    The whole show seems to revolve around, “Everything happens for a reason.” Maybe this is the reason Dan wore that tie throughout season 4 and ends up using it to stop the bleeding. He was driving the boat back to the ship when the island moved, maybe the boat got tipped over and Dan had a run in with the propeller.
