4 X 13 & 14: There’s No Place Like Home
The only thing missing was the ruby slippers. I like the irony of the title, though. On one hand, the Oceanic Six are home. On the other, the island became their home.

1. Here’s a link back to the original translation of the newspaper article Jack is carrying around with the obit from Jeremy Bentham. What I find the most interesting is that it states that Bentham is survived by a teenage son. Holy crap this is going to get good!
2. What is Locke going to possibly come to the Oceanic Six and say that convinces Jack of all people that they have to go back. Going back is the only way to keep Aaron and Kate safe.
3. The only reason I can come up with for having Michael die such a dramatic death is that the fans were hungry for Michael to pay the price for what he had done to the other Losties. I let it go last season and had moved on to new people to want to see dead - like Keemy. Maybe there was more plot development that just couldn’t happen because of the writer’s strike. I still would have like to have seen a Micheal and Walt “happy” ending though. Walt has lost both parents now, not cool.

4. I’m glad, however, that Desmond didn’t suddenly have powers of bomb disposal. I like that he said he learned just enough to blow himself up.
5. Keemy asks Ben the question of the season - why is Ben so important? Why does Widmore want Ben back alive?
6. So you have top military trained men (Keemy’s people) that are there to take Ben away. They split up into the weeds to try and find the Others that are there to save Ben and the Others overpower Keemy’s men? Wow, I would think that the Others must have had some serious military training to pull that off. Sure, they have the advantage of being natives to the island, but they come bearing electrical darts vs. machine guns. Impressive. (OK, they had some guns, but still…)
7. Here’s my suggestion to the Others. When you are trying to sneak up on armed military men, don’t sound out the whispers, it kind of gives you away.
8. I guess I shouldn’t laugh but when Keemy kicks the grenade over to his buddy, duh!
9. Sayid kicked some butt! Keemy was smart, however, that he played dead and then went to the one place he knew Ben would go.
10. I can tell you why none of the O6 went to see Walt - no one wanted to tell him that Michael was dead. Locke was always straight up with him, though, so I’ll be interested to see that conversation.
11. I don’t understand why Locke insisted to speak with Jack without Sawyer and Hurley present. Men are so dramtic (lol).
12. Interesting that the crackers that Ben dug up aren’t stale. Sawyer even eats one. Meaningless? Why wouldn’t the crackers be stale after all those years? Tupperware ought to look into the technology of the tin those crackers were in.
13. Random shot that I thought was pretty cool.

14. Here you go SKID … a last look at Dan and his tie. I think we’ll be seeing this guy again and will he still be wearing a tie?
15. I wasn’t crazy about the obvious set up for next season to find out why Charlotte wanted to “get back” to the island. I like my set-ups to be much more subtle. They either need to make her story very fascinating or I’m just going to have to campaign to kill her off the show. I think there are still some of those scary petrifying spiders running around! Could she be Annie? Not sure that I really care right now. I’m more interested to see Miles chatting with Jacob or find out how Dan gets rescued.
16. More random shots. I love the way the light hits Locke.

17. This was one squeaky elevator ride. Not sure I’d want to be on that one.
18. The Orchid was built for experiments with space and time. The bunny was going to be shifted 100 milliseconds forward in time. I’m thinking that’s how the move the whole island. It’s always ahead in time.
19. Was anyone else thinking about Jeff Goldblum in The Fly when they saw the pod? Hope Ben didn’t travel with any insects!

20. Halliwax = Dr Crandel. Why did he have a winter coat there (the one Ben travels in)? Where is he? Was he Ben’s predecessor?
21. Sawyer whispers to Kate, “I have a daughter in Alabama. You need to find her. Tell her I’m sorry.” I will post an enhanced video but not in this one (it’s long enough as it is).
22. “Checkmate Mr Eko.” This shot was very Jacob-in-the-cabin-like.
23. I wonder where Sayid can take Hurley that is safe. Hurley must know some about Sayid’s lifestyle because he’s not surprised to see him carrying a gun or that he just killed a man outside the hospital.
24. That’s awfully nice of “the island” to let Michael go now, but could the island really have saved him from 500 pounds of c4? Any have you noticed that the neat, clean cut Christian appears here? And of course the whispers.
25. Is he or isn’t he? We can see the last place Jin was standing then where the bomb tears apart the boat. I think there is still the possibility he made it although, not sure he was close enough to the island to be there when it ‘moved.”

26. Sun says several interesting things to Widmore. She tells him that they have “common interests.” She also states “As you know, we were not the only ones who left the island.” I think she means Ben. I truly doubt she’s referring to Desmond as he is her friend. I agree that her intent coming to Widmore wasn’t to help him, but rather she is going to use him in her revenge plot.
27. OK this really sucks for Sawyer. He sacrificed himself to save Kate and Hurely and now he thinks they blew up on the boat. They had just softened him up and now this. Yeah, I think there are some dark days ahead for Sawyer.

28. There are hieroglyphics all over this island. As long as we don’t have any more *ahem* interruptions we may actually get to see their meaning (along with the four toed statue). Remember that there were hieroglyphs on the counter in the original hatch that have never been explained either.
29. Instead of looking at the meaning behind the imagery, I’m wonder about the technology of how moving this wheel moves them in time. It’s like they took the energy of the hatch and somehow control it with this wheel. Maybe the more they move it the more the island moves?
30. The sky is turning purple again. Just like when the hatch imploded.
31. Now you see it, now you don’t! I hope that Dan was close enough to go with it but I have a feeling they are going to need him *off* the island as he is the one who originally figured out the coordinates to get there. Then they’ll have a big Dan and Charlotte reunion. Yeah, there is a ripple but it’s pretty small for an island to have physically have gone somewhere. And it doesn’t last very long either. My vote is on some time shift.
32. Another crash that they all survived. Guess it’s not their time to go yet.
33. Here is one of the scenes where the color is all wonky. Is it just bad production?
34. What Kate hears on the phone is a series of clicks and then that crazy backwards talking. But, and I’ll get it posted soon, played forward it says, ” The island needs you. You have to go back before it’s too late.” I think it also sounds like Locke’s voice.
35. Nice white rabbit and conveniently right before Claire shows her face.
36. Is it just me or does Aaron sleep a lot? I don’t remember my 3 - 4 year old sleeping that much.
37. Hurley asks Kate (on the raft) if Aaron is ok and she says yes, that it’s a miracle. Jack had just told Locke he doesn’t believe in miracles. Irony. Aaron is definitely special to live through what he has just like Locke was a miracle baby.
38. Now this is a love story! I’m glad that we didn’t have to wait until the last season wondering if they would meet up again. There should still be a lot of story to tell but now we can go on to other story lines. Still, a great, great scene.
39. We still haven’t found out why Naomi was carrying that picture of Desmond and Penny. There was no reason for Widmore at the time to think Desmond could protect her so will we find out her motive? It had to be from Penny because if Widmore had her looking for him wouldn’t she just be carrying a picture of Desmond and not a sentimental photo of the two together?
40. Frank has been on the yacht for a week yet he still looks this grungy. We’re not done with this guy yet. He knows too much. I’m sure he’ll be important in getting them back when the time comes.
41. On an aside, I’ve been thinking, won’t Sun be of great interest since she conceived on the island? She wouldn’t have lived if she had stayed but won’t they want to know about the baby?
42. Jack says to Ben that Locke told him some very bad things had happened on the island since he left and they were his fault. Not that I want to see bad things happen back on the island, but this is great set up for seasons to come. What bad things, to who, how is it Jack’s fault and how can he fix it?
43. Jack agrees in the last scene that he needs to go back to the island. What are they going to do with Locke until they can get there?
44. So when we see flashes (what will they be now, flash backs again?) if Locke is back on the mainland will he be back in the wheelchair? The island didn’t necessarily heal him and it could just be he can walk while he’s there.
45. Desmond is Dan’s constant. If Dan is still around won’t he have to find Desmond? Jack warns Desmond not to let *them* find him which makes me think he’ll somewhat be in hiding.
46. Walt’s going to have some Daddy issues now with Michael gone (if he heads back to the island). Walt should do well though because Locke taught him some mad knife skills when he was little.
So, with this all said I bid goodbye to Season 4. I’ll be around this summer so keep checking back and leaving comments.

I didn’t want to bring this up before, GG, but it’s been nagging me for a while. It’s spelled “Keamy”. I know I’m just being a little girl about this (that sounds like a terrible pun, so I apologize if you take it that way), but please take my sanity into consideration.
I thought the off-coloring was cool, actually. Added some realism, in a Saving Private Ryan kind of of way.
If Charlotte as Annie knew Ben, I think there would be more clues. they didn’t seem to recognize each other at all, and Ben gave her fake birthplace in his summary of her life. He could be just lying, but I really don’t think he was. More likely? She was a former Other. My theory is that she moved the Island the last time. In which case, I don’t feel like joining a crusade to get her off the show. At least Michelle Rodriguez deserved it. And I have to admit, Rebecca Mader is pretty hot…
Actually, I have another theory. The polar bear in the desert may have been the original mover of the Island. It had a collar on it, correct? Maybe it was used to pull the Donkey Wheel.
I never really wanted Michael dead because he killed those two characters, I wanted him dead because Harold Perrineau is a terrible actor. I mean, he kind of killed them for good reasons, and it got rid of Ana Lucia. Sad to see Libby go without a good examination of her character, though.
Speaking of which, will we ever get closure on that? I thought this was supposed to be the Libby’s back story season, as well as the 4-Toed Statue season. Makes me feel like we’ll never get the answers.
My favorite exchange of the episode-
Locke: “How deep does this tunnel go?”
Ben: (annoyed) “…Deep.”
May 31st, 2008 at 4:35 pm
I can’t believe you didn’t catch a much bigger mistake than that! But I’ve fixed it now so now you’ll just have to wonder…
As far as Charlotte goes, as long as her story isn’t cheesy and forced I’m for it. I just don’t like the way they made her looming back story so obvious.
I definitely think that the polar bear was there from the last move. The theory that he pulled the wheel is excellent.
If you couldn’t stand Harold Perrineau before you should go out and read some of his interviews since being *killed* off the show. What a whiner!
One other side note…. It looks like Daniel Dae Kim fell into the DUI curse of the show. The other actors better be careful!
May 31st, 2008 at 11:46 pm
GG: I’ll never understand why someone who is rich gets a DUI. With the kind of money actors get paid, especially for a top TV show, they can easily afford taxi fare.
I’m starting to believe that tie is Dan’s constant. Wasn’t that the same tie he was wearing when Desmond visited him at Oxford?
I have a thought on the whispers, especially when they happened when Christian visited Mike just before the boat exploded. I think maybe the whispers are associated with the dead who are alive on the island. I think maybe some of the Others, like maybe Richard are some of those dead. That would kind of be a help if you’re fighting trained military mercenaries. But then some of the Others seem to have some excellent fighting training as well, remember Ethan.
I thought about Charlotte maybe being Annie. But Annie was Ben’s ONLY ONLY friend growing up and I can’t see him ignoring her if she did show up to the island. Annie and Ben’s daughter, maybe? Maybe that’s why Annie had to leave the island to have her? Remember Ben’s remarks to Alex about not wanting her to get pregnant - could Ben have been reliving his past his past in that comment?
In the video Ben gives to Locke to watch, what little we do get to hear, it mentions some sort of material being behind the walls of the lab. I’m thinking either anti-matter or dark matter. The video also says to be careful about touching this material with regular materials. I’m guessing the wheel Ben turns brings this material in contact with catalyst.
They are certainly holding back on us seeing anything more of the four toed ancient civilization that exsisted on the island. I don’t think the Orchid was the Temple, but it must be close by. I have a feeling that if there’s going to be a final battle for the island that it’ll be fought at the Temple.
I think Hurley’s dead friends are keeping him informed of what everyone else is doing. Hurley is the one person on the island that everyone liked, so it doesn’t seem too strange that they would appear to him. I’m wondering if Jack’s father can come back (and he didn’t even die on the island) if maybe Libby will also come back for Hurley if he returns to the island. They still have more to explain about Libby’s back story, like what she was doing at the institute while Hurley was there the first time.
Like I said, my theory about Desmond and Widmore is that Widmore’s boat race around the world must have been a way he could search for the island. He must have had certain compass locations set up for the racers to go to and he was hoping one year one of the boats in the race would disappear at one of them. That could be why Naomi had Desmond’s picture, why it was that one, who knows.
It’s going to be a long summer filled with nothing but dumb reality shows on TV.
June 1st, 2008 at 12:48 pm
GaryG: I like the boat race theory. I’d like to add to it by theorizing that he only acted on the information when 815 went down in roughly the same area as Desmond. When he matched the compass locations, he knew that it was the Island’s doing.
I’m still trying to get a grasp on Penny’s rescue operations. Is she working for her father, or doing her own little experiment in secret? I don’t know if the men in the 2nd season finale worked for C. Widmore or just Penny. I’d probably have to say the latter option, since she seemed fine with going behind her father’s back to come up with the Oceanic Six’s cover story.
I like the idea that the whispers are related to the dead. Could Harper Stanhope (Juliet’s therapist) be one of them? We haven’t seen her with Locke’s new band of Others yet.
I still think that Richard is separate from the dead. He’s been shown to interact fully with physical objects in ways that would be impossible to justify as coincidence, for example pushing Ben’s wheelchair and shooting Keamy. As far as we’ve seen, I don’t think any of the dead have done so to such a degree, in fact I remember thinking that Charlie and Hurley never touched each other at all during the season premiere.
I remember a theory on the Lost Forums that Widmore, Richard, and Abbadon were on the Black Rock. It kind of fits with Alpert’s outfit in “The Man Behind the Curtain”. Remember, he had the long, unkempt hair and the archaic, almost pirate-like shirt? Whoever came up with the theory said that Widmore was probably the captain, and Abbadon was a slave who Widmore freed gaining his loyalty.
Now, I know someone will probably call me racist for saying this, but it’s actually a good theory. They said that exposure to the Island for such a long time resulted in an eventual stop of age. Unfortunately, we’ve seen that Ben aged at least 30 years without any growth problems, and thus, there would be some explaining to do.
As for theories about Dan’s tie? I think deep down, we all know that reason is because the directors are too busy to give him constant costume changes. Ben still hasn’t untucked his shirt, and by now Jack’s dirty, sweaty, blood-stained shirt should theoretically make everyone stay a good distance away from him, but he keeps it on so we don’t get too confused.

Hey, I started on this board this season. I was wondering if anyone ever noticed that the last number in “the numbers,” 42 is also the Ultimate Answer in the “Hitchhicker’s Guide to the Galaxy?” I just always thought that was funny…LOL.
June 1st, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Could the island actually be from the far future? Maybe the ancient civilization is actually a post-technology civilization from a million or more years in our future. Maybe the 4 toes on the statue has to do somehow with the evolution of humanity in the future? Nuclear war, radiation and mutation? Einstein said he didn’t know what weapons WWIII would be fought with, but that WWIV would be fought with sticks and stones. Well, it’s just a thought.
June 1st, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Another posibility of the island being from the future. Maybe mankind wipes itself out and another species evolves into the dominant land dwelling species, like dolphins. Dolphins have 4 digits in their fin skeletal structure. Kind of like the 4 toed statue that faces the sea, as if it’s facing the place of origin. Only that one foot remains, so we don’t know what the rest of the statue looked like. Well, just a crazy thought I had.
June 2nd, 2008 at 12:01 am
No offense GaryG, but if Lost turns into a show that starts talking about “millions of years in the future,” and the explanation for the four-toed statue is that dolphins evolved into a land-dwelling species resembling human, but with only four toes…. Then I’m going on strike against the writers.
Haha just kidding, but I can’t wait to see where Ben moved the island, and where he went after he turned that big wheel!
Also, again to GaryG, I really like your idea about Charlotte possibly being Ben and Annie’s daughter! I wonder what the age difference is between them.
Gitsie, nice recap! It’s gonna give me a lot to chew on for a while. And 46 points! Is that a new record? An episode like this one would surely be deserving of a ton of points.
June 2nd, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I just had a couple questions. First, a lot of people are assuming that because we saw Claire with Christian and then again appearing to Kate in the finale that she is dead. Is this necessarily true? The one that keeps coming to mind is Walt appearing to Locke throughout season 3. Walt definately isn’t dead and he can appear to others so is there a chance that Claire can too?
My second question is about the island moving. If it moved in time, why would that affect it’s location? If that doesn’t make sense, then think of Hawaii now in 2008, and then think if somebody flipped a switch and now Hawaii was existing in 2020, the island would still be in the same spot wouldn’t it? I don’t know if that makes sense or not, but it’s something that has been bugging me about the so called “time shift” of the island.
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Hey GG,
I had a couple small problems with the finale. I liked the mixture or tying some things up and starting others, but here are my issues. The biggest one is the whole helicopter heading back to the freighter. They are losing fuel where Frank asks if anyone can see the leak. And yep, there it is right outside the door. Why not just plug it? Even if they weren’t brave enough to go out onto the skid (unlikely if you are going to crash) you could have reached it from the cab of the helicopter. With what you might ask? uhh just about anything, Frank fixed it with ONE piece of duct tape you can’t tell me sawyer wouldn’t be willing to loose his shirt again to put into a hole.
Next, Frank tells them to dump everything off the copter to save fuel. First of all losing a little weight won’t stop the leak or consumption of fuel, but I will let that one go. The part that I question is minutes after landing and taking off they now have life vests and a raft? Shouldn’t they have been dumped off? I know if I am about to crash in a helicopter and the pilot tells me to dump everything or die, I dump everything.
Next, Why is there no sense of urgency from the people on the Freighter to get the heck off the freighter. Even after the red light comes on and Desmond comes running on deck you can see other crew members in the background just walking around. I am sorry, but if someone tells me that I am sitting on 500 pounds of C4, and that we think this fire extinguisher might work… maybe, … bye bye boat. The swim to the island can’t be that bad since Sawyer did it in little time. You can find something to float on like the 55 gallon barrels that the helicopter fuel is in. Something similiar worked at the end of “Jaws”.
I am just being nit picky I think. Besides that stuff nagging me I thought it was a great eppy. And yes the doors reminded me of “The Fly”.
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Foffman: Well, I hope my dolphin theory is wrong. I was just trying to fit something in with the 4 toed statue. But also, because there are no signs of 4 toed humanoids in past history and time travel hasn’t been invented that we know of, the island being from the future may be an answer. Then again, the island is isolated, like The Galapagos Islands where life also evolved seperately from other species on Earth. So that too may be the answer. So who knows.
Crazyray: I’m still not sure if Claire is dead or not. She appeared to Kate in a dream and not standing there while Kate was awake. Then again, those tricky dead do appear in dreams as well. But Walt is a good point as well, though we did know Walt had special powers, one of which was to be able to appear in two places at once.
Watch the movie, “The Time Machine,” the older one with Sebastian Cabot in it. It has about as good an explanation as to why the island disappears when it begins to move through time as any.
Dave: I did have some problems with some of the stuff on the last show as well. I know for one, tape wouldn’t have stopped the leak. Not taping the leak from the outside. The fuel line or fuel tank underneath the skin of the helicopter would still be leaking.
I also know that freezing the battery wouldn’t have worked. It would have been the same as removing the cable from the battery. The bomb is looking for the charge from the battery, you freeze it, stop the chemical recation, you stop the charge - BOOM! They should have actually froze the C4 itself. Then they could have removed the C4. Then I doubt if they had enough NO2 to do that.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:18 am
i live in the uk so didnt get to see this for myself but when browsing on lostpedia i saw a link for an advert for something called Octagon Global Recruiting, which aired during the season finale. The company advertise themselves as working on behalf of the dharma initiative, and asked for volunteers for a research project, for which their recruitment drive has the same dates as Comicon. check out the website, http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/
it comes up with a video which if you watch the final shot, it is clearly a scene from lost of someone typing the code into the swan computer. also, an octagon is the shape of the dharma logo’s …. i smell a new lost experience….
June 5th, 2008 at 11:41 am
I think it will be interesting that Jack will taking yet another corpse to the island, this time intentionally. I was a little let down this season, largely due to the writer’s strike, but I can’t wait for January!
June 5th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
I come up with some interesting points. We know from season 3 that for some reason Locke was unable to see Jacob, but he did hear him. Jacob asked Locke to help him. It sounds like Jacob is in some kind of trouble. I was thinking that maybe this was due to Ben. But I’m starting to believe it’s not Ben’s doing. In fact, I think Ben can no longer see or even hear Jacob. Ben just seemed a bit odd at the cabin, as if he were acting. I think he doesn’t want the Others to know he can no longer communicate with Jacob. This is also why he was so upset that Locke heard Jacob. It also why the Others think Ben has been acting strange.
So instead of Jacob, we are seeing Christian at the cabin. I think it may be the ghosts who are keeping Jacob back. It’s likely the ghosts aren’t all on the same side, Just like we have Ben’s group, the Losties and Widmore’s group. Maybe there are a few different groups of ghosts as well.
We also know that Locke was being observed by both the Others and Widmore before he even came to the island. But Locke isn’t the only person who Jacob has an interest in. His cabin also appeared for Hurley. Hurley may have been watched too. Remember Libby watching him at the institute? Maybe she was hired by one of these groups. She also seemed to come into play giving Desmond the boat so he could enter Widmore’s race. Like I mention in another post, I think Widmore’s race was an attempt to find the island.
But here’s something else with Hurley. We know the ghosts can appear off the island. Who’s to say that they too weren’t watching some of the people who came to the island. Maybe even trying to prevent them from reaching the island. Remember Hurley’s imaginary friend, Dave? If he were a ghost, coming to Hurley at the institute, talking with him, making the doctors think Hurley was nuts would be a way to keep him in the institute. But then Dave failed and left. But Dave again shows back up on the island and tries to get Hurley to jump off a cliff (it would have looked like a SUICIDE to everyone else when they found Hurley’s body). Does that sound kind of familiar? Like Locke’s death? Maybe the ghosts, or some of them, want to prevent people who can talk to Jacob from talking to him.
The ghosts have been throwing me off ever since Eko’s brother got him killed by the black smoke. Just when his brother was leaving, Eko started saying, “You’re not my brother, who are you?” So are there two or more forces with those ghosts? Could the black smoke also be associated with the ghosts? Maybe even a concentration of the ghosts to affect things physically? We still don’t have enough information.
There also seems to be something with whether or not the ghost’s bodies are on the island or not. Remember the Other’s funeral service, they sent that body out into the water like a Viking funeral? But Jack’s father’s body was supposed to be in that casket and it disappeared, Eko’s brother’s body also disappeared from the plane. So there may be something there too. Maybe some of the ghosts also have bodies and some do not. Like Mungo above mentioned, Jack and Ben are going to be bringing back Locke’s body.
Now on to Widmore and Dharma. Even though Keamy pulled out that book with the Dharma symbol on it when he was on the boat, I don’t think Widmore was part of the Dharma intiative. If he was, couldn’t he have just asked Hanso for the Black Rock log book instead of having to buy it at auction. The fact that that book was up for auction must mean the Hanso Foundation is under some financial problems. More people than Widmore were bidding on that book and were willing to pay hansomely to get it. Who were they and should we be concerned with them as well? The only thing we really know about Widmore’s business is that he makes home pregnancy tests - the one Sun uses has “Widmore Labs” printed on the box. This all kind of goes down the same path as all the tests on fertility done on the island.
Well, I really can’t wait until the next season to see if any of these questions will be answered. I think that writer’s strike caused them to have to cram this season together to get as much in as possible. So much information would be in a show it’d have our head whirling…lol.
June 11th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Might be a bit silly, but here I go, if Daniel was the only one to figure out the co-ordinates of the island, how about the helicopter that did the food drop at the end of season two? likewise how will the survivors get on with out the dharma food supplies? is that the reason why they came in to hard time?
June 11th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
Pete:
Ya, I thought about that food drop too. How did that plane find the island?
By the way, I just finished watching “The Man Behind the Curtain” fron Season 3 and I am now convinced that Ben cannot hear Jacob. He may have been able to before, but I think something has happened. I mean, Ben would have heard Jacob ask Locke to help him, but he didn’t and Ben had to ask what Jacob told him.
June 12th, 2008 at 2:23 am
hey everyone,
just thinking but didn’t Desmond have a flash forward of Claire getting of the island, if Charlie did what he had to do and died????? What happened to that one?????
June 14th, 2008 at 5:29 am
I’m sure we didnt see that flash foward, it was dialog between desmond and charlie. He said he seen Erin and Claire getting on a chopper. So can asume he was lying then.
With regard to all the talk about the island/ pirates and dead people, and i’m going to keep this short, does any one else think theres a power stuggle on the island. Between good and bad maybe?? And i mean the island it self is having a power struggle. This can be traced back to when desmond and kelvin had the fight, kelvin dies and desmond was late putting the numbers in. Before that life on the island seems fine (for the others). This caused an one imbalance (for use of a better word) starting the power struggle, then the hatch blew up causing a constant in balance.. maybe thats why ben cant hear jacob now, dead people are walking all obver the place, dead peolpe seem to want everyone back to the island… although claire does not want the baby back. I’m just thinking theres a good side of the island against a bad side..controlling different dead people.
Not really the theory thats in my head, But food for thought..
June 15th, 2008 at 8:24 am
Good stuff G2. Nice recap and especially on Locke/Bentham and the teenage son. Adopted Walt? This is probably similar to what others have said, i think the island is a stitch or loop in time, and the O6 and others like Michael who have left it without fulfilling their duty to the island - have inadvertently disrupted the future - of everybody associated with the island… The Universe Has a Way of Course Correcting, after all, and they mey have cheated the island. Michael went back to complete his destiny or course!! I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow Walt, Lepidus, and / or Desmond end up making the island return trip with the O6! I heard also, true or not, from the E channel that Jin is alive and well in season 5, we’ll see. But hey, what the hell do they or I really know?? Have a great summer losties! I look forward to random nuggest of information floating ashore from you Gitsie!

Irish Ray: We did see that flash because that is the whole reason Charlie was willing to die, because he saw that if he did that, Claire and Aaron would get on the chopper.
And in that flash Aaron was a baby, so either the writers forgot or some how we go back in time, or Desmond was lying. Either ways i hope it is answered in the next season

There’s also another answer to Clair not getting on the helicopter. Desmond said if he changes what he sees in the picture, it may change what happens. Maybe Desmond going down to the Looking Glass changed things. Of course, Desmond may also have seen Aaron being carried onto the chopper, not seen who was carrying him and assumed it was Claire holding him. But then I have also noticed some errors or changes the writers have made throughout the seasons. When Claire frist found out she was pregnant and was with Aaron’s biological father, he mentions how her mother had disowned her (as if Claire’s mother wasn’t in a coma). Claire’s girlfriend who takes her to see the psychic also mentions that Claire hadn’t told her mother yet that she was pregnant.
Then, I don’t think Desmond is the only person who can see the future. Some of the Others have this ability as well and if they wanted to keep Claire on the island, they may have done something to prevent it.
I’m also wondering about what GG said about Locke going back to the real world if it’ll mean he’ll be back in a wheel chair. Remember Juliet’s sister? Her cancer was cured and she had never been to the island. Ben told Juliet that Jacob would take care of it. So obviously, people can be cured who are not on the island. I think that’s why there’s such a power struggle to control the island.
