There's also another answer to Clair not getting on the helicopter. Desmond said if he changes what he sees in the picture, it may change what happens. Maybe Desmond going down to the Looking Glass changed things. Of course, Desmond may also have seen Aaron being carried onto the chopper, not seen who was carrying him and assumed it was Claire holding him. But then I have also noticed some errors or changes the writers have made throughout the seasons. When Claire frist found out she was pregnant and was with Aaron's biological father, he mentions how her mother had disowned her (as if Claire's mother wasn't in a coma). Claire's girlfriend who takes her to see the psychic also mentions that Claire hadn't told her mother yet that she was pregnant.

Then, I don't think Desmond is the only person who can see the future. Some of the Others have this ability as well and if they wanted to keep Claire on the island, they may have done something to prevent it.

I'm also wondering about what GG said about Locke going back to the real world if it'll mean he'll be back in a wheel chair. Remember Juliet's sister? Her cancer was cured and she had never been to the island. Ben told Juliet that Jacob would take care of it. So obviously, people can be cured who are not on the island. I think that's why there's such a power struggle to control the island.

Irish Ray: We did see that flash because that is the whole reason Charlie was willing to die, because he saw that if he did that, Claire and Aaron would get on the chopper.

And in that flash Aaron was a baby, so either the writers forgot or some how we go back in time, or Desmond was lying. Either ways i hope it is answered in the next season

Good stuff G2. Nice recap and especially on Locke/Bentham and the teenage son. Adopted Walt? This is probably similar to what others have said, i think the island is a stitch or loop in time, and the O6 and others like Michael who have left it without fulfilling their duty to the island - have inadvertently disrupted the future - of everybody associated with the island... The Universe Has a Way of Course Correcting, after all, and they mey have cheated the island. Michael went back to complete his destiny or course!! I wouldn't be surprised if somehow Walt, Lepidus, and / or Desmond end up making the island return trip with the O6! I heard also, true or not, from the E channel that Jin is alive and well in season 5, we'll see. But hey, what the hell do they or I really know?? Have a great summer losties! I look forward to random nuggest of information floating ashore from you Gitsie!

I'm sure we didnt see that flash foward, it was dialog between desmond and charlie. He said he seen Erin and Claire getting on a chopper. So can asume he was lying then.

With regard to all the talk about the island/ pirates and dead people, and i'm going to keep this short, does any one else think theres a power stuggle on the island. Between good and bad maybe?? And i mean the island it self is having a power struggle. This can be traced back to when desmond and kelvin had the fight, kelvin dies and desmond was late putting the numbers in. Before that life on the island seems fine (for the others). This caused an one imbalance (for use of a better word) starting the power struggle, then the hatch blew up causing a constant in balance.. maybe thats why ben cant hear jacob now, dead people are walking all obver the place, dead peolpe seem to want everyone back to the island... although claire does not want the baby back. I'm just thinking theres a good side of the island against a bad side..controlling different dead people.

Not really the theory thats in my head, But food for thought..

Pete:
Ya, I thought about that food drop too. How did that plane find the island?

By the way, I just finished watching "The Man Behind the Curtain" fron Season 3 and I am now convinced that Ben cannot hear Jacob. He may have been able to before, but I think something has happened. I mean, Ben would have heard Jacob ask Locke to help him, but he didn't and Ben had to ask what Jacob told him.

Might be a bit silly, but here I go, if Daniel was the only one to figure out the co-ordinates of the island, how about the helicopter that did the food drop at the end of season two? likewise how will the survivors get on with out the dharma food supplies? is that the reason why they came in to hard time?

I come up with some interesting points. We know from season 3 that for some reason Locke was unable to see Jacob, but he did hear him. Jacob asked Locke to help him. It sounds like Jacob is in some kind of trouble. I was thinking that maybe this was due to Ben. But I'm starting to believe it's not Ben's doing. In fact, I think Ben can no longer see or even hear Jacob. Ben just seemed a bit odd at the cabin, as if he were acting. I think he doesn't want the Others to know he can no longer communicate with Jacob. This is also why he was so upset that Locke heard Jacob. It also why the Others think Ben has been acting strange.

So instead of Jacob, we are seeing Christian at the cabin. I think it may be the ghosts who are keeping Jacob back. It's likely the ghosts aren't all on the same side, Just like we have Ben's group, the Losties and Widmore's group. Maybe there are a few different groups of ghosts as well.

We also know that Locke was being observed by both the Others and Widmore before he even came to the island. But Locke isn't the only person who Jacob has an interest in. His cabin also appeared for Hurley. Hurley may have been watched too. Remember Libby watching him at the institute? Maybe she was hired by one of these groups. She also seemed to come into play giving Desmond the boat so he could enter Widmore's race. Like I mention in another post, I think Widmore's race was an attempt to find the island.

But here's something else with Hurley. We know the ghosts can appear off the island. Who's to say that they too weren't watching some of the people who came to the island. Maybe even trying to prevent them from reaching the island. Remember Hurley's imaginary friend, Dave? If he were a ghost, coming to Hurley at the institute, talking with him, making the doctors think Hurley was nuts would be a way to keep him in the institute. But then Dave failed and left. But Dave again shows back up on the island and tries to get Hurley to jump off a cliff (it would have looked like a SUICIDE to everyone else when they found Hurley's body). Does that sound kind of familiar? Like Locke's death? Maybe the ghosts, or some of them, want to prevent people who can talk to Jacob from talking to him.

The ghosts have been throwing me off ever since Eko's brother got him killed by the black smoke. Just when his brother was leaving, Eko started saying, "You're not my brother, who are you?" So are there two or more forces with those ghosts? Could the black smoke also be associated with the ghosts? Maybe even a concentration of the ghosts to affect things physically? We still don't have enough information.

There also seems to be something with whether or not the ghost's bodies are on the island or not. Remember the Other's funeral service, they sent that body out into the water like a Viking funeral? But Jack's father's body was supposed to be in that casket and it disappeared, Eko's brother's body also disappeared from the plane. So there may be something there too. Maybe some of the ghosts also have bodies and some do not. Like Mungo above mentioned, Jack and Ben are going to be bringing back Locke's body.

Now on to Widmore and Dharma. Even though Keamy pulled out that book with the Dharma symbol on it when he was on the boat, I don't think Widmore was part of the Dharma intiative. If he was, couldn't he have just asked Hanso for the Black Rock log book instead of having to buy it at auction. The fact that that book was up for auction must mean the Hanso Foundation is under some financial problems. More people than Widmore were bidding on that book and were willing to pay hansomely to get it. Who were they and should we be concerned with them as well? The only thing we really know about Widmore's business is that he makes home pregnancy tests - the one Sun uses has "Widmore Labs" printed on the box. This all kind of goes down the same path as all the tests on fertility done on the island.

Well, I really can't wait until the next season to see if any of these questions will be answered. I think that writer's strike caused them to have to cram this season together to get as much in as possible. So much information would be in a show it'd have our head whirling...lol.

I think it will be interesting that Jack will taking yet another corpse to the island, this time intentionally. I was a little let down this season, largely due to the writer's strike, but I can't wait for January!

i live in the uk so didnt get to see this for myself but when browsing on lostpedia i saw a link for an advert for something called Octagon Global Recruiting, which aired during the season finale. The company advertise themselves as working on behalf of the dharma initiative, and asked for volunteers for a research project, for which their recruitment drive has the same dates as Comicon. check out the website, http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/
it comes up with a video which if you watch the final shot, it is clearly a scene from lost of someone typing the code into the swan computer. also, an octagon is the shape of the dharma logo's .... i smell a new lost experience....
