Wow, what a great episode!
1. Whoa, is Michael high or what? Remember how drugged and brainwashed Claire was? She was about a .04 to Michaels 2.5! I think that is why part of the preview next week is in black and white (his stoned memory) and we can see *someone* injecting Michael, similar to what we saw Ethan doing to Claire. This is also the only way “we” and the survivors will ever forgive him, too.
2. So how are The Others manipulating their dreams like this? Is it in the water? Is it in the trees thus in the smoke coming from the fire? Is it in the fruit or meat that they are eating? Somehow they are manipulating the survivors’ minds…
3. I think that Locke was originally brought to the plane (through a DREAM) to find the hatch but because of Boone’s *accident* the plan was put on hold. But his legs were also disabled the first time he came here leading me to believe he is not supposed to climb. Why?
4. OK, so Eko wakes up in the night, grabs the axe and tells Charlie, “I’m going to get John.” SCARY! They give him some great set ups, don’t they?
5. Eko is starting to sound like Locke did last season. He asks Locke if he has ever followed a dream. He tells Locke that they should wait for further instructions (once at the plane). His faith is now pulling Locke on.
6. Funny line - when Eko is looking at the map and he asks John if something is a river and he responds that no, it’s a wavy line. Tsk, tsk. Sarcasm.
7. Poor Hurley, he already thinks that he is cursed because of the numbers and now Libby is dead for what he thinks was his fault. Wonder who he’ll see now on the island? And will he ever figure out how he knows her? Her story never went anywhere.
8. Claire’s psychic. He’s a fraud, shocker, right? But, what I think is interesting is that he told Eko that he gathers info and then exploits people. I think that he was doing this to manipulate Eko. He conned Claire into getting on the plane so did he just con Eko the same way? He *pretends* that his daughter is a fake then sends her to the airport to talk to Eko? Is Eko’s monseniour somehow involved and that is why he sent him to investigate the miracle?
9. The ground was salted so nothing would grow around the question mark. Eko indicates that this is so that anyone flying above will see it. Makes me wonder what kind of other markers there may be around the other hatches. Why make these markers? Well, we are supposed to find out why the plane crashed to begin with so maybe we will find this out in the next couple of epis.
10. I couldn’t tell what was on the table in the observation hatch. It looked like a cigarette and trash, but my sis thought maybe it was heroin and empty packs.
11. Orientation video. The doctor uses a different name and sure does look younger. He was Marvin Candle for The Swan but now says that he is Dr. Mark Wickman. Video was dated 1980. Also, the Swan video was reel-to-reel and this one was VHS.
12. There was dust on the journals that the participants were supposed to write in, but the thingy that carriers them was still working. TV’s looked dated but still worked. Where is the power coming from? Where is the PALA FERRY that takes them back when their 8 hour shift is over?
13. Scott and I examined the numbers on the printout but could not see the pattern. Is it a date followed by some type of time stamp? The pattern consists of eight numbers beginning with 41602 then 3 numbers. They vary from 41, 05, 29 and 23. Is the first set the date?
14. I want to know what all the other tv’s in the new hatch were for? Could they need all of those just for the Swan OR could they be watching other places (the jungle?) or other hatches?

16. Eko’s fake passport was dated 14 April 04.
17. Sawyer was again showing a very soft side. He was willing to give up his stash that he worked so hard to con in order to keep Libby from suffering. Then he comforts Kate. Nice.

So many thoughts! It is almost as if John needs Eko to rekindle his faith in the island. I was under the impression that 2 people were brought to the new hatch as fate….and that they (Locke and Eko) were intended to stay there and make notes on their friends back in the hatch. What did Eko take with him? The empty notebooks?
**Did anyone else jump out of their skin when Libby spit up? Poor Hurley. His last words from Libby was “Michael”. Jack and Hurley think she is concerned about him. I thought it was kinda of odd that Libby died since they showed her checking on Eko and the girl in the airport.
It almost made it sound like fate that Eko’s plane did crash to the island.
What would Claire’s psychic going to expose about her I wonder. That she was having a baby and put it up for adoption? Maybe when he held her hands to read her palm he REALLY felt something and that is why he pulled back and wouldn’t do a reading for her. Remember he called her and harrassed her about the baby.
What was up with his daughter tho? Did she really die? I was confused on that part. My VCR (no laughing, not all of us get TiVo!) did not record the episode so I am going on memory. =)
It is weird that John and Locke are sharing visions. If John saw Eko fall off the cliff, I am wondering why it didn’t happen. There are so many things similar to when Boone and Locke found the plane. Locke’s leg was again injured so he could not climb. The similarity between Locke and Eko looking down the hatch was similar to the last hatch when the lid had to be blown open. Good thing this one was much easier to open!
I wondered if Desmond was going to appear in the new hatch. I was thinking it was drugs on the table, too. It was weird only 1 TV was on in the hatch. I thought the others were to watch the rest of the parts of the island, too.
I bet that Locke and Eko don’t tell the rest of the group what they found. That seems to happen a lot in this show. The place the Claire and Kate found was only told about to Jack and no one has went back there since. That is probably a spot on Locke’s map. Since he put the map in the tube, I wonder if it will reappear somewhere.
I noticed the new commerical, too. Is it a real foundation?

Is it me or was the tour of duty at “The Pearl” to last 3 weeks?
Also, when calling the Hanso foundation # and selecting option 3 (I think) for Dr. Middlewerk, his message states that he will be unreachable for the next 3 weeks?
Also is the pearl the “Accellerated Remote Viewing Training Facility”…?

Okay, I’ve done the www.sublymonal.com thing. And, yes, the number of clicks to unlock the code matches the infamous numbers. I have the code but have yet to figure out what to do with the code revealed to me. I’ve gone to www.thehansofoundation.org (because it was a hidden link in the Flash web page that reveals a code - Heir Apparent). I’ve gone to the newsletter section of the website, tried Heir Apparent as the code and nothing. Any password I put in when prompted by the “persephone” on the hansofoundation website always tells me to call the call center number. Which, I’ve called the call center number and have listened to all the voicemail prompts and “messages” as very well detailed here.
Basically, I’m living my own Lost episode. I know I know something, but I don’t know what it is that I know.
If any of you have any suggestions or insight, I’m open to it ALL!

Hm. I think that the “observation hatch” is just as psychological as the swan hatch. You are to sit there for 8 hours and observe another person who is virtually trapped and record *everything* that you see. Sounds like another warped mind game to me. Yes, Eko took the empty notebooks.
Here is what I want to see — REWIND THE VIDEO! But I doubt seriously that Eko or Locke will tell of the hatch they found. Sounds like next week Sayid is going to present the idea that Micheal may have had something to do with the shooting. He better be careful, Mike probably still has the gun.
We will find out before the end of the season why the plane crashed. The writers have said this several times. I’m guessing this is a big scene for the season finale.
I think that Mr. Psychic does have some sort of ability, but was put up to convincing Claire to get on the plane. He just was too passionate about her not getting on the plane and then did an about-face too quickly for there not to be something going on.
The daughther drowned but came back to life on the autopsy table. That is the original story. But, Mr. Pyschic decides for “some reason” to change his story and just chalk it up to hypotermia.
I don’t know that Locke was *supposed* to find The Swan. But, since he did the Others probably had to modify their plan and I’m sure that finding the Pearl was not fate, but a planned move.
As far as them sharing visions, I would speculate that The Others have slipped Locke and Eko some of the *happy paste* that Locke made in Season One and they are seeing all sorts of things. Just like Hurley seeing Dave, I think that the Others are somehow manipulating these visions. Think of what the psychic said about finding out what he could about people and then using it against them….
Season finale is a Desmond flashback. This is official on the ABC press release.
No, Hanso is not a real foundation. The commercial has a footer that says something like “Paid for by ABC Broadcasting” or something like that.

I’ve resigned myself that I cannot possibly follow all of the leads in this show because of how you eloquently put it, I’d be *living my own Lost episode.* I wanted to obsess over the hatch map but it just overwhelmed me with all of the possibilities and translations. Same with the weird symbols on the counter. No one has yet to crack that one. Same with the monster in the woods that Danielle said was a security system. Etc, etc….
I think that forums are great because the Lost community collectively deconstructs every *minute* detail. I love it!

Ok… lets not forget the two dead bodies (well, skeletons) found in the caves last season…. And weren’t they holding a black and a white stone? Eko and Locke may be on a journey that is an experiment all in-of-itself. And… Locke does know how to play the board game with those pieces! Humm…
Also, why (oh why) are all of these hatches empty??? Seriously, It wasn’t that long ago that Claire was taken back to one of these deals. Why are they empty now? Not makin’ sense to me!
One last (but not least) flashback (from my lost island) – what about ‘the black rock’??? Why make such a big deal about this place and then just leave it? Have I missed something?
I’m getting lost trying to stay found…

Are you implying that the “Adam and Eve” were on a vision quest much like Eko and Locke? I like to think of “A &E” as the Rose and Bernard of past island survivors.
I am thinking there was something catastrophic that either started to happen or did happen. It goes along with all the commotion that you can hear at the Hanso 866 number. It also goes along with the outlines of the pictures that we saw in the medical hatch nursery. I think that the outlines could be explained by some sort of explosion or other disturbance that would kick up alot of dust.
The Black Rock might not have anything directly to do with the hatches. It’s just another clue that I feel confident we will find a use for in the future.
