Two for the Road (2)
First thoughts:
1. Hm. Click here for the I told ya so
(she says with arms crossed in defiance). I was scorned by fans last season for saying Boone was going to bite it and he did. Now Ana.
2. Did Libby die? We can see two graves in pix for upcoming episodes but she was holding something out in front of her when Mikey shot her that could potentially have saved her. Listen, I read today in a magazine about how an underwire in a bra stopped a bullet so stop your scoffing… BUT IF SHE LIVES this is going to be so freaking cool because she can rat out Michael. If she dies, Hurley and Sayid will have a new connection.
3. Michael, Michael, Michael. I said, that he was going to sell out his friends for his son. But again, I would send you all down the river for my daughter. However…. the killing part might stop me.

4. Henry was expecting Michael. How did he know? I don’t think that he knew who was coming as much as he knew someone would be coming. So the tradeoff is Ana has to die in retaliation for killing Goodwin. Then, Fenry (aka Fake Henry) gets freed in a “supposed” trade for Walt. So what is next in Mikey’s plan? Hey Mikey, he likes it!

5. Thought it interesting that they have Christian (Jack’s dad) and Ana meeting in a bar just like Ana met Jack — at the airport bar.

6. So Christian has a daughter in Australia. How did that happen?
7. The name Christian picks for Ana is SARAH??? So was he the person that Jack’s wife SARAH had made dinner for the night that she dumps him. I would say that we are going to be seeing more of this in the future.
8. I hope that the writers/producers know how much they make this show seem like purgatory. I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT, however, think about the implications. Every time someone finds their peace, they die. So if this was purgatory and you found your peace you pass on to heaven. I’m just saying.
9. First Michael tells Jack and friends that the Others are weak and only number 22 with two guards and two guns (Two for the road???). But then he goes on to tell Ana that they are “animals” and he has seen what they can do. Somewhere in the truth Michael either sat down and worked out this compromise (complete with killing) or they kidnapped him, only to torture him to the point of this horrible deal. No matter, he is leading the survivors to a slaughter for sure.
10. Eko falls off a cliff next week? Will anyone believe Locke since he has lied about cliffs (remember Boone’s accident?).
11. Fenry’s quote was great. To Locke, ” If you’ve come to apologize I forgive you for hitting me with your crutch. I’m so glad my head didn’t break it.” Now how many shows would you find that kind of dialog, huh?

12. Ana told Fenry the funny thing about killers is tha tthey love to talk, yet he said nothing while she yammered on….
13. Did you see Sawyer hit the car with his hands that Christian and Ana were talking in? It was right before Christian goes into the bar and Ana decides to leave him.
14. Hurley mentions the hosptial and then again remembering why Libby looks familiar. The camera went to Libby like they knew that we were going to be wanting a reaction. But I didn’t see a reaction.

Hmm… It does appear true that when characters find their “peace” we find them packing up toward the pearly gates. Did Libby find her peace? We never saw her get a piece of Hurley… (sorry, couldn’t resist) So, perhaps she’s still alive? Maybe there was something under the blankets to help her out a bit. Hope so. Poor Hurley otherwise. He’s gonna be one mean sumo killing machine if she doesn’t make it.

I don’t understand why everybody is believing Michael about how weak the Others are. Saying the only have 2 guns? Now I don’t own previous episodes, but when the Others had gotten Kate and Jack and pack went after her, the bearded guy had a gun to Kate’s head. Jack and pack had to throw down their guns to get back Kate. Now I don’t remember how many guns were thrown down, but the Others surely have more than 2 guns. Anyone else notice this?

Scott: I don’t think, at least I HOPE too, that Libby is not dead. Maybe she was bring Hurley some metal stuff from the hatch and it will save her.
Johnny (cool Survivor name): This is an excellent catch about the number of guns. Why can’t the survivors be as observant as us, huh?

I think we will see who Doc’s daughter is. Maybe it’s Claire!!!!!!

Jill - There is chatter around the internet about who she is. The mom is blonde so it’s a safe guess, but it could also be someone like Libby. BUt Claire is the safe assumption because she *is* Australian. Or perhaps there is someone from Jack’s past that we haven’t even met yet. Or maybe Jack even knows that he has a sister. But, I guess the secret is safe *if* Jack’s dad is *really* dead and if Ana is also dead for sure.

I don’t think Libby is dead either. She was going back to the hatch to get a blanket and something to drink. Maybe she got a thermos or something and that blocked the bullets. I caught that it was Sawyer that ran into the car. This gives us another part of the circle they are all linked to. Remember he had a drink with Jack’s dad in a bar. This shows what happened just prior to that meeting. As far as Hurley saying “maybe I will get drunk enough to remember where I know you from”, I thought that Libby kinda had a look of “I hope not” on her face. Finally, how could the daughter be Claire? The mother seemed to be too young to have a daughter that old.

Just my thoughts…
I think that the moral of this episode is, “Don’t Drink and Drive”.
The two women killed by Michael (and I do think that they are both dead, and will explain why in a moment) were recently arrested for drinking and driving in ‘real life’. Coincidence?…
I think that most people will agree that Ana Lucia needed to go. I was done with her a few episodes back.
In addition, the actor that plays Libby is going on to another show later this fall. It is possible, but not likely that she will continue to be on both shows at the same time.

I was assuming that the daughter of Jack’s dad was young (maybe an infant or young child) and not an adult in Jack’s age bracket. Is there anything out there leading us to believe that she is older (like Claire or Libby’s age)?
Also, another thought…I noticed that Fenry (nice one Gitsie) made a comment to the effect of ‘HE tried to help her, blah, blah, blah’ referring to Ana and why he tried to kill her. Unfortunately I do not have TiVo, so I cannot write verbatim (Gitsie?), but it sounded to me like ‘He’ might be the good old Doc that we have been lead to believe is dead. Did anyone else get that too, or have any other thoughts?

AJ - Will post a blog for the Libby drunk driving, did they or didn’t they purposely kill her off.
But, it sounded to me like Fenry was talking about Goodwin. Fenry said that Goodwin was standing up for her and trying to convince the Others that she could change. I think the “he” was in reference to Goodwin….

Did you notice that Ana chose the name TOM for Jack’s dad. Wasn’t Tom from Kate’s past?
May 10th, 2006 at 11:19 pm
Lilleegirl: I did notice that she picked Tom but didnt see that it had any significance since Tom was connected to Kate and unless there is more about Ana we don’t know, I think this one was just a coincidence.
