I also spotted a FedEx/UPS-style delivery truck with the Oceanic Airlines logo on it. Do you know what that might be from? If he's dead, how does he hit Hurley, and if he somehow is alive and off the island why does he tell Hurley that he's dead? This is kind of a crazy thought, but I'm not convinced that Charlie is dead yet. If Charlie gets off the island and for some reason he uses a different name now, that would answer all three of my questions about this scene. 1. He also believed in "Tabula Rasa", Latin for Empty Slate, which is the title of the third episode of the 1st season.
