Lost Ratings
I want to talk about the elephant in the room, the ratings for Lost last night. For anyone related to the production of the show who might read this… know that there are at least 8.5 million of us that watched and probably 90%+ of us that loved it. Saying that the ratings were down 25% is misleading. Ratings are down for all shows and TV is free so it can’t be the economy. Even that “show” over on Fox has lower ratings.
Lost beat the ratings of the competing show on Fox “Lie To Me” which benefited from have Idol as a lead in show. Lost won the ratings over the new drama which is impressive for a show going into it’s fifth year. Let’s also remember that there are lots of people who tape it and Lost continues to be “the” most watched back show (meaning, those of us who are obsessed and savor every minute have to go back and watch again at least once).
One other thought that I had is that the show came on at nine but went for two hours. Next week we’ll be back to nine o’clock for one hour which I think will make a difference to a lot of people like me who have to get up early the next day. I also suppose we are down to the “true” fans of the show who have stuck with it from the beginning (even through Season Three) and we are excited yet saddened the show is wrapping up. I was on the edge of my seat for almost the full two hours last night and hope that the rest of this season and next are as good as last night.
Namaste, GG

Good info but I think it’s only an elephant for ABC. I would still watch if I was the only one watching it!
Looking forward to reading your other recent stuff GG!

Dish network does not carry ABC in several markets so maybe that has something to do with the low ratings. We had to have someone dvr and put it on a disk for us (can’t watch online because no broadband in the middle of nowhere). It was SOOOOOOOO hard to know Lost was on and I had to wait! BTW, I have switched to Directv but there is a 3 week wait for installation! Probably all the Lost fans!

Lost has had me on the edge of my seat since day one! I was heart broken to hear Jack’s ex wife tell him that she was leaving him for someone else, and was kinda hoping that he and Juliet would get together too. I hope that Sawyer doesn’t die in the 5th season and would feel even better if we discovered that not everyone on the freighter died-like Jin and Michael. I’m still wondering what that 4 toed statue was!

I also felt like there was something strange about Walt. Maybe we’ll learn something about him this season.

Hey GG, long time… first time…
Anyway i really appreciate your in depth annalysis, I am in the USAF and i get deployed sometimes, so i miss this show, and then have to play catch up. here are a few questions i took away from this episode:
1)Did the smoke look/sound like chains to anyone else? it reminded me of the sound old wooden roller coasters make when they pull you up the hill. in times past the smoke seemed more animal like, almost like a pensive attack dog, whereas this episode it seemed much more mechanical???
2)My take on Locke going down the hole is that the time flashes were originating from this specific location. the skipping of the record was directly correlated to the donkey wheel being off axis. since Locke corrected it will the shifts stop?
3)Does Jughead=healing properties, no new babies, Bens spinal tumor? I read someones posting earlier that said the hatch’s device that Desmond had to discharge every 108 minutes was to “empty” the radioactive waste being procuded from a buried atomic weapon. or that desmond was “resetting time” every 108 minutes to the exact point prior to the bomb becoming unstable?????
4)(Lst but not least) i think rock star Charlie is Desmond/Penny’s son. i think the writters maek this show a big puzzle, but i think they make it blantanly clear some times.
what ya’ll think?

SSGTZ: My sister thinks the same thing as you… that Charlie the baby is Charlie the Rock God. I’d like for Charlie to come back so I’d be OK with that! Welcome to the site, hope you stay in The States but be safe if not.

Hey… how are the ratings doing now that we are mid season? Was rocking out to the show at the beginning of the season but I think some of the magic is gone now… wondering if some people are time-skipping over to other shows. (blasphemy, I know…)
