Not that much time has passed on the island so Michael and Walt have just been floating, thinking they were getting somewhere but actually getting no where. They are supposed to be back next season. That is if the guy who portrays Michael will do it. He turned down the chance to appear in the season 3 finale. (Yeah, like he's got so much going on, right?).
