Hey JHT: The solution is that the ones time traveling ended up in 2007 at that point. Remember when Sawyer and team find the canoes with the Ajira Airline water bottle in it at their old camp on the beach? That bottle is from the plane Jack and team came back to the island on. Then they take one of the canoes and end up with the other one chasing them and firing at them. I'm assuming that's going to be Ilana and team in that other canoe and we'll find out about it here soon. Then they time shift again and end up in a storm. So while Sawyer and team experienced that, Locke experienced Richard coming to talk to him and giving him the compass. According to Locke in this show, the island told him where and when to go to meet himself so he could have Richard talk to him and patch up his leg. It also seems that we're learning that Ben has been the leader all this time under false pretenses if what Locke has been saying is true - that the island never has talked to Ben and if he never has talked to Jacob. If that's so, then Widmore may be correct in saying that Ben stole the island from him and that the island never belonged to Ben. Richard actually says something to the effect in season 4 when he talks to Locke telling them that Ben has been doing all this meaningless research in why women die when they're pregnant and they're looking for someone to show them they're there for more important reasons.

Could someone help me please? Ben, Locke, and Sun are NOT time traveling and are supposedly in 2007 when they meet up with Richard on the beach. How is it that Locke can take Ben and Richard to a spot back in time to witness the bullet removal scene? Since they are not time traveling how is it possible for the three of them to witness something that happed in the past?

One thing this show has been absolutely genius about is how, with almost agonizing slowness, they have shown that somehow the things going on have to do with some ancient civilization that lived on the island thousands of years ago. It all started in season two showing the four toed statue foot and the writing on the timer of the hatch. They let us dwell on that, wondering what the heck was that foot until season 4 when we see the donkey wheel. Though they give us a taste in season 3 when Ben mysteriously mentions moving his people to the Temple. Now, this season we're seeing more and more evidence of this anchient civilization and some connection (like the Others speaking Latin). What we thought was the temple, is actually the wall around it according to Ben. We've seen the tunnels under it when Ben and Locke went down inside and this show Jack went down into the tunnels with Richard and Ellie to get the nuke. Here's a question, does anyone remember the old Planet of the Apes movies? The second one of those movies ends with Taylor finding this race of humans who are worshiping a missile (a doomsday device). They had it on an altar. When Jack and them come to the nuke, seeing where it was sitting, it kind of reminded me of that movie. Did anyone else make that same connection? I think they're really building up to something big. If Jacob is anywhere, I think he's going to be hidden somewhere at the temple. I'm betting the place is huge and also distant if we couldn't see it on the other side of that wall.

Lost is a show about irony and coincidence, and how the more ironic things are, the less coincidental they are than what they may initially appear to be. that's the underlying premise, over which things like destiny, fate, faith vs. science, redemption, vengeance, parental issues, and the choices we make in life are tossed around like so much salad. from that standpoint, this episode was awesome in its brilliance. imagine your future self telling your past self something, and the luxury of watching it happen. how interesting is that? i wanted more of richard's backstory, and a less anticlimactic ending--this episode peaked about 10 minutes too early--but i'll settle for what we got. how about that moment just before Sawyer enters the sub. did anyone else think he was going to do something foolhardy? he surely would have in seasons 1-4, but he didnt last night. the character development on this show is far above par for network TV. also good to have a bit more action after the overly-thinky episodes preceding this. loved the scene with Dr. Chang, Miles, Hurley and Jin too. "ok, we're from the future." LOL.

Ok, so when does Eloise give birth to Daniel (i.e. how old is Daniel in the present, less than 30)? It was interesting to watch Charles touch Eloise's stomach while they were discussing next steps a the camp - does that mean she could be in the beginning stages of pregnacy?

Was awesome to see Sayid again. I got a sense he had an agenda of his own when he was in the tunnels - he seemed way to supportive once getting in there versus Jack not being sure if he would even come a few minutes earlier. A few moment later he questions Jack's support for Eloise

BTW, horrible special effects with the submarine leaving. Also, how big is that submarine - didn't seem big enough to hold all those people - when Kate was brought on the island the submarine seemed to be very small...

Absolutely confused about Jacob. I've had the feeling that he wasn't real, but it would seem like Richard would have put up a bigger fight when Locke ordered they go see him.

On #6. I don't think that that's what Ben was doing. I don't think he's tricking anybody. I knwo that he's Ben Linus but i just don't. After his encounter with smokey and Alex i just don't think so. If he was trying to trick them then he, imo, would be trying to not follow Locke but he's supposed to. I think when he said that he tried to kill him that he meant he tried to kill him but he came to life. He seemed genuinely shocked to wake up and see Locke sitting there alive. i think he meant to kill him just so it would be like the 815 crash with a dead person but had no idea he would come back to life.

Loved this episode and I am now on the side of Juliet - Kate is the worst kind of third wheel. I wanted them to be happy too...then she shows up ready to lay on the bomb talk.
I was surprised by Locke's plan. I've wondered if Jacob was just a way to keep the people in line - a Wizard of Oz figure. What did Richard want to tell Locke before he organized the coup?
Why was Daniel not buried? Curious. Is Daniel Jacob? Is Locke Jacob? I think it will end with us finally seeing Jacob, and it will be a big shock...or they will open the box from the plane people and it will be another dead body or the bomb.
