol gotta love hurley!

  5. Brian Palmer Says:

i don’t know but who is that hot guy in the board shorts in the second pic! Oh yeah, forgot to tell you I swing that way :)

  6. Gitsie Girl Says:

Do you really think this is spoiler? I guess I can see both sides.

The two Hurleys is because he has a stunt double. Nothing to do with the theory of the show.

Maybe the guy in the shorts didn’t want the cast getting all the attention?

  7. Smith Says:

So, Desmond and Frank made it back (see the third and fourth photos, respectively). Maybe because they weren’t on the plane, they got ignored? Lends credence to Desmond being in the coffin. I couldn’t see Sayid just blowing off his funeral though, considering their time as freighter-buddies.

Did Desmond really interact with Sun or Kate enough that they would pay their respects? I feel like he’s interacted with Sun at least once, and he held Kate captive (though there wasn’t really any bond made there).

Now I’m not saying that Desmond is definitely in the coffin, it’s just a distinct possibility now. Maybe he got in the way of Ben’s daughter-for-daughter revenge? It would be a waste (which character wouldn’t?), because I feel we still haven’t delved into Desmond’s back story as much as say, Charlie’s, despite his story being of infinitely more importance. Probably because 3 of his 4 centric episodes have been concerned with the future moreso than the past.

I don’t know, maybe I’m just spouting crap. Hell, maybe the spoiler’s wrong and Frank’s in the coffin.

  8. R Says:

GG & friends you HAVE TO see this photo if you haven’t already. I don’t know how to send it or post it, so I’ll tell you where to find it. If this is old news or irrelelvant I apologize, but it was brand new and mind-blowing to me… A friend sent me a freeze frame of Season 1, Pilot Episode, Opening Scene… Jack laying on his back in the jungle. And look above his right shoulder… Ben’s freaking baton / light saber / gun / weapon type thing! If it means what I think, either Jack has made this island trip before, and probably others have too. Or that scene is actually Jack RETURNING to the island in the future. He proceeds to run to the beach, look around, and the wreckage appears. Are these different scenes / times spliced together? Did Jack really land on his back that far away from the plane wreck??? Have we been duped from the get go? I never saw it before b/c you’re too busy focusing on Jack’s face and the idea of the crash. Is this huge or am I reading too much into that photo? Check your DVD, it’s there and it’s real. What or how much it means is up for speculation, but it has my head spinning for sure!! I love this damn show!

R: I don’t know…. I just looked and I don’t see it. You piqued my curiosity but it just looks like bamboo that was knocked down. I’ll try to get you some screencaps but I’m not seeing it.

As far as Jack, yeah I think he *had* to be thrown from the wreckage because it added to the buildup. You open with his eye (of course) then it’s all quiet (except for Vincent) and then he comes out to find the wreckage. Seems to me that it wouldn’t be nearly as effective if he woke up in the middle of the burning fuselage as it did to have him come out to people screaming and the chaos.

  10. Foffman Says:

Woah! R’s right! I looked on the pilot season 1 scene. Sure enough, when the camera zooms away from Jack’s face, it’s almost just above his left shoulder. Although it’s his left shoulder, not his right. And it’s too hard to tell for sure that it’s the baton, but it sure looks like it!

  11. R Says:

It’s the black piece under the bamboo, on the right side of the screen I meant to say, his left shoulder. Could be just one of those things they throw in there to make us think, or it could be something more. That’s the beauty of it :)

  12. Smith Says:

You know, I think I remember seeing the black piece of bamboo when I first watched the Pilot. I didn’t think anything of it, though. You’d think Jack would, you know, save Boone and Charlie if he was from the future. And make less dumb decisions. And stop being such a prick.

Wouldn’t he already have the appendix scar, though?

  13. R Says:

Hey, I just thought it might be interesting, maybe mean something, maybe not… Heck it could be a 15 year old snickers bar that Hurley finds and eats in season 5!!

  14. Gitsie Girl Says:

R: Apologies for not being more appreciative. It is a good catch and it’s cool that you shared with us. I’m still trying to get a screen cap of it for further discussion. It’s fun to go back and try to find little things that meant nothing before and maybe everything now! Imagine what it could mean if Jack did have Ben’s stick in the opening scene? Wow!

  15. GaryG Says:

R: Well here’s something to think about considering that baton being there. I’m sure people have thought of this before. But everyone who survives the crash of 815 are all outside the plane. It would seem more likely that the people who were still in the plane, belted into their seats would have survived. But every survivor was out of the plane, not a single person who was inside the plane survived, with one exception, the pilot, but he got taken out pretty quick.

We should watch this next episode closely… as if we’re not…lol. But Locke has the baton, Ben gave it to him just before he gave himself up, we’ll see if he gives it to Jack or Jack takes it from him.

  16. GaryG Says:

I just watched the pilot seen and yes, that could be the baton. Vincent shows up soon after and stops by Jack and then runs off. I wonder if Vincent takes it, it’s hard to tell.

Smith: Remember Desmond’s time traveling adventures, his body didn’t go back in time, only his mind did. Maybe it’s the same with Jack if that’s what’s happening. The baton may have to go with him. I don’t know. We do know that when they get back to the real world, Jack spends every weekend getting on planes hoping they crash. I wonder if he’s traveling with the baton? If Jack gets the baton from Locke, then we’ll know there’s more to it.

We know Ben has secrets. I mentioned some time ago when Sayid found Ben’s secret closet with the clothes and passports that Ben must have a secret way off the island that the other Other’s don’t know about, or why else keep that room hidden from them. I said it’d have to be an unconventional method of travel since if Ben were gone for a long period of time, the Others would notice. Some kind of portal (space and time). Maybe the baton is the key.

The writers do hide a lot of important information in seemingly unimportant comments the charater’s make. It’s not until later episodes that those comments suddenly seem important. Like Ben giving the baton to Locke and telling him to hold on to it for him. Maybe Keemy would have known what it was, so he gave it to Locke before he surrendered to keep it from Keemy.

  17. GaryG Says:

I going to add a bit of weird science here. I mentioned a while back that I felt that the island was located in some time of singularity, like a fold in space or black hole. I also mentioned how a black hole bordered by what’s called an event horizon, where time is supposed to stop. If time ceases to exist in an area of space, that that area of space should touch all points in time outside of it. It would have to. Folds in space and black holes are caused by gravity and powerful magnetic forces… sound familiar?

If a person or object enters such an area of timeless space, they can come out of it moments later, in the past or in the future. Well, we’ve seen a few instances of this already. The probe Dan has the ship launch arrives 2 hours later, the ship’s doctor washing up dead on the beach before his throat is slit on the ship, the helicopter with Desmond and Sayid arriving at the ship at a different time than what they should have. Quantum physics supports these theories. If we could shrink ourselves down and live in the quantum world, things would really be confusing.

Now it gets really weird. If a person were to enter an area of space that had no time, when he returns to normal space, he’d also still remain in timeless space. Remember, no time, if something is in there, it’s in there forever… then forever is a term relating to time and it’s pretty much impossible for us to even conceptualize what it’d be like in a place that time does not exsist. But anyhow, like I said, that person would still be in there, a double, but not a double. That means another of him may exit from that timeless space, and another, and another…

This could also explain an ageless Richard, but I kind of still think Richard may be dead, mostly because of that remark Ben made to him about being able to remember birthdays. But then this so is crazy and likes to keep us stumped… that’s why we love it.

  18. GaryG Says:

Well, here’s something interesting GG. I just wrote all that above and then looked at the pictures you captured of Dan’s notebook. Look at the first picture. It’s a diagram and below it the text mentions a singularity.

  19. GaryG Says:

I actually found the top diagram, the one that looks like 2 cones joined together in Einstien’s “The Meaning of Relitivity” in the chapter on special relativity. It relates to the Lorentz Transformation and its Theory of Invariants. Basically it’s the point at which 2 space-time points fall together. It mostly talks about points at which light signals can be sent. Remember Dan’s comment about how light scattered on the island?

The other diagram looks simular to diagrams of the phenomenological representation of the Energy Tensor of Matter.

  20. GaryG Says:

By the way, checking out the pilot to see that baton, did anyone else notice that that start the pilot with the same music as the flashbacks? Like the whole show is a flashback catching up to the present?

  21. R Says:

GG: We’re just superstars on the same team! I love your site! Style & Substance!

    Smith: Aye brutha!

Gary G: Jeez, just when I thought I was smart you throw out all that weird science! TIME will tell………

  22. GaryG Says:

R: lolol, thank you. It’s not really weird, just hard physics. I think that’s why this show is so appealing to such a wide audience. It’s so in-depth. There really hasn’t been a show on TV I enjoyed as much as this one since the X-Files. It doesn’t surprise me that some of the cast also appeared on the X-files, like Locke, Mr. Widmore and the guy who tricked Sawyer into killing that guy in Austraila. But hey, don’t you think us physicists also enjoy good entertainment? In a show like this, it also helps to have us in a discussion group as this one.

  23. GaryG Says:

Like I said, I’m rewatching Season 1 right now. I’m catching a lot of these small comments that didn’t seem important at the time. Sayid is fixing Danielle’s music box while she’s telling him how she got onto the island. She says, “I was part of a science team.” Sayid says, “A science team with rifles?” Sounds kind of like the science team that has shown up to the island now, doesn’t it? I’m pretty sure this island has been fought over and is still being fought over. I mean, no cancer, people being healed and who knows what other powers. Imagine the wealth having such an island would produce. Anyhow, just thought I’d mention this. I’ll add more when I notice more.

Ugh, too bad there’s only going to be a few more seasons. After this, there’ll just be more Reality shows, doctor shows and cop shows. Am I right or not? LOL

  24. Anne Says:

I can’t wait until tonight. I think it’s going to be the type of episode that you rewatch immediately.

  25. Smith Says:

Dear Lord, I can’t believe I was right….. This show is my God.

  26. GaryG Says:

So Locke was in the caskit and Ben says they have to bring him back. Jack’s dad was dead before he got to the island, then he’s alive in Jacob’s cabin. Do you think Jacob gets replaced every so often and Jack’s dad was Jacob? Now they’re bringing Locke back to be the new Jacob?

  27. Gitsie Girl Says:

Gary; Cool, Locke as Jacob. I love it!!!!!
